I have the 7.3. I dont tow much and this engine is plenty capable, $10K + less, no DEF, less fuel, oil, filter cost. And the 7.3 is actually quicker off the line until you reach 55 or so.

I Just purchased the 2023 6.8L Gasser. First gas truck I have owned in over 6 years. So far I love everything about it. Smooth ride for a Super Duty truck. Don't need to tow super heavy loads and the Diesel in California is more expensive than regular gas. I cannot wait to take it for a long road trip. I have around 2300 miles on it right now.

People are ate up with stupid about Diesel trucks. I am a retired truck driver and can tell you def problems are rampant screw a diesel for a everyday driver your asking for trouble. The 7.3 or 6.8 with the appropriate gear ratio for what your gonna do with the truck will be more than good for most. My buddy has had nothing but issues out of his 6.7 pulls his fifth wheel fine but constant issues with regen. Think he is gonna buy a gasser soon.

I agree with almost everyone in the video. My 2021 F550 is the 6.7. It pulls a 40 foot gooseneck all week. It has 170,674 miles and has worked through 47 states. I also have a 2022 F350 srw, single cab with the 7.3 gas. I bought it to tow bumper pull toys. They are both perfect for what I use them for. And no other manufacturer compares. Great video

Thank goodness for options, IMHO unless you are towing more than 15,000 lbs or live in the mountains, the 7.3 is more than enough, plus the aftertreatment systems SUCK when the repair or replacement times come. I do own a 2022 F250 with the 7.3 with a 4.30 gear and have not run out of power yet.

So I've noticed that, for the most part, those who were a little older said the 7.3 while the younger crowd perferred the 6.7 "because of the power." If it were me, I would pick 7.3 also. I'm a suburban boy and if I can't tow it with an F-250 gas, I don't need it, or it's too expensive. On top of that, I'll never tap into the power available for that motor, and I don't want to deal with the maintenance associated with it.

I’ve had both 6.2 gas and 6.7 diesel for work trucks with a new gas 250 on the way with I assume the 6.8. I work in the oil industry for a chemical company so we haul not tow. Unless I’m hauling over mountains the gas trucks usually do fine. The diesels have great power and torque but the cost is definitely higher maintenance. If I were looking to buy one with my own money for myself I’m probably going with the 7.3 because I don’t need the torque for towing heavy loads, lower maintenance costs, and even the 6.2 I was driving yesterday can get 16 mpg
@chadgailey6832

For regular driving, 7.3 no question. For towing, the 6.7, and it’s not the power, it’s the exhaust brake that makes the difference for me towing through the mountains. I wanted the 7.3 when I bought my 6.7, but I’m glad I got the oil burner.

I like the responses for the techs. I still love my 2001 7.3L F350 Lariat Crew Cab. ZERO DEF and I can fix about 90% of anything that goes wrong with it in my driveway. Also with a few mods, like a Hydra Chip, some gauges to monitor my EGT and TGT's I can tow just about anything. The ride was rough until I put some Sulatic Shackles on it, now it's a really smooth ride. If it did have the cash, I'd take the front end and interior off a new truck and put it on my 01, so I could have the reliability, ease and low cost maintenance and all the bells and whistles too. Thanks for the great video, loved it. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

Having had a 6.7 - even tho it was a super early 2011, Job 1(Apr 2010 build) and 100% fault free, would still prefer that engine especially if we were hauling another 12K 5er. If it was a daily driver truck, I'd possibly opt for a 7.3 and save on the cost of that $8-10K diesel option plus that buck a gallon more for diesel where I live
@JacobWinkle

Gas version is what I'd pick. Even if you're towing. If you don't have a CDL or some states a Class B license. You can't go over your GCWR 26,001lb and if you do. That's a DOTs wet dream. Ease of maintenance, Reliable, Cost, no DEF, dont have to worry about Regens or going into limp mode. More pros to a gas over the diesel. Maybe if you asked me 20 years ago, it would be a different story but ever since the EPA cracked down on diesels. Its not anymore reliable then a gas now. Even if you wanted to put a supercharger on the 7.3L for example would prolly still be cheaper then getting the normal diesel compared to the Hight Output diesel.

I’m not sure the diesel makes sense in an F250 because the diesel has 500 pounds less payload capacity because of the weight and most people are over payload not towing capacity when towing anything heavy. I’m still convinced 90% of people don’t factor in the trailer tongue to their payload like they’re supposed to.

I’m surprised nobody said that they would order a diesel based on the fact that you can put many more miles on them versus a gas engine and if you wanted it to be, it could be the last truck you ever buy. Depending on many factors, and how it used however, that’s one of the biggest reasons I ordered mine with a diesel engine. I only occasionally pull heavyweight, but with the cost of trucks, and the way things are going politically with the push for going to electric vehicles, I’m picking the diesel.
