Dealer tech here. While the price increases have definitely hurt sales, it's our quality that has nose diver. 70% of my workload these days are brand new vehicles under 10k miles in for warranty issues. It's not just jeep, it's all of stellantis.

This isn’t a hard problem. Reduce prices 25-30 percent across the board. That’s what it took for me. There are deals out there but it shouldn’t have to be a deal. Make that the normal price. I got my 65k gladiator for 46k. That’s what needs to happen.

You suggested Jeep should think about adding features to make Jeeps more worth the asking price, and I see your point for modern families. But, I would actually like the exact opposite. I'd like them to remove features until they can sell them for a decent price. I loved the core old models that ran forever and did not have all of the complication adding to reliability issues.

I bought a new Rubicon in 2014. It has 65k miles on it. Instead of spending 60k + on a new one I restored and upgraded what I have for 20k. New paint, suspension, wheels, top, sound system etc. It feels like a new Jeep for a fraction of a new one. I'll be enjoying it for another 10 years. Thank you very much!

Ya can't add all these features and keep prices down at the same time. Lane departure, 7 air bags, cameras in the windshields, aux batteries, 12 inch displays. When I grew up one could replace a tail light bulb, now it's a $500 tail light assembly with sensors. All this tech costs money and adds up fast. I don't want it and I don't want to pay for it

I agree they need to price the jeep accordingly to what the consumer earns. When I left the Army in 2008 I bought a wrangler 2 door sport with hard top for 24000 dollars. Of course it was manual and had manual windows but nevertheless the price was great. Fast forward to now and yes it’s out of control.

And attend some of these Jeep events throughout the country. I know that JPP was at Smokey Mountain but were any Stellantis execs floating around in the crowd? Doubt it... They need to participate in the active events like the activities in Townsend or on the trails in the area. That is where they are going to get to know their customer base and what we both need and importantly, can afford. Making electric Fiats is not the answer.

As someone who spent over 20 years working for Jeep going back to the last of the Jeep Eagle days , the first thing Jeep needs to do and Chrysler as a whole is ditch this CEO! As for Jeep I love my JKU but after the TJ / LJ they got to glorified and started to loose what Jeep was all about. Don’t get me wrong the JK platform done correct is an awesome trail rig but, by far the TJ / LJ powertrain and the simplicity of those years were far better. The YJ was awesome too in my opinion. Jeep needs to go back to its core. I’d like to see a retro CJ type with a check the box option list for everyday use, trails and climbing and those mall crawlers out there.

I bought a 2016 Sahara jku in 2018. Had 21k miles and cost $24,000. Regeared, lockers, axle swapped, bigger tires, etc. all for 8k. So $32k in and it’s better than a rubicon. Today new rubicon is $54k

Jeep needs to take a hard look in the mirror and make a better product. Mirrors that stay on the vehicle when the doors are removed. Modular hard top that is easily removed by one person and easy to store. Ford corrected some of Jeep’s shortcomings on their Bronco. Jeep can do better and add more options included in more trims. The asking price of these currently does not justify the current offering. Time for them to innovate and really move the brand forward! I don’t think it will happen unless they sell to a company that really cares about its products and customers.
@christopherjb274

Fuck the mirrors on the A pillar. I think Ford touts that as an improvement over jeep but i disagree. I can order the mirrors on kit from jeep or a million after market companies. I have the choice to have mirrors on the doors, on the a pillar, both, or no mirrors. They are usually one of the first things to get destroyed off road on tight trails. I like options and thats what jeep needs. More engine options, more tire size options ect...in 2021 i could get the 2.0 t. The 3.6. The 4xe, the 3.0 diesel and the 6.4 hemi...after next year we are down to boring old engines. They need better low end torquey performace engine options to go with the 3.6 and 2.0.

Agree! A modular hard top would be an awesome feature and the top would be so much more functional. Think about it, you could be anywhere and decide to take take the sections off, strap them down in the back and then if the weather changes, etc. just put the sections back on. They should really do this! The mirror idea is spot on too. Nice one

As a former TJ owner, I'm doing anything I can to steer her away from Jeep at the moment.

They need to keep the Wrangler the way it is, but also offer a smaller rig the size of a CJ/YJ/TJ(or even smaller like the original GPW) but keep the body on frame, solid axles, etc. Then offer a real body on frame SUV like the old Cherokee to compete with 4Runner. I haven’t owned a Jeep in years. Every couple years I look, but just cannot justify what you get for the money. The biggest problem I see with Jeep corporate is they are consistently 10-20 years late to the party. It took them forever to add factory lockers, 4-door wrangler, bring back a pickup, bring back a full-size. They’re just always behind the curve for what people want. If they made a body on frame Cherokee with at least a solid rear axle, factory lockers, and a boxy body they would sell the shit out of it.

I agree that prices have gotten too high. I got a new 2024 fully loaded sahara (that I ordered) with the leather/power seats, one touch roof, towing package, door sills and running boards, all the safety features, and upgraded tire rims. That made the MSRP $62,500. That is the price of a good luxury SUV. Now, I got a great trade in value for my 2019 2-door Sport S so that brought the price way down. However, Jeep needs to keep the creature comforts and find a way to make it more affordable. I love my jeep and I am hoping leadership can turn this around.

The problem Matt is that Jeep has lost its identity. Back in the 80’s and early 90’s Jeep was a no frills brand. No airbags, no fancy instrument cluster or luxuries in the Wrangler. It got dirty, you hosed it out. It was a NICHE vehicle that catered to a NICHE group of people who became fiercely loyal to the brand. Then slowly they started to add features so they could market the Wrangler to. EVERYONE. That in my opinion is where they went wrong. They should have listened to their core audience who does not want a luxury vehicle that commands an almost six figure price tag. Time to go back to their roots.
@offgridphotos

Thank you for the updates. I agree they are pricing themselves of the market. Even as a kid Jeeps were always a bit more than their counterpart vehicles (all being in their own class) and as you said it is a fun lifestyle vehicle. Problem is they are wanting luxury car pricing for something that is missing even basic creature comforts available stock on a KIA (lane assist, blind spot mentoring and "assisted" self driving for a few examples). If I am paying 60 to 100k for some of the Jeep trim levels I need to be seeing something for it. I waited our for the 2024 refresh last year but I could not imagine paying 70k for my Jeep and having a 5 year old tech interior. I am not a flashy person and while I like my nav and wireless car play I also get not wanting some of this fluff... But man if I am paying what I am for this Jeep I don't want to be shown up by the kid in his 2015 Civic that is more tech in it than my Jeep. Of course, where I work ever, 16 year old pulls into the private school in their brand new Rubicon Extreme Recon and will never see anything but a parking lot. So Stellantis also made a conscious decision to move the Jeep into the luxury market and that seems to be backfiring.

People say they want a stripped out 2 door, but you can buy one now new for 30k and no one does. They want middle of the road/ nicer stuff for lower prices. Jeep needs to lower prices on the higher trims to compete. Why buy a wagoneer when it’s Escalade money? Why buy a grand Cherokee summit when it’s X5 money? This is coming from someone who owns a 21 Trackhawk and a 24 392…. It’s just too much for a Jeep unless it’s special. A v6 rubicon shouldn’t be 75k and a 4cyl grand Cherokee shouldn’t be 80k.

They could turn around the brand, by putting in an engine that competes with its competition, maybe like the hurricane in the Wrangler and gladiator. You really got to love Jeep to own one. It's already got the looks still capturing modern eyes, but recent Galvanic Corrosion has really been a turn off for most new Jeep owners. Most new owners would turn it in after the corrosion shows up/immediately resell after "paint" repair (remember Jeep decline a lot of these repairs). And like you said, not everyone would be jeeping through the mud; most average people would like use it everyday and not deal with simple silly designs like rain gutters trims dripping water inside; Uconnect 8" going blank/ghost finger, death wobble, back up camera, underbody rust and the list goes on! What I think Stellantis should do apart from the exuberant retail prices, at least to retain old customers (btw an insider once said to me it cost Jeep on avg $12000 to produce an all-equipped Rubicon (ok, ok marketing ..)) - they should offer/make sure long term fixes for JLs corrosion and provide upgrades for 18+ JLs Uconnect touch screens to better dissipate heat.

I’d love to see a suspension seat or Scheel-Mann for those long drives in the rubicon. They’re not bad but after 4, 6, or 8 hours they’re not the most comfortable. I put 66k on my 21 Gladiator in 2 years. LED Headlights should also be standard. The Halogens on my 23 Gladiator didn’t make it a month and had to go! How about backing the existing Jeeps to add value for reliability then make them more reliable so you dont have to worry about it

I want to order either the 2025 or 2026 6-speed manual transmission 2 doors Wrangler Sport. I would like to do it next year at the same time (September) to get the 2026 model but not sure if Jeep with all their new management will keep that engine or they will say no more manual transmission and I will be left in the dark.

You ain’t wrong. I bought my jeep before the prices went sky high but even at $40k, my Sport S has way fewer features than my wife’s CX5 which was $15k less. Jeep people (for the most part) don’t care about adaptive cruise control or blind spot navigation but it’s a hard pill to swallow when your $50k jeep doesn’t have features that vehicles far less expensive have on them. A Sport S unlimited with power windows, locks, and keyless entry and no other features should never cost more than $40k and that should also include an automatic transmission and hard top (soft top and manual should be even less).

Maybe fix the common things that seem to go wrong with a high percentage of the Jeep vehicles that leave the factory… corrosion? Locker sensor?

I built a 2025 on their website comparable to my 2020 Rubicon Unlimited.... $ 75k is crazy.... nobody can afford that....

Best of luck to em’. I sold my 2 door JL Rubicon. The quality of that thing was junk. Figured that out after only 3,000 miles. Should’ve listened to my gut b4 i purchased it. So glad I never sold my 90 YJ, 06 TJ Rubicon or my 01 Cherokee. They’ll be still be running long after that JL has been dead and recycled into some other thing like kids toys on a Walmart shelf or something.

Is there any true to jeep having over 38000 wranglers sitting on lots around the country?

Yes the problem is QC, cost, and dealer service quality. Jeep Board Meeting: Hey guys we realize the prices are too high and lots are piling up with inventory. We should lower the prices this year, hell no let’s just increase them by a little bit.

I have looked for months at a rubicon x. After back and forths with the salesman, he came down to a "deal" of a price...65k. So after doc fees, etc, I would be well over 70k. Jeep lost me. I have owned wranglers since 1995. Bought a loaded colorado zr2 for 46k Saturday. I still have my 2010 jk, but won't buy another jeep until something happens with the quality and pricing.

If Jeep slacked the price by half I’m not sure if it would help Carlos T thinks these things are exotic vehicles cause they priced them that way my DIL ‘s Renegade could drive itself to the dealership all by itself.

Been fighting them for 4 years for them to fix my corrosion on my 2019. Even purchased the extended warranty. I’ve owned jeeps for 25 years and this will be my last one until this company once again stands behind their products. Between corporate and the dealership, no accountability. Shameful

Finally you guys said it, "Jeeps are too expensive." That's it! Plain and simple. Up here in Canada... You don't "build and price" on the website, cuz you know that number is bogus. But at a DEALER, a Rubicon is like 90 grand and over. That's just whacked! And no! No more options, I too don't want more options... I want a Jeep! Whether it has apple car play, or the size of the screen is NOT a deal breaker for me ... I want an offroader that doesn't have alot of electronics and crap that will fail. To me, our 2019 Wrangler Sahara is perfect.... And my 1988 XJ! Ha ha! Capable, and I can buy ALOT of cool shit for it. Sorry I don't agree with the, "they need more features." If it's to improve the reason we buy them... To off-road! Then yes. But I don't need a big screen TV on my dash!

To preface, I'm a multiple Jeep owner (2 JL's and a TJ), but I'm going to set that all that aside and get critical. In all fairness, "$17,000 for a brand new TJ in 2000", adjusted for inflation in 2024 is $31,077. Not too far off from your $40,000. Even without today's "standard amenities", you're still getting a lot more tech in these newer Wranglers. And Matt, you didn't address the Bronco in the room. I think Jeep needing to address their sales slump is most likely due in part with the introduction of some competition that has had some time off to prepare and shake up the market with offering some features and options that has caught Jeep off guard. And despite Jeep's skyrocketing sticker price, there are STILL quality control issues that Jeep won't fix. Who is going to buy a $60k jeep that is going to start having corrosion issues in just two years, and then they have to find a dealership who is going to do the warranty work? Jeep just hasn't done enough to win over the "casual Jeep owner market". It's going to take more than a larger screen to keep people from trying out a Bronco. Most of us that follow your content are avid Jeep owners and have a love and respect for the history of the brand. And too often in recent years, I feel that Jeep / Stallantis has no idea what the customers like us want. Combine those issues with the cars overall not selling, and Jeep needs to figure out their market and how to stop the bleeding. Like I commented in your last video, I think Jeep is going to be very conservative with production in 2025 as they shore up the 2024 inventory that is aging on dealer lots and prepare for what's next for the Wrangler.

Jeep is too worried about 'technology' upgrades and the suburban market than their traditional customer base. They've got to get back to the basics. Standard cubic inches under the hood, traditional analog gauges, minimal tech ( only what's needed), good sound system with improved seating.

Well before Stellantis took over, a major South African 🇿🇦 safari tour operator banned Jeep from 4x4 overland travel, as its unreliability could have lead to fatalities. American vehicles are known for unreliability, but Jeep seemed worse than others. Ditto Chrysler Grand Caravan. The real old WWII Jeep was great, also the Wagoneer and Gladiator of 50-odd years ago. Jeep lost direction over the past thirty or forty years. It would be really nice to see a proper turnaround. My Darlingmost Wificle and I both love Jeep. Please fix them.

Yet another CEO who has no concept of building a brand for long-term stability and profitability. Instead, it’s all about making money RIGHT NOW so they cut corners, compromise on quality, and squeeze the life out of their customer base and then can’t seem to understand why the brand is collapsing. I have ZERO faith that he will be able to turn Jeep around. Glad I bought a Jeep already before they starting feeling themselves like Madonna.

1, the biggest problem with Jeep is the cost. My 2015 Rubicon Hard Rock Edition was 45K when i bought it new in February of 2015. a new Rubicon X equipped the same of my Rubicon Hard Rock is now 75k! same engine, same trans, same features just newer the new model with new sheet metal and Infotainment system. i know inflation is a pain in the A$$ but 30K? that not inflation, thats theft. there is nothing wrong with my Hard Rock other than its about to hit 100k miles, so i cannot justify spending almost 75K when my old one is paid off and the only real difference in the old one verse the new one is the infotainment system and updated sheet metal. same goes for the gladiator. I really want a Gladiator, but again the cost is just way to high when compared against a Toyota Tacoma or even a Chevy Colorado. although I will never buy another Toyota again after my 06 Tacoma. biggest piece of junk ever made. and i am not really a Chevy or Ford guy anymore and I hate their styling. 2. Get rid of auto stop-start! everyone freaking hates it. its worse than the old automatic seat belts. tell the tree huggers to go F- themselves and just let me have my AC in the desert southwest when sitting at a stop light. and F- off with that "it saves on Gas and CO2 emissions BS" every jeep on earth saving .25 mpg with auto start-stop enabled for a year will not make the smallest dent in the amount of CO2 Emissions China makes in 1 single day. so give people their freedom back and at least makes in disabled by default or the ability to permanently disable it. and those that want it can turn it on every time they get in, and i can sit in the comfort of my AC here in the desert southwest while stop at a light. also loose all the hybrid crap on the wrangler and wrangler unlimited. no one want extra tech on thier jeep that can break off road. 3. do we really need 3 colors of Grey/Silver? same goes with all the SUVs. why are my options on a grand Cherokee only white with black trim, black on black, bronze with black trim, silver with white trim, dark blue with black trim and dark red with black trim? that 6 colors. no one wants a boring SUV with only 6 lame colors. 4. they finally killed off the Renegade last year, now they need to kill the Grand Cherokee L. it simplifies the line up. Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer for the 3-row crowd. Grand Cherokee on the high end of the 2 row SUV mall crawlers. Keep the Wrangler but get rid of all the tech. and give us a solid base model. manual windows, manual locks, basic stereo, and no other nanny state tech etc. rebrand the Wrangler unlimited as the Cherokee and keep the Compass as a cheap entry level Jeep SUV.
