A little funny story , my wife had a dream that Toby Keith forgot his boots while in concert, so he stole mine. The way i found out he passed, my wife told me you will never get your boots back from Toby.. As a man i cried for a few days, I love 💟 this man. RIP Cowboy

This one hit me hard when it came out. I was just getting back with my ex and daughter. We were divorced for a couple years before we tried it again. And ultimately failed. Due to my own mishandling of the divorce and allowing a horrible event weigh too heavy on my mind, I began cutting people off, including my daughter who was two when we divorced. When my ex began dating, and ultimately married her next husband, I was tore up and wallowing in self pity. I’d forego visiting my daughter just to avoid her. A lot happened over the course of a few months and I realized if I was worried about someone taking my place, I was the only one who could change things. I became more present then me and her mom got re married. After that one failed, my daughter and I had had a very close bond. Mostly because this song kept playing on repeat in my head and reminded what I needed to do. I ended up getting remarried and we had a daughter (my girls are 14 years apart) and my oldest decided she wanted to move in with us. It all worked out for the best, too. Thanks, Sebs for the reaction, and as always, thanks, Toby, for the words. Cheers, y’all.

When I hear the song I think of someone that walked away from his family!!! That's the only way someone could be "Runnin' my life'! My late wife's ex would either quit a job when they'd take his first child support payment from his check, or his employer would pay him so much on his hourly pay, & the rest cash under the table. When she died, he owed her in excess of $60,000 in back support!!! All of the kids were over the age of 18 when she passed, so the back support died when she did! Even though he owed her that much, he was still involved in their lives. Because I loved her, & the kids had part of her in them, I loved them too! I knew that I would have to get along with him too, because when we got together her youngest was only 8.

Tobie could write songs about anything and make you believe he lived it. Luckily, his personal life was much better than this song would indicate.
