Tried this myself. It can't be done because the thermae pitch shift is created by altering the clock for the BBD. Lvx doesn't respond in the right way. The two things that can do it are the line6 helix Adriatic - though you will need a modulation source - and the eventide rose - also now the h90. But - put the pitch block in the pre location then modulate the pitch with a square lfo will get you closer. I used two modulations - one for the octave up and down, then one to turn it on and off to give the delay at pitch. It's a completely different thing of course because you don't get the speed change, but it opens up other possibilities- - like eg. reverse thermae.

I have a Polymoon and Thermae... you get artifacts (sometimes work... sometimes don't) from the Thermae pitch-shift w/ sequence. Just nature of the beast.

A valiant effort Nick! I think it shows a) what an amazingly well designed pedal Thermae is... And b) how well designed and intuitive the LVX is and how easy it is to get some incredible sounds out of it. Brilliantly explained again nick, talking us through what you are actually doing is like gold dust.

Thanks Doug. I was trying to get somewhere in the region and I feel like I got there BUT I knew I wasn’t going to totally replicate such a classic in the thermae that’s filled with all the goodness those analogue chips mixed with digital brainz bringz

Just started watching your videos this week. Thank you for the deep dives. You may have already covered this and I haven’t come across it yet. Right before the Big Sky MX came out I picked up the Strymon Timeline, Big Sky and Mobius. I decided to send them back and i picked up the Big Sky MX and was going to wait for a new timeline and Mobius but now the Meris LVX has caught my eye and I’m trying to decide what to do. I was wondering what you might do in my situation? I am fairly new to the pedal world and not very knowledgeable. Thanks again for the videos and insight. ❤

Hey my buddy. Firstly thanks for stoping by. If you’re new to this world then you’re going to find lots of videos here on the channel that you might find useful. Come find me on Instagram too…we could dm there if that helps. So I’ve owned all these pedals over the past 10 years since they came out. all great in their own way. If it was between the LVX and a new timeline and the new timeline (which we’re all assuming will be a thing at some point) is anything like the new bigsky mx…then I still feel like that and the LVX would be very different pedals. The LVX is essentially a multi effects pedal imo. It’s crazy good. But it depends of course what you want from your pedals. Ive got near 20 videos on LVX now so loads to dive into and if you search back loads on bigsky and timeline too

If CB ever does a Thermae mkii with stereo, I’m sure it’ll be expensive because these BBD chips are each like $30 from what I’ve heard, and you’d need 8 of them like Meraki has, but even at $600-700 I think CB would still sell a ton.

cool video! I never had a Thermae, but once owned a Skeleton Prince In Limbo (later models were called 80Tape Limbo) analog delay with ARP mode. It preceded the Thermae and had an ARP mode doing similar stuff, by pulse wave modulation of the delay time. I also tried to recreate this on my LVX: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pp-lepidiNShqbM

I would say if you don't plan to use the dip switches or some of the advanced features, then there are far better delays - or just get an LVX and be happy with your decision.

I have a Thermae and an Lvx. The Thermae out of all the other chase bliss pedals I have is the one I’d least like to sell simply because it sounds “beautiful !” The Meris LVX is a game changer in different way but i sure as hell can’t see me ever wanting to sell it either. These two pedals are really amazing and both have the “I’ve been designed by a genius!” factor . The Mercury X is also a game changer but that’s getting off topic.
@thesurgingmass
@thesurgingmass 11 ай бұрын
No way. The Thermae is amazing. Had two of them I ran in stereo. You don’t have to use the pitch stuff if you don’t want. The delay is just…. bliss.
The Meris LVX can't do basic delays right! Or can it......
