I’m retired Army, so while I appreciate his music and writing of great songs his service to our military is what is most special to me. Eleven USO tours and answering their call to go to Iraq and Afghanistan really meant a lot to so many. Giving freely of himself regardless of holidays, and even just sitting with a few soldiers using just his guitar and voice meant he cared. During autograph sessions everyone was accommodated no matter how long it took. Now he should be up there with his friend Wayman Tisdale (Toby’s dedication “Crying For Me - Wayman’s Song” splitting country music with jazz for all heaven to enjoy. Rest easy, Show Dog.

It meant so much to our troops that he preform for them. You can see I'm thier faces the moral boost it gave them!! It was for us also here in America. He also wrote songs and made videos that made us laugh, even at his own expense. Prayers to his family and friends.

My Grandma went to Moore Highschool with Toby. She said got made fun of for always playing his guitar, but he was the nicest person she said. But almost ten years after highschool she was in shock hearing him on the radio. And swears this song is written towards all the people in school that said he would never make it.

As famous folks I’ve met, he’s the most down to earth and it isn’t close. He played a concert for us, then took photos, signed autographs, and then proceeded to talk to anyone who wanted to until we all had to leave. This was about 10 miles outside Samara, Iraq in 2005 by the way. Who does that? Toby bleepin’ Kieth does that. RIP, brother!

I'm from Oklahoma, and I love him, his music, and the good things he did for our state. His foundation had the OK Kids Korral which was for children with cancer and their families to stay - kind of like Ronald McDonald Houses, but for children with cancer. The company I work for volunteered several times serving the families dinner in the evening. He was a true Oklahoman. RIP.

Toby Keith was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan. "How Do You Like Me Now" was adopted as a Sooner fan favorite & theme after Sooner Football won the 2000 national championship. There was an abysmal decade of Sooner Football between the time Barry Switzer resigned & Bob Stoops was hired. Stoops revived the Sooner program, winning the national championship in Stoops' 2nd season, along with them dominating the Big 12 conference most of his tenure just like they dominated the Big 8 under Switzer. BOOMER!
