Very much so, because I remember the days of "2 hour job" turning into 4+ hour jobs, either because first time doing something and instructions not being clear, or because of something breaking or not going as planned. My absolute favorite, when you have clear, concise instructions, but something on the vehicle you are working on is different due to a mid year change, and it was not documented...... So when a "2 hour job" can be done in about 30 minutes, it is a beautiful thing. There are some Honda "2-4 hour" jobs that I can now do in about 30 minutes to an hour, and its a beautiful thing.

Yeah, I've for sure been on both sides working on my car. Most of the time when it takes me twice as long is because I'm learning something for the first time, and part of that involves not using the right tools/procedure and doing it a dumb way.

I don’t get how billing for the actual number of hours it takes him means he’s worth less money. He can already charge whatever hourly rate he wants to, and if he gets it done faster, he can then move onto another car faster and make more money by completing more cars in a day.

That 'vortec' engine is actually an LS family engine... it's an iron block while an LS2 would be aluminum. Aside from that you might have different cylinder heads (but these might be the same actually - check the casting number on the front/rear of the top of the cylinder head - 243 and 799 were found on the LS2's and LS6's as well as many of the 6.0 iron blocks) and cam primarily.

Also, the hood wasn't opened all the way. The only time I leave the hood in the first position on my w126 is if the car is not on perfectly level ground, or if I am not going to work on it for long. Having it open all the way makes it so much easier to work on, and on a 123 the first position stops so much lower than on a 126. I wonder if the release tabs on the hinges were bent on that 123 like they commonly are.

The hummer h2 came with bfgoodrich "ko1" tires. That tire was fantastic and lasted for years even with the weight of the hummer. The tire he has on now is the new ko2. The Vortec 6000 is basically a truck duty member of the LS family. It's detuned and simplified vs other LS engines, and it uses a beefier iron block for more severe truck duties, but the basic architecture is pretty much like any other LS. In fact, it's one of the many reasons people love the LS. It comes in a wide range if configurations and capabilities, and can be used in just about anything.

The Ferrari that this wizard had just looked that that’s known to have fuel line chafing issues and had open recall for it this supposed wizard didn’t even look at the fuel line for chaffing that tavarish clearly spotted. Boom. And then there’s a certain Porsche engine swap that was plopped into a car without any consideration for oil pickup and changing the engine position from its original intended annnnnd welll it blows up.... rookie mistake there from the wizard. Not to say the Porsche engine may not had other issues but oil pickup was not considered in the build. Granted I’ve seen tavarish do some wacky and wonderful things in a Lamborghini build like using hardware grade bolts on a supercar engine when the original specs are likely a hardened bolt. And that wacky wonderful gold foil stuff. Lol. Uhhh. Ok. But he liked the look so fair enough.

I've had issues with GM instrument panels before. You need to pull yours. There is ground bus on the circuit board that needs to be resoldered. Just be careful pulling the needles and put them back in the right position. Take pictures with your phone and put them back in the same position.

Way to go J&J. Nice comp on the int parts. "The Vortec engine is GM's best - except for the rusty exhaust manifolds, broken exhaust bolts, failing intake gaskets, and crusty alternator". I think I need more convincing.

I’m glad that we clarified in the comments that the 2003 hummer H2 has a LS based iron block 6.0L LQ4 which can handle more boost that the aluminum block 6.0L LS2. “Not a LT motor” or shall I say engine since motors are electric.

Couldn't get the rotors of for the love of me. (Pads I could replace but they were actually still good... just figured I'd do both at the same time, which still holds I guess?)
