Really doesn't prove much. I had a patch I went back to about a dozen or more times and still pulled out gold with the same souped up SD 2000. With all the grass tufts, rocks and little trees you approach from different angles and you get more. I am talking about a five acre patch that delivered hundreds of nuggets. When i first got there I walked five feet and picked up a solid ouncer. The next biggest after that was a half ouncer.

I'm an addicted follower, asking for your opinion on the gold monster 1000? For myself, want to get out there & see if I can find some color, would the 1000 be a good investment???? Thank you!! Great video as always!!👍
@USMiner5 жыл бұрын
Hi and thank you, I haven't used a GM 1000, but when my Gold Bug 2 finally breaks down I might get one to replace it as I've been impressed with the ones I've seen in action. However, if you do other types of detecting then an Equinox 800 might be a more thrifty and useful bet. Just make sure you have gold large enough to detect around, that's the major hurdle with any gold detector.

I had seen this vid sometime ago but didn't catch before that you were in the Gold Basin here. I also think I told you that I was planning on working the hills on the Bahde 17 and 18 on some comment somewhere... I meant the hills at the Hoppy 1-4. Not sure if you recall those claims or not, or if you ever worked them. I do realize that you typically work unclaimed gold fields, which I may end up doing the same at some point. Just curious, when you stay in Gold Basin do you camp out there too? I am pitching a tent on site and wondering if you had any thoughts or advice regarding overnight stays there?
@USMiner8 жыл бұрын
The Hoppy's were better for meteorites than gold for me. I parked my camper on it a few times. I got a couple 300+ gram meteorites out of there. I thought the owner told me he dropped that claim or something, maybe gave it to the GPAA, or took it away...I can't remember what he said now.

Hey great videos. I'm with a group called SouthernRelics "we are on KZbin as well" out of South Carolina. I'm taking a trip to El Paso for 2 weeks. Taking my AT GOLD with me. Is there any where near that area you could recommend for me to detect? Any help would be great. Thank you for all the great videos, hope to hear from you soon.
@USMiner5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm not very familiar with the area around El Paso but I'm not sure it's an area with much known nugget production. I think you would need to get over around Tucson or up to Hillsboro, NM (or maybe into Mexico) to get more into traditional nugget ground. But again I'm not very familiar with the area so there could be places I don't know about.

Hello, USMINER... In Arizona do you need any kind of permits to medal detect?? Or maybe you could point me in the direction of some rules and regulations? Any information for a new comer to the hobby would be appreciated! Love your videos hope I can be as successful as you!

No permit needed to prospect casually. The BLM regulates prospecting on federal land, that would be the place to start.

Great vid. Just one question..... How many of those nuggets were out of reach of your 4500? In other words, did you find these because of the new technology or just because were having another swing?
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
I detected all those areas pretty thoroughly with my 4500 over the course of a few years with a number of different coils. It's hard to be certain I didn't just miss something but it seems to me the 4500 just never heard those few I missed and the new technology gets the credit. I pulled many hundreds of nuggets out of those patches with the 4500, so it got the bulk.
@DesertDetective8 жыл бұрын
Also, I notice you're not ever wearing snake gardz... How often in the Gold Basin do you run into them? I realize Nov isn't snake season and perhaps you shot this vid out of season as well but I have been told even out of season I need to be careful and others recommend I wear them... Thoughts?
@USMiner8 жыл бұрын
I do own snake chaps and I should wear them more often. I see more rattlers in Wyoming then I do in Arizona so I guess I'm just used to them, grew up around them. I would never recommend not wearing them to a person so use your judgement, better safe than sorry.

+USMiner Ok, just wanted to make sure. I was pretty sure. Hope Az. is treating you well this fall and winter. Is that where you're going to be oil Spring? I am also a big fan of the Hermit Pick btw…the originator was a friend and he came up with a real winner of a pick design.
@USMiner9 жыл бұрын
+David McGiffert It was Bunk right? Hermit is still the first pick I reach for when I go out, just wish the shovel part was more durable. Had planned to stay fall/winter/spring but heading back much sooner. I've hit a bunch more patches with the Z since this vid and haven't got much of anything worth filming. To my surprise I did much better in NV in ground completely new to me. I'm running the Z all out lately too - Thold back up to 25, Sens maxed, Normal ground, no smoothing, etc. I just didn't miss much with the 4500 and the gold isn't there anymore.

I just watched a video warning me about the guys making videos as paid adverts......wait a minute
@USMiner8 жыл бұрын
You think Minelab paid me to make a video on the lackluster performance of their flagship detector? Not much of an advertisement. Just to be clear here - I have not, nor will I ever make a paid advert video nor does any company provide me with free equipment - everything I use I bought myself. There are plenty of company shills out there for detector companies disguised as independent users, but I am definitely not one of them.
@NewportStudio7 жыл бұрын
I've been detecting for a while with a VLF & really really thinking about a Minelab. It seems from this video that the 7000 is better than the GPX? Or would you just go for a 4500 & call it a day? Awesome video, thanks man!
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
I sold my 7000, to me it's a detector best used for cleaning out patches. The 4500/5000 are lighter and have a wider coil selection so I prefer them for prospecting for new areas. The 7000 is definitely more sensitive and will pick up types of gold that are invisible to the GPX series though. So selection is dependent on situation, if you can afford the price tag and aren't swinging it on inclines a lot where weight is a factor then the 7000 is the best detector out there right now, but in my opinion the price makes infeasible to own when all my patches are now cleaned - the 5000 armed with one of the newer spiral wound coils (Evolution, Elite) manages to get close in performance.

Actually I bought it when it first came out and was $10,000. But I paid it off in about 4 months (see: my other videos). Still, I'll be the first to say Minelab's detectors are offensively overpriced. But I'll also be the first to say that (to my chagrin) no other detector manufacturer is competing with them right now. Bring on the competition!
