Nice pentatonic lesson on this. You can also play D Mixolydian over this, which is just the D Major scale with a flat 7, which is the same as the G Major scale, which uses a lot of the same shapes as the e minor blues scale. Lol not sure if that made any sense, but if it does then try it out! Sounds great

Very well done. Thank you. Now I remember (actually I never forgot) why I don't play the guitar anymore. You either have it or you don't. I love music but I can't do what you do. BTW, that is a great song.

Hi, if you have a G,C,and D chords isn't that the key of G? Why use D pentatonic not the G pentatonic?
@alangilgilbert
@alangilgilbert 3 жыл бұрын
The melody is centered on “D” with no leading tone of c# so technically it’s D mixolydian when you solo. D mixolydian encompasses D major pentatonic, and that’s what the guitar player solos in on the track. You can use G-major pentatonic for note selection but when you resolve phrases it will sound not pleasing if you don’t know what you’re doing. D-major pentatonic is what you want for this song. Hope this helps!

@@alangilgilbert thanks, but so I'm not totally confused, the song is in the key of g, correct? You are soloing with D pentatonic.

@@harrygarcia8749 Hey, I hear the key of D because that’s what they use as the tonic( which means the one chord) and that’s what I see for the sheet music. So the chord progressions would be I , flat VII, IV. The flat 7 is what makes this a modal chord progressions. I think it would be incorrect to label it as G major.

Hey,the talent is there,but apart from the rhythm chords,none of those lead licks have anything to do with the original song - which makes this upload sort of pointless. Not trying to be rude,but the whole point of these types of videos,is to show fans of the original song how to play it - not play what you think is there - Sorry,but I'll pass.
@FriteVerte
@FriteVerte 2 жыл бұрын
I think you've missed the point completely. To me, his video showed a cool technique that can be applied to many different situation, including this song. The point of covering a song is not to copy exactly what was played, but to take inspiration from it and make it part your own. This pentatonic technique is perfect for improvising while remaining on theme.

@@FriteVerte I think you've missed my point - it was pointing out the fact that he said he'd show you how to play the song,not reinterpret it - it's obvious the guys got talent,but he's totally changed it,I get what you mean by interpreting a song to not make it a complete cover,but the uploader has said he'll show you how to play the song.
