Pairing a i7 3770 with a 6700 XT will result to a big bottleneck which the bare minimum CPU wise that wouldn't give a bottleneck would be something like the i5 8400 or the i7 8700.
@RememberThisTech

Hi there, I agree it's a big bottleneck. But I also mentioned at the end of the video that one realistically wouldn't pair this gpu with this cpu. But if a person had to, they could do it and get by until they could get a new mono and cpu upgrade. Peace meal one part at a time. I do have an i7 8700, but I can't test it with the 6700xt currently as it's running my linux server :(. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate the good tips and feedback :)

Hey Laurence. Yeah these older i7-3770 cpus are still pretty powerful today!
@EcksGamer
@EcksGamer 3 ай бұрын
@@RememberThisTech Not as powerful as you think because you don't want the CPU hitting close to 100% usage which you would want it less than 40% for your CPU and 100% on the GPU for a proper balance which at this point people could get for like $50 in the used market instead an R5 3600 which wouldn't use 100% of the CPU when gaming.
@RememberThisTech
@RememberThisTech 3 ай бұрын
@EcksGamer Very good point and your correct about the 3600. But that's assuming one already has an AM4 mobo and ddr 4 ram, otherwise that person could upgrade to a b550 board for 99 bucks and the 3600 for 50 bucks and 27 bucks for a 16gb ddr 3200 kit then upgrade to a 5900x or something later if the wanted. This video was more about showing a person they could stretch their older 3770 a lil bit more and upgrade a video card and save up to get the other parts of their upgrade like you mentioned later :)
@EcksGamer

@@RememberThisTech You mean a 5700X3D since that is far better for gaming than a 5900X also a B550 board is AM4 as well and DDR4 memory is pretty cheap even in the used market which you could get a 32gb kit for like $50. Right now, you can get the Patriot Viper Elite II 32 GB 3600MHz for $54 brand new which is dirt cheap for memory and honestly in this day and age 16gb is just the bare minimum and the cheapest 16gb kit is $32 so paying like $20 more for double the memory is the better buy. One reason why i also pointed out the R5 3600 and not something like the 5700X3D is because there are always people that would be looking to build a new system and also spend less than $700 for it which you could easily slap a R5 3600 into a cheap B550 board in a decent mATX case with good enough airflow with something like a RX 6650 XT and get great gameplay on high to very high settings 1080p/1440p.

@EcksGamer All great points. 32 gb kits vary here around 60 something for a decent name brand and the 5700x3d is still around $179 ish. If I had access to a Micro Center I'd love to get my hands on a 3d cpu as they always have great in store deals.

Wow, that's so close to my own setup, it's scary.... i7-4770, MSI Z97 Gaming 5, 24gb Ram, and a hellhound 6700xt. I play all the games, OK cyberpunk could be faster, and star citizen won't go above 10fps, but everything else plays pretty good 60-100 fps on average. still, am preparing to upgrade my cpu soon.

Recently I upgraded my i5 3570k with a Ryzen 5800x3d keeping my Rx 580. With the i5 I got around 50-60 fps in BF1 on medium settings but frametimes were really inconsistent and couldn't get the rx 580 to run at 100%. Now it runs smoothly at 100 fps on high. A live frametime graph would've been nice to see
@EcksGamer

You mean you built a new system not upgraded also you're going to need to replace that GPU since it would hold back the 5800X3D a bit which you would need something like a 6650 XT.

@@XXxBRSAxXX I would go for a 7900 GRE instead of a 7800 XT because right now the 7800 XT is about $480, and the 7900 GRE is about $530 which that performance boost will pay off and also last a lot longer.

Hey there Jose! SO awesome of you to help out the young hard working fellow! :) A Z68 motherboard is still pretty good and that 4770 is powerful even today! I use my RX580 "soyo" all the time and you're right at 1080p it runs most everything smooth! Also your spot on that WIndows 11 slows some game FPS compared to windows 10. But windows 10 looses it's support next month so if you find that optimized win 11 version let me know how it works! Thanks again!

Good video. Overclock that cpu! Even 10% could help a lot. Most 3770k cpu's usually top out at around 4.4-4.5ghz so your mileage may vary since it's a non-k version.

I stopped using my 3770k in 2022. With the 3770k and an Nvidia 3080, I was able to average 52.22fps, max 70fps, and min 15fps, and that was at almost 1440p. But I did have it running at 4.5Ghz. I used to have it at 4.6Ghz, but I lost the settings when I did a bios update, and I didn't bother trying to play around with it to get it back to 4.6. The 3080 is better than the 6700XT which can definitely explain the higher FPS, but your far higher min FPS is very interesting! Ya know it's the type of CPU people give away, but being a 4 core/8 thread, it can do very decently as you discovered with new games.

Hey there. Yeah the only reason I upgraded my 3770 to my 9900k was video editing became pretty difficult. Then on to my 13700k. I could have oc this cpu but realy didn't have time :( It's now my video capture computer as I rebuilt my dual purpose server. Wish I had a 3080 to test... perhaps in time I'll find a deal. Thede cpus still go for around 25 to 30 on ebay. I wouldn't turn it down for free though lol.

@@RememberThisTech I'm not sure if I'll ever get rid of the 3080. Doing all these videos, how often now have you told yourself: "Damn it. I wish I never got rid of that hardware years ago!" I remember throwing away my Adaptec 2940UW and 10k RPM Cheetah thinking ha when am I ever gonna use this. Now I'm wishing I never even threw away my mid 90s gaming rig of a Pentium Pro overclocked to 233Mhz with 256MB of ram, Monster Voodoo pass through card, that 10k RPM Cheetah, and the big creamy colored and glorious 90s PC case. If you toss anything out today, you may put yourself back in square 1 of wishing you never did! I had an Nvidia 2070, 980, 780, 480, 8800s, etc. As priorities and time availability changes, I may put back together my 2000s AMD with DFI motherboard gaming rig and my 3770k with my EVGA motherboard. Ah, the memories with each rig!

At least you'll know that the CPU is working at its full potential with that Radeon. I have both of those parts (not in the same PCs, though) and the 3770 is still a decent budget gaming option for less demanding titles, although it is very much showing its age now.

Then play what they play untill later they can save up and get a new cpu ram etc. So I'm just showing what one can expect with this odd combo. Thanks for sharing
