The EP Bost dip switches inside for bass and treble cut!!!!!!!!!!

They have a habit of not reading the instructions and judging on partial features
@telecasterman18Ай бұрын
Came here to say this, BUT, if you read the user manual, it’s actually not a treble & bass switch... It’s a unity gain or +3dB on the left and a flat EQ or vintage EQ on the right.

I'd no idea the EP had internal switches😮 Thanks!😃
@parkerkenney61132 жыл бұрын
If you don’t know which one to get, get an eq pedal like the Boss GE7 because then you can boost what frequencies you want and you can boost the front end of your amp with the level control.
@parkerkenney61132 жыл бұрын
@UseTheSupeRsonic I used the GE7 for a while until I got a Pod Go which has an OCD pedal on it, which I find to be a great overdrive pedal.

There are a couple of internal dip switches in the EP Booster. Turn on the “bright switch” if you think it has too much bass. Just a tip.

Nice to see the comparison. The EP is my oldest pedal by far. It works with everything and adds a quality that I can’t replicate with eq changes. Everything after it in my chain sounds better.

I shut the first internal switch on the EP off (cuts base) and leave the treble on. In my opinion it goes from a little heavy on the base, to exquisite. .. like you said, all the way down the chain

Hello ! My favorite boost is not on your video , it's my TC electronics Spark ( i have the full one ,not the small ) ! it's for me the most versatile boost (clean to high gain ) , i use it on fx loop to boost my vox av30 , and i put an tube overdrive direct after my guitar and the sound is so HEAVY , very high gain sound ! my tc electronics boost the sound like 20db and you choose the eq fat-clean or mid , i use it in clean mode for very high gain sound , for me it's just the best booster pedal ! and it's not expensive pedal ! try it !!! In this video the best booster pedal it's the sure shot ! thanks for the video . take care and be safe !

The EP booster is more about the colour that it adds (secret sauce), not so much pushing tubes. It's supposed to emulate the preamp of the old Echo-Plex, if I'm not mistaken - if I am, I'm sure someone will quickly correct me

As soon as you get in a proper studio to record the engineer puts EQ, boost and compression on your signal. Usually you say “ wow, it sounds great! Must be because I’m in a studio w/ an engineer”. Took awhile to realize I just needed to add an EQ & boost pedals to my set up whenever and wherever. When you see David Gilmour playing comfortably numb onstage w/ two giant racks behind him it’s because he is just bringing all the gear that was used on his signal in the studio to get that heavenly tone. 👍

It honestly depends on what you want it to do... EP Boost is an always on fatten/color pedal. I've never really liked it for just boosting my sound for like a lead or something. For that I use GE-7 slight bump at 800hz and gain for my main board. And Spark mini for travel board.

Sometimes in a band situation you need a little more for certain parts. Can't always depend on your guitars volume to be enough. I use my Strat's volume but my dB-1 kicks in a lot more when I need it. And I play through a Boogie or pro tube Twin. Both have more than enough volume.

It seems that the boost pedal is used to drive the amp, not other pedals. Once you turned on the Morning Glory, it took over the sound and that's why the boost pedals all sounded the same then. Once you were back to boosting the amps, you heard a great amp boosted sound. Boosters only help the amp, and maybe add some EQ. I would add a boost to a tube amp any day. Great vid.

I liked the EP and the Benson the most. TC Electronic's Spark is visually grating to me and my board but I've always thought about getting one because their internal buffer is the ideal amount and having a Spark at the beginning and Polytune at the end of your chain would solve any buffer issues.

I have a Dunlop EP101 in the effects loop (or after dirt pedals if going into the front of an amp) and always on. Putting the “echoplex preamp” style of boosts after the gain has a much more pronounced effect and makes almost any gain sound great.

Very helpful video, good tempo and tight editing kept me watching. Great work! I wanted to like the Benson but the Greer just had more of that warm EP-girth. I can recommend running an EQ before the boost pedal to get more versatility without loosing the true character of your guitar tone.

The bass thump of the EP might be a tad much with darker sounding or bass heavy amps, but works a treat for a licks and solo's on the clean channel or to fatten up amps with a scooped voicing. I use the EP a lot on the clean channel of my RV MKI. I really like the Benson, but for now the EP stays. There's some magic sauce in there.

After playing around with various pedals the other day, I came to the conclusion that it would be great if there was a pedal that had both clean and treble boost facility. I do have separate pedals for this job, but I'm really trying to get the board down as slim as I can.

How you liking the benson so far? Does it pair well with drives?
@joeschlicht Жыл бұрын
@@haloskater24 Hi there. I'm liking the Benson so far. It pairs well with my drive for the most part, though I am not entirely sure I like it where I have it placed, which is before my overdrive (Hotcake). In this scenario, I use it to boost a mild overdrive setting for those times when I want a little more (which is often, latley)... But honestly, I'm not sure if I like what it does to the Hotcake. It seems to soften the transients a bit too much maybe? I go back and fourth if I like it...funnily enough I just tried moving it last evening for the first time... I put it after my overdrive, and that seems more transparent, it just makes my hotcake louder (which is what I need for lead tones) however, I quickly switched it back because I like the 2 overdrive scenario... My takeaway is that I need another clean boost to put after my overdrive for the purpose of making it louder for leads. I have a Klon clone and I spent a few minutes messing with that but did not like it as well after the overdrive as much as I like the Benson. I hope I'm not confusing you, sorry. I do love the Benson, I'm just not sure where I want to end up putting it. I do love what it does to my clean tone as well. I use the Benson on about 6 or just under, and it's usually always on (for both clean and overdrive scenarios, I only turn it off when I want a cleanish milder overdrive sound, which is rare in my current project.)
