Going over a quick guitar hack to change the way you think about moving through the fretboard. Get yourself some new Elixir strings:

I don’t play guitar. I have followed you for several years for the entertainment value. As I prepare for the “next phase,” I am cutting out many things to give myself more time for my most loved people/activities. Thanks for many good memories, and may your life continue to be blessed.

Practice , Practice, Practice! It’s really that simple. Your lessons make practice more enticing. Thanks for the videos. Been a subscriber for a good while and am never disappointed in your content. I couple your short lessons with learning new songs. There are a couple more people on KZbin that do nothing but breaking down popular / classic songs that are really helpful when practicing. I’d make them but don’t want to step on your vibe.

Great lessons, seem to be absorbing some good musical knowledge somehow? My ear had worked out the single intervals. The key new knowledge was the route to the next string down to repeat the pattern. Amazing, truly. I can’t believe I’m actually beginning to commit the fretboard to memory! My wife and I are at similar levels on guitar. Despite her ability to read music I’m streaking ahead in technique and mobility around the instrument. Sweet sweet bragging rights. Thankyou so much! Sorry to ramble but in just a few days my playing and understanding of what I’m doing(and able to do) have inspired hours of practicing and progress. Really can’t thank you enough.

left out the 4th, so leave out the 7th and wa-la you have the pentatonic scale so then try the bass run to - My Girl and the good old bluegrass lick or even The Tennessee Waltz they all fit with this basic exercise

Wow, I just put my Elixir 12's on my Martin. Compared to the Retro 13's they ship with, it's a dream to play. With the coating and finer windings, it's like playing a real instrument instead of a bunch of stiff wires. They are quieter while sliding up the neck.

OMG you are a genius, you've seen and discovered some hidden secrets that nobody else has ever seen. In fact you also know that the solutions have been deliberately hidden by cowards. You should write a book, .... but nah, who needs to read stuff and who needs a fundamental understanding when hacks can do the job? You are awesomely brave and generous. Channel goes in my junk bin.

I find that straight forward enough to play, but you talk about it being a way to connect chords. I don’t see what chord that easily connects to the G or starting chord because you end up on your index finger on the fourth string and tbh nothing comes very easily to my fingers from there. Please advise!

I'm very grateful for the work you do but it seems to me that your videos follow the same formula.. First half, Intro shows somw amazing guitar playing then the first part is broken down in to steps I can follow. Then comes "now for the second part, just wriggle your fingers like grease lightening up and down the fredboard like this" and maybe throw in a "just practice it a couple of times and you'll get it.. Very frustrating to a dullard frustrated newbie like me... But I shall persevere and I will continue to use your videos on the way, thank you!

@@seandaniel23 I think your pacing tends to increase in the second half of the video, so keeping it as simple as the first half. As a newbie, this is my first ever attempt at anything musical (45 year old guy) so I listen to the first half of the video, pause it to practice what you have been teaching. Then the second half tends to be a little more advanced and loses me.. But I must say, the problem may be new and not your style or methods 👍🏻
