My 2007 GX470 with v8 and 197000miles is still running flawlessly and doesn't even need to go to dealership.

I absolutely love my 2003 Acura MDX touring! I have 300k miles on her, and it still runs like new and is very sporty to drive. I love the computerized AWD system, powerful Bose sound system , and luxurious leather interior. A very well built nearly 5000 pound tank and I absolutely love driving it!

2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0 L motor AW4 Transmission and 291,396 miles . Did cylinder head gasket and motor mounts recently and it is running like new. Saving money and avoiding new car expenses and ridiculous repair costs.

This rings true for my wife and I. We have a 2005 Tacoma and a 2010 Prius both bought new. Both are holding up great. Thought about replacing the Prius with something new just for a change, but this idea just doesn't make any sense since this car still looks and runs perfectly.

That's what I have done for the past 40 years. Buy new and keep the car at least 15 years. For me mainly Buick Lesabres. Currently own a Nissan Altima now in it's 14th year year on the road with no issues except regular maintenance. The car still has the original CVT transmission. Always change my CVT fluid every 2 years.

I'm still driving my 96 Tacoma that I purchased new in Nov of 95 for 25K. Currently I have 300,200 miles on it. Rust hole in the frame was fixed. Drives great, but gas milage is poor.

The Subaru debacle came down to two things. 1. The previous owner did not do regular maintenance on the car, hence the problems it had when sold. 2. The new owner knew it would need repairs but hoped it would not be costly. I have always owned a Subaru. These cars last a very long time and are extremely reliable. Granted, as with any vehicle, the owner must do regular maintenance. If this is done repairs down the line will be few and far in between. Also, the car is not meant to be a race car (except for the WRX STI) or for extreme offroading. Subaru can hold it's own in rugged areas but there is an undeniable limit. The extmtreme offroading is mainly for trucks or other vehicles designed for said roads and areas. I would have Subaru on this list but many people want Toyotas, which are also very reliable vehicles.
