That settles it. I have no reason to get a diesel. The Gas 6.2 is really capable and for the amount of towing it does just fine.

2016 F-250 XLT 6.2 here, 18K miles, long distance, towing, snow plowing, not the slightest peep of trouble. Even with the best QC in the world, any product can have a certain minuscule percentage of infancy failure. The 6.2 is a damn good engine.

Wow the F250 had the best time going up the hill. The Ram 2500 with the 6.4L was like 11 minutes, average speed of 40mph (on a 60mph road). The Silverado 2500 6.0L was 10 minutes or so, Average speed of 45 mph. For the F250 to to 8:53 is pretty impressive. Average speed of 54mph.

I been a diesel truck guy my whole life, I still have my 2002 F250 7.3 with over 275k miles and still running like she did from day one, purchased a 2012 Ecoboost F150...love the engine towing but it couldn't handle the weight I occasionally tow so I traded it in on. 2015 F250 6.7, absolute beast! But hate the high cost of maintenance and all the emissions crap....I bet I watched this video a 100 times for over a year talking myself in trading the 2015 6.7 for a 2019 F250 6.2....well I did in October and absolutely love it!!! It tows everything I put behind it and tows it well! Thanks guys for the great video! Now I want to see the 2020 F250 7.3 10 speed make the pull and see what it has.

Damian Grouse It definitely should. Why the hell would anyone buy a 2500/250 truck and _not_ tow with it?
@NicholasJohnson57
@NicholasJohnson57 7 жыл бұрын
That's because many of the base truck sales are to organizations, companies, government entities etc... They do not do a lot of towing so its a feature they do not need. no reason to include it if the customer has no interest in it.

It is a possible 2020 or late 2019 option from what I was told. Just bought a 2019 F250 with the 6.2 and I did ask. They have a lot of requests but the transmission is based on the 3.5 EcoBoost 10 speed but is HD so it is different. I decided not to wait because I am not one to take on the first model year of a major component like a transmission. I will let them work out the kinks and maybe trade when/if it makes sense. I can tell you the truck I have is nice and seems to have the HP. I will find out when I take the trailer/RV out in a couple weeks. Been towing it with my '06 MegaCab Ram so we will see which pulls better. BTW, I have the RAM still so I can fan boy by myself...Ford is better...No RAM smokes Ford. Why the Ford over RAM...dealers in my area are supper bad. I had my RAM serviced when I had a warranty and it was a nightmare. Ford Dealer is awesome. The RAM is not THAT MUCH better that I have to deal with crappy dealers and their crappy mechanics. Hey, but I still have both anyway...I just fix my own RAM now.

209°F for the transmission? Wow, that is hot, and not normal. Our Ram 3500 has never broken 170° towing our 40' fifth wheel, which tips the scales at 18,000lbs. We have done our own Super Ike, crossing from Silverthorne to Empire, then up US 40 and 34 to Gand Lake, CO. US 40 is a torture test on transmissions, as you have scrub speed for the curves, then build it back up on the straights. Would almost like to the TFL guys test on US 40 between Empire and Winter Park, because that was a more brutal slug up the hill than I-70. Or, how about Loveland Pass? Nope, they'll probably stick to I-70, where the advantage for having more HP outweighs having more torque (speed vs. acceleration).

Fact 1 the Ford broke down out of all the trucks Fact 2 Ram was loaded with 12,500 lbs plus extra Weight of v8 vs v6 and less weight of ford in general. So. Fact 3 Ford can pull less weight faster up guantlet but not without breaking down first Fact 4 Ford got stuck in gear at the end look at Mr. TRUCKS face hahaha. Fact 5 i bought Ram 2500.😀

Hey Guys, glad to see the F250 back at it. Hopefully in a Q&A segment you can talk about the grade shifting more. Heard your say that the RPM's were probably above the sweet spot. But when Andre was summing up with the 12 brake applications, I saw the trans was in 3rd. So it must have shifted down at some point. Video was a lot shorter than usual. Would have liked to seen more on the downhill part. Like when did it start to get down to 3rd? I expected better too. Guess best option is to manual shift down when you want to hold a different speed. Does that trans let you lock out a gear or two? Remember the 150 did. Good to see you all on the Gauntlet. Would like to see a longer version available for us that want to see it. Thanks.......

I work at Larry Miller Ford here in Colorado as a Lot Tech. The base model F-150 and F-250 are better known as "Fleet" Vehicles, they're sold to various companies, oddly enough most of the Fleet Vehicles aren't even sold to construction companies. But Fleet Vehicles are still available to the general public though they're not very popular for obvious reasons but I still see the everyday customer taking one of them home. Still a comfortable truck, I've delivered several base model F-250/150s, but I wouldn't recommend a Fleet variant unless you just need a towing truck without all the extra cost and luxury that a Platinum, Lariat, King Ranch or even XLT's offer.

As a Ford guy, I've recently rented the new 26 foot f650 uhaul with v10. Engine and tranny work flawlessly but, it's got 7k on it and the a.c. has already gone out, the cruise control doesn't work for shit. Honestly kind of disappointed.... Ford does need to step it up..........

I still think you guys should re do the ike with premium gas and make the ram shift to a lower gear for hp. I get it that its, let the truck handle it, but if you're looking for performance numbers, the agressive engine protect program found in the rams wont really allow the truck to show off.

How can you compare a fully loaded 1/2 ton to a bare bones base model HD truck?? A base F150 is $5,155 cheaper. Fully load the HD truck and it will cost way more.

Trey K because I’m talking about how much truck you can get for your dollar. Maybe it’s the practical side in me but I would rather have a base model 3/4 or 1 ton than a fully loaded 1/2 ton if I planned to use it for work even if I didn’t plan on using its full capability. The base models have more than enough tech for me.

0:47 According to Ford: A failed water pump....caused a brand new serpentine belt to break? How would it break a belt without squealing like a banshee first (which the TFL guys would have obviously noticed)?!? Not only that, but a failed serpentine belt caused a mechanical fan to move laterally and shoved it into the radiator?!? So....am I to understand that a serpentine belt is literally holding the radiator fan longitudinally in place??? Wow, ford, That's the worst excuse I've heard in a long time!

Lol. Thanks, but in all fairness, that's not a terribly difficult feat.
@laplante149
@laplante149 6 жыл бұрын
The fan probably hit the belt and cut it, if the water pump bearings were failing it was heating the shaft that connects to the mechanical fan and when it is spinning at that rate of rpm it will bend causing it to go out of balance, and be able to hit the radiator and cut the serpentine belt, seen it happen before, bad part caused allot more problems
@780brando
@780brando 6 жыл бұрын
The belt likely wasn't cut. It probably fell off when the water pump froze up and the water pump pulley twisted the shaft off, which also supports the cooling fan. Although being soaked in coolant the belt is junk now anyways regardless if it was cut or not.

Well they have the 7.3 coming out soon! Slap a supercharger on it and call it a day. Pretty sure Roush or someone will sort that out pretty quick after it hits the dealer lots. 430hp and 475 ft lbs of torque is already pretty impressive for an NA engine, that and it's probably detuned for reliability and longevity. I can only speculate for now, but I'm certain it'll be a beast for a gas engine.

Am I the only one who thinks the 1000lbs difference in the GCW of this run(19,500lbs) vs. the Chevy (20,500) and the Dodge (20,280) was a factor? On an incline with a rolling load, a few hundred pounds can make a big difference. The Ford had the lightest load by far (A full 1/2 Ton less!). Simple physics, I think. I enjoy watching these videos, but for all the "efforts to compare the trucks equally", you really have to take these reviews not-so-seriously.
@andrewd7795
@andrewd7795 6 жыл бұрын
Ford had the lightest load but was the only truck without their towing gears. The Ford only had the 3.73 versus the 4.30, which is why it's gcwr was lower. Plus the difference between a GCWR of 19,500 and 20,500 is only 5%.

No F-Bdy Bs Ram has an unfortunate feature where the computer limits the RPMs in first gear to 4500. Ram's explanation is that this feature helps protect the engine. But it definitely slows it down when tested this way.

No F-Bdy Bs If you watch the videos of them testing the Ram (they have done a couple Ike challenges with it) they are stuck at one RPM level the whole time, which really limits their speed the entire test.

No disrespect to you Mr. Rodriguez cuz your of my Spanish race but you in your heart know that even if they make a gas Chevy it will not quit unlike Ford will and even on the news their always talking about Ford engines burning up and diesel trucks save more gas and put out more power. I went to college and I know scientific things and the engineers at Chevy got it locked down on making the best truck available for towing very heavy loads so I would advise that you dumb the Ford before it comes back and bites you in the ass and go to a Chevrolet dealership and test drive the Chevy duramax diesels and you'll see how beautiful of a truck it is with its powerful 6.9 litre v8 engine and you'll see why it's a Chevy world
