I hate that so many games use UE5 nowadays. Software Lumen is built into the UE5 engine, and most UE5 games don't let you switch it off, which means there isn't a way to purely rasterize most UE5 games. If there was an option to, UE5 games would run much better. Rasterized lighting looks better than software ray tracing, in my opinion.

@@theivadim When developers are given enough time and resources, they can make a video game look incredible using rasterization. Even lighting, shadows, reflections, and refractions can be done really well with rasterization when developers put the time in. For other assets such as textures and geometry, rasterization looks just as good as RT/PT. It's a shame that developers are starting to leave rasterization behind at least when it comes to single-player games.

@@theivadim When it comes to lighting, reflections, shadows, and refractions, RT can render them way more accurately. For everything else, though, such as textures and geometry, rasterization can do just as well. The focus for future ray-traced games should be increasing the number of rays and bounces for the effects that use RT instead of making the game fully path traced. That will have a much bigger improvement on visual quality and graphics. Future ray-traced games should have ray-traced lighting, reflections, shadows, and refractions. The rest of the game assets should be rasterized. That way, you get the benefits of rasterization and ray tracing. Hybrid rasterization/ray tracing is the way to go forward.

@@Gamer-q7v dude ... RT/PT has nothing to do with textures or geometry ... RT is soley dealing with lighting , shadows and reflections. and PT does increase the rays cast and bounces dramatically .... in RT just the camera is casting rays into the scene .. in PT the light sources themselves actually cast the rays that's the difference. PT is throwing around alot more rays than RT for this reason. try a little research before talking about shit you don't actualy know. and for the record i have a bachelors in game art design so i do know what i'm talking about.

To have a GPU today that manages well 4 K everywhere, you have to have a lot of performance margin that advances, and which is used when the graphic engine and the game is badly succeeded .. fsr 3.0 is just fsr 2.2 frame generation, wait for implementation of 3.1 version of fsr and there you will be able to talk about graphics issues and compare it to dlss
@theivadim17 күн бұрын
When I say “FSR 3” in the video, what I’m actually referring to is FSR 3.1, for the exact reason you mentioned. The upscaling in FSR 3 is essentially just FSR 2.2. FSR 3.1 is the real 3.0 version.
@gergoturi755917 күн бұрын
In case of Stalker 2, FSR is truly ugly, however TSR looks great and can be used with any GPU. But my problem is the game pretty much requires frame generation and regardless of brand, I'm not particularly happy about that tech in a shooter.
@theivadim15 күн бұрын
Frame generation is fine when added on top of 90+ FPS in this game to enhance the experience. It’s not designed to compensate for lacking performance. In other cases frame gen is okay to use when you have at least 60 FPS. And in some rare cases you can get away with using it to uplift FPS from 50+ to 60+.
@gergoturi755915 күн бұрын
@theivadim FG still makes the game feel slightly less responsive, than you think it should be, the fluidity fools you a bit. You're right about the high base frame rate requirement for the tech to work, but more often, than not, devs use it as a patchwork to address poor performance. And that is the main issue. Also you can check, FG adds ghosting to holosights in the game, which looks stupid. If this tech was solely used to enhance the experience, it would be a clever addition, but not with these issues.
@theivadim15 күн бұрын
Indeed, it needs work, but for a first-generation feature, it performs surprisingly well in most games. I find myself using it every now and then. Of course, I still prefer resolution upscaling to achieve my desired FPS, but Frame Generation is a nice option to have.

@theivadim15 күн бұрын
That depends on how much you’re willing to lower graphics settings and use resolution upscaling. Generally, if you want to maintain a similar level of experience, you should be prepared to upgrade your GPU every other generation - roughly every 4 years or so. Since GPUs are so easy to swap, I think it’s reasonable to treat them as a kind of ‘subscription.’ For example, you could buy the 5080 and sell the 4080 to recoup some of the cost. The money you lose can be viewed as the subscription fee for maintaining the level of PC gaming experience you want. Alternatively, you could skip a generation and do the same thing by swapping the 4080 for the 6080 in 2-3 years.

Radeon may not be good for Ray Tracing but it's suitable for those who loves tinkering and optimizing settings because most likely they won't be caring about Ray Tracing at all. But still sometimes main graphics settings alone won't do s***! Most of the time it osho requires aggressive upscaling as well to being able to achieve acceptable framerates and FSR definitely not good at that wicis turn me off instantly. Their frame generation was good though, they really need to improve their blurry, shimmery and pixelated mess upscaler. It ain't an insult by any means, even they confirmed themself that FSR is like a simple filter so don't expect it to look good. This is crucial especially at lower resolutions because well the visuals are already too low to start with so having a decent looking upscalers are very important as your last option. At least it don't look completely terrible straight away you know. If you asked me, there is definitely difference between 1080p+DLSS and 1080p+FSR. If you have seen enough, FSR is nowhere near to match DLSS, obviously. Even 1440p with FSR I don't think it would look good. 🤧🥲
