The internet has been and always will be the proprietary technology that has been commissioned by the US DoD. The global standards and protocols in the internet has been set by the same US DoD and adopted by the IEEE and other world body standards. Hence, Huawei is allowed to swim in the web much like the rest of us. Hence, US DoD and intelligence communities (5 eyes) can see what is considered confidential traffic throughout the web and trace its source.

The FBI had to employ the services of an Israeli security company to hack into the phone because they had no legal authority to compel Apple to comply.

The two thing people can't buy with money are time, and knowledge. If we look back in time, Huawei has invested both time and money into R&D toward 5G development, this is why they are ahead in 5G technology. By saying Chinese government has given Huawei support is complete meanless, Chinese government have money, however they cannot make people smart, if the people who work at Huawei do not have what it takes, they cannot come up with 5G technology. The Americans keeps on saying Chinese is stealing western tech, how can the Chinese steal something that the American don't have?

As far as I can tell all the Asian countries have a problem in this area as well, it's just not as pronounced as in the middle east. Then you will hear the line about..."oh, it's the culture"... what, a culture of oppression...please!

A great thank you to all three speakers for being neutral in your opinions and insights. What's the logic or what kind of mentality (hypocritically) is this: the US ("government") is willing to SUPPORT/FINANCE (out of jealousy, envy...) other companies to (work for the US government) topple/cripple/downplay HUAWEI (merely on the "assumption that it is financed by the Chinese government")

Huawei is the only company working with the scrutiny of and review by UK intelligent. In that point of view the Huawei is completely honest, clean and secure with their technology but due pressure from it's American allies. This really unfair from a democratic country, such as USA. US had done this before, by slowing, stopping companies or countries, in the 80s they did it with containing Japan, in the past with EU and now China. Huawei is one of the largest invested in technology and now they are reaping the reward and US are falling behind because US invest in wars.

Yes and No. They can prevent some Huawei services from domestic markets, but entirely get rid of Huawei affiliated products would be nearly impossible. But people have to look at it this way...this entire industry is all intertwined with many different parts from many different companies involving several countries. Some companies have highly value patents instead of parts. All they do is design and legal. Some companies don't do anything else but just make the parts. Some just make the equipment that makes the parts. There's so many unique things about this field. Not one country, region or company has complete control over it. It's been that way for decades. There's companies that do business with Huawei that has parts in Ericsson and Nokia too. Overall, Huawei is just one big piece of this puzzle.

Three experts also are good and very diplomatic indeed to please the imagined audience in their minds but with their professional pride not to fake or distort. Only thing I want to add is that all events so far around Huawei mght have quite unexpected impact on shaping a new round of the polictically correct thinking and expressions. People want to have simple answers to sophisticated questions. It is human nature.

Interesting and knowledgeable guests but says it all really when the university professor will not speak on behalf of the institution that he works for. This is all about who advances and controls the next generation of Technology here. The Americans have been overtaken in some areas by the Chinese and they clearly feel very uncomfortable. I'd say the Chinese are geniuses if they come out of this unscathed and deserving of me buying a P50. Sadly, I think we are diverging and will be forced to choose sides.

John made a very good point, when everyone is scrutinising at Huawei security now, it will be more lucrative for someone to slip into other providers, the more scrutiny Huawei had the more secure it will be, if I want to build my 5G network I definitely will choose the one on the hotspot because I will save a lot of verification cost and having the world top cyber security scrutinise it's system on my behalf, for free.

If Huawei is a private company, then why would Ren Zhen Fei handover reign of the company to some unknown person? Such thing is never heard of. The other thing is that a lot of conversation had mistook manufacturing for innovation. USA is still leading tech innovations, it's just that America's high cost had made it not fit for manufacturing, but it could change in the near future.
