1. Water lost momentum when they hit the waterwheel so you need to put them side by side unless you make the river into 1 channel wide or they will keep getting weaker and weaker. 2. Make spare hauling post put them in lowest priority so you need less micro manage when there is spare beaver. 3. Bigger is better in this game, so always try to upgrade stuff to next tier as they're way more efficient than previous level. 4. Put farmhouse in pair (one to harvest, one to plant) in close proximity to maximize yield and planting time.

Hello Biffa. Good to be watching you again!! For the bad water tides, there's a way to deal with them that won't pollute your reservoir: I've played the map you're on, and all you need is 2-high floodgates. Up by the spring, the stone blocks that serve as water sources, put a row of 2-high floodgates along the front of the spring, literally right in front of it, with 1-high wings extending out a couple of extra blocks. Then close the gap from the extended floodgate row to the map edge with levees. During Wet Season, lower the gate and watch the water flow. During a Bad Tide, raise the gates, and all the badwater will flush directly off the edge of the map, and your reservoir is clean. Also, i don't think beavers drink 30 water /day, I'm pretty sure it's 3. Also also, you have a badwater spring behind your colony. Free waterwheel power, you just have to build platforms to stand on so that your beavers don't swim in the badwater. Remember the can build down beside them (not corners) infinitely, and up 1 (but not from stairs, they can't build anything from stairs).
@BrokenCurtain9 ай бұрын
The main advantage of the big pumps is that they're more efficient - they pump water faster and need fewer workers. They also have more reach, which means you can build a deep reservoir full of water and use all of it. So once you have a couple of large pumps, you can demolish the smaller ones. I'd also make use of the windmills and gravity batteries to power the industry. If you build the gravity batteries on platforms, then they can store more energy because the weights can go further down.

Great save on the drought, that's so easy to get wrong. Also, Renji died of old age rather than thirst or hunger, which surprised me a bit, guess he knew his time was near... I like the "power over the path" strategy, as that's an efficient use of space. I do like putting windmills along the power lines for extra power (and they serve as a 4 way junction as well) the little ones are fine to start with, and you can always upgrade to the big ones that need paper later. Rather than pumping the water out at the top, it may be better to dynamite a bit out to create a channel. Also putting a floodgate with an outlet off to the "badwater side" would help, and mean you can use your top dam for water storage through badtides. It's worth adding floodgates at the bottom of your new channel, as the big dam at the end of the map is your main water pumping area, it means you can block your channel off in a drought, otherwise it'll drain into the main area as that gets pumped out. Once you ditch your pumps by your food, might be worth checking out underwater farming, as it lets you make more use of the river tiles that aren't doing anything for you otherwise, and it's more food types for the wellbeing bonuses. Finally, dandelions can be planted by the forester, so they're easy enough to get, you don't need many though as medicine is only for contaminated beavers, rather than injured ones.

@ReshiramUndRayquaza9 ай бұрын
Yes Biffa, in a row ;) like all the outputs connect directly. A row across the stream, not with the stream. The water wheels slow down the flow, since they are taking energy from it. Therefore they don't influence each other across the stream (the row), but they do slow down subsequent wheels downstream (the column) Edit: That's why the first wheel produces 102 hp, the second 87 hp, the thrid 27 hp, and the fourth ~0 hp. Why the fifth one spins again, I'm not sure. Probably something to do with terrain and game engine.

Great series Biffa!! I found out yesterday that when you are constructing a dam the builders will only build up 1 level above their heads, that's why you had to build up the scafolding, but beavers can apparently build infinatly down so you can put a path along the top of the dam and the beavers will build it up from the top. The only down side is they have to build each vertical row before moving on to the next row. Beavers will only move about 7 to 10 squares from the end of a path so you can also build from the bottom up by adding stairs to each level and the builders will walk along the previously bult level to build the new one but you can get beavers trapped doing it this way as happened to you last episode. Also use the terrain next to the dam as much as possible instead of having to build platforms to hold up stairs. I've just built a 5 high dam next to where the water comes in so I can divert the badtide away at the sauce and I'm now building it all the way along that edge so it gets taken all the way out of the map so I can use that area eith the pool of water where you diver your badtidw to now. Another neet trick is getting more power out of the water wheel by building a row of levee's acceross the wide river to narrow the flow where the water wheel is which increases it's output. I've been getting a constant 270hp out of 1 water wheel with a high of 298hp and low of 250hp when the water is flowing normally. I then built a row if levee's along the side adding a second water wheel with all of the water just going through the 2 square wide oppening left for the water to flow but then each water wheel seemed to not gain as much power as just one. Good luck with this series, I LOVE IT 😍❤❤

Heya Biffa! Love the new Timberborn series! My tipps: 1. To make efficient use of water wheels, you need to funnel a large stream into a tight canal (e.g. 5 wide into 2 wide). This will increase the flow speed and thus the wheel tremendously. The small river you opened up this episode is _perfekt_ for this. You just need to open to top section to let the water run down stream (use flood gates to close during bad tides) 2. The wind wheels are a great source of power too. You should use them as much as possible 3. IMO, the herbalist is not worth the hassle. You would be better of banishing your sick beavers to another isolated district and let them... you know. (I'm terrible. I know). 4. If you build a bunch of large flood gates directly in front of the water source and build some levees around it, you can use them to block bad tides completely of and let the bad water run off the map right where it came out (though I think the blocks directly above the water source blocks don't allow water to flow of the map - not sure on this one)

If you want to make the water flow on the right of the water source, there is no need to lift anything, you need dynamite to blow the raised ground instead. It would be easier.

If you build dams forcing the water through a narrow channel it flows way faster where the water wheels are. That way a single small water wheel can generate 300 power instead of the 50.
@AoiKaze20009 ай бұрын
And for the pumps, like 1-2 large pumps is fine for a district of like 100, as long as you are filling like 1-2 of the large liquid storage containers. The small storage containers generally aren't worth using unless you're enabling storage for transfer of items between districts.

The Haulers may not haul directly to job sites though if you have a massive damn project underway it can be beneficial to place a large log storage near your job site. The log cutters will just haul to their nearest storage location with adequate space. So if you check the prioritize by haulers checkbox on the log storage and switch it to 'acquire' the haulers will bring it to the site for you. Haulers can carry more than builders so they will get the materials there in half the time. Of course these logistical benefits compound according to the scale of the construction project.

looking goood, though you need to get paper production going so you can bulid some windmills which generate power depending on the hight they are at. 10 blocks up gives almost constant power. you could put them along your main water dam. Also in relation to your power wheel question... Large power wheel sreduce the water speed directly Downstreem by 10% but increase it downstreem to the sides by 10%. so the most efishant way to build large power wheels is as a 2 deep block all the way across the water. making shure theres no open water on eather side of the block for water to escape and thus reduce power generation. between pugging the gap's in the river's water wheels and adding some windmills you should then get constant power.

@ragerancher9 ай бұрын
Energy tips: 1. They generate more power for a faster flow 2. The narrower a river, the faster the flow must be (if the same amount of water is being fed into it) 3. Using levees to narrow the width of the river at the centre of the waterwheel ensures all the water in the river must flow through the wheel, generating maximum power. If it starts flooding, you might need 2 side by side. 4. On a wide river like that, you can have a levee channel running along the outside of the wheels and then isolate the rest of the river in that section. Put a dam at the upstream end if you want it to refill but don't put one on the downstream end. 5. If you use windmills, they are best paired with batteries as they are not consistent. 6. Batteries store energy based on the height the batter has to fall. Putting them at the top of a mountain with the battery overhanging a sheer drop will get you the most storage for your resources. Also by default the beavers will build things in the order you plopped them down. You only need to increase or decrease priority if you want something to be built outside the order you place them. They will obviously move on to construction sites they do have materials for if one that was placed earlier / is higher priority they don't have the materials for.

- small pump produces 1 water with 1 beaver while big one produces 5 water with 3 beavers so you can replace 5 small pumps with 1 big one while getting 2 extra worker, also big pumps reach further down - this game has water physics so it will slow down if you put and obstacle in it and that includes water wheels and in some case the water will flow around the wheels rather than through them, that's why you want to build them across the rivers so that no matter where the water flows through it will produce power - you should be building small windmills since they are relatively cheap (at this point in game), produce as much power as water wheels and work during bad tide as well, you also want some batteries since the energy production isn't continuous but batteries are for later game since they require processed metal - for perfect efficiency you want one farmhouse for planting and one for harvesting next to each other, if you can't afford that then having the farmhouse set to planting is more effective than having it set to harvesting (new plants will start growing while you harvest the rest), also if there are some plants that are not getting harvested then you need another farmhouse covering the area

1. You have way too much pumping capacity, the limitation is the water amount, not pumping. just get big storage. One big pump is often enough for the entire colony, you can usually get rid of the small ones then. 2. Level up your beavers, everything is done much more quickly if you do (faster farming, faster pumping, faster building). Investing in decoration and statues and new food sources is very cheap, and then they will farm faster and you'll have more beavers free for other things.

I'm keeping my 120 beavers strong colony hydrated with just 2 of these big pumps, but I think I have like 3k storage (not counting the land reservoir)

hey Biffa, watching RCE, it looks like you can put the waterwheels even in bad water. that way, you can get power even during the bad water tides.

RCE got you talking about “log pumps” which is a bit more blue than we normally expect on this channel. ;)

Went from 170 to 2 beavers because wasn't paying attention to bad water flooding enough. Back up to 54 now. Phew.

Sir, you infected me with the beaver fever... well done. I played 16 hours in the last three days... 😂😂 I once killed my colony of 60+ beavers with a accidental bad water flood of the whole town. 4 beavers survived and they were able to rebuild the colony. Now my beaver colony has 140+ beavers.... I love this game.

How long until you realise you put the water wheels in a column instead of a row?
@Thaytor9 ай бұрын
I had same thought

Though the same then I realized that it depends on your camera angle so now I claim that the water wheels were put in diagonally rather than in a column or row.

You're kind of wasting space and materials by running such a large chain for power. Just put some power-needing buildings along the water or move the ones that you had. Also, don't put the wheels in a line, put them next to each other for better efficiency. You could also technically put the wheels on the "bad" side or source side of the redirection dam so that you can still use it with badtide
@Ralthen9 ай бұрын
put 2-4 waterwheel right in front of the dam for maximum power

You should put levees on either side of your water wheels so that they spin faster.
