Andre - I had an '04 Yukon with the 6.0L LQ4 with the same exhaust manifold bolt issues. Wasn't too difficult to fix - just took off the manifolds, spot-welded some nuts on the leftover threads of the broken bolts, backed them out, and replaced with new bolts (and a new set of exhaust manifold gaskets). It took an afternoon with a buddy and about $50 in new bolts and gaskets. Thankfully, I didn't have to remove the heads BUT a new/reman set of LQ4/LQ9 heads are pretty cheap, just takes a bit longer. Once fixed, it should give you at least another 100k miles of running on that nearly bulletproof LQ4/LQ9. As far as the audio goes, the factory unit requires routing the audio through the amp under the center console. If you bypass that with an aftermarket head unit, you either need to adapt it to run through the factory amp, run RCA outs to a new amp (and run speaker wires to that location if not at the factory amp location) OR run new speaker wires to the rear of the head. Check out Crutchfield for help - they've got adapters and experts to help get it wired up.

There is a kit to fix the exhaust manifold leak without taking it apart . Kral auto parts I think is the name $28.00 . Worked great on my 2004 Silverado 3500 6.0.

To diagnose the sound I would hook back up the old unit and verify sound works. If it does you know amp and wiring is still okay. Then you would only need to check the wiring from head unit and might need a different wiring connector or to use multimeter to test the output and make sure the unit is labeled right

I had one new way beck. Four and a half years, absolutely zero mechanical issues. The truck was an absolute beast and I loved it. Where it failed was the interior build quality. The damn thing squeaked and rattled all over inside when driving from day one. Everything felt very plastic. And not solid heavy duty, but hollow, cheap, GM starter car plastic. Another 1000 dollars on the interior finish would have gone a long way to making it fell like a premium brand. I had an 2002 F150 at the same time, and it felt better and sounded quieter inside than the H2. I can't even imagine riding in a well used one now.

And Toyotas FJ Cruiser alsoo needs a comeback!
@damilolaakanni4 жыл бұрын
Toyota is reportedly bringing an off-road focused version of the Land Cruiser in 2021, so for me it's either that or a delayed release of a new FJ Cruiser. Toyota would have to put years of R&D before producing a new FJ Cruiser, but the new Land Cruiser is almost complete. It would be nice to see a new FJ Cruiser though.

@@Choppingwood83 I think youre mistaking the land ROVER for the land cruiser. The LC has pretty much been the benchmark for overlanding rigs the last 40 years. Toyota used to claim the components were built to last 25 years of rugged use.

Blown out tires stink. My GTI had a blow out from a pot hole recently (and no spare)... luckily I was only a few miles from home. Walked home, got a snow tire and brought it back to bring the car home.

I once had to drive an H2 from Florida to sugar mountain NC trying to keep an average speed between 75/85 did the whole trip and filled up 8 times before getting there , the trip back to FL almost 10 times ; for total of around 700$! 😂 (2012) the next year I did the same trip but this time rented a Jeep Patriot well 😅 went to the exact same place to Nc total cost of renting the car+gas under 400$ as soon as I got back well went an trade in my H2 for a f150 4x4 so the next year went to same exact trip again well 😂😂 I got stuck arriving to sugar mountain had to call a tow to get us to the cabin next day the truck wouldn't start had the call the a tow again took to the dealer because even after changing the batt nothing happened well the starter got changed tried to finish our vacation went back to Florida ,1800$ later learned my lesson went back to the dealer got a 4 runner went back again and did the same exact same trip no problem since 😅😂

I actually came upon the same problem with my brother in law except that it was in on his 2002 avalanche, it did exactly the same thing, when wiring up the speaker to the stereo it works but when plugged in it doesnt work, we also have a aftermarket stereo in it too so that shouldn't be the issue, turnout it is the stock amplifier that went out and after replacing it, everything went back to normal as they should with all the speakers working properly.

I'm at 258K on my 2003 H2. Engine still running strong after 2 100K tune ups. Keep the oil changed and add a catch can. Only two major problems; 1 repuilt the transmission and I changed out the radiator which started leaking. Be sure to replace all hoses and while you are there, water pump and thermostat. Don't change the transmission oil too regularly. I think I overdid it and it started to slip. I removed too much grit. Just change oil and filter every 30 to 40 K but do not flush the trans. This will leave some grit for grip. Regarding your head set. I also put a double din backup camera. I think you need a module between the headset and the On Star plugs. I believe to get to the speakers you need to go through the onstar wires. Onstar is connected to the speakers....

Andre, you sure that center diff is locking? Couple of times I could swear the FP tire was spinning and the rear wasn't. Something just didn't seem right for 2x locked. Oh, and when you fix that oil gauge stepper motor, do all 6 or 7 of them. They will all fail at some point if they are original.

You need to bypass the factory Bose amp or you have to take the amp remote trigger usually a blue wire). Or you can pull the door panels and trace each output at the amp and bypass the amp and let the output come from the radio which tends to sound better
