Just found your page and I LOVE IT! Have a 2015 SR5 4X4 and just purchased a 24 LC250. Have always wanted to off-road but never did, but both vehicles deserve to live off-road a little. It's also great seeing a mainly Toyota channel, our vehicles are very specific. Thanks for the channel and knowledge.

nice vehicle choice and congrats on the new lc250! I am glad you enjoyed my channel and thanks for the support!

I like your off road style too. Slow and steady with my Tacoma. Don't want unnecessary wear or damage. I'm there for the exploration, sites and adventure.

I’m glad I found your channel. I have a 2018 Tundra and I’m mainly interested in the lights, which is why I love your videos so much, but I found this one really interesting too. Keep up the great work, you put a lot of effort into them.

I had a 17 and 23 Tacoma. My 23 drove me nuts with the highway manners and getting about 17-18mpg. I live in the midwest so it was normally flat. Great video and fun to watch.

How did it only get 17-18mpg? all stock?

From this video, I find the LC250 to be an underperformer. As for drivability of the BFG, my MT-G003 mud tires gave me far better performance on or off-road than the previous KO2 I had. Nice tip on the sliders btw.
@4WDisLife2 ай бұрын
Interesting point because I also had ko2 and geolandars g003 Mt, g003 mt can’t match the ko2 at least for the onroad section, off the road g003 is a beast
@RoyFJ652 ай бұрын
@@4WDisLife the issue with KO2s here was unpredictability in rain compared to the predictability with the MT G003s. Also, I could never ever tackle the balance issue and vibration with my FJ Cruiser whereas I face none of those either with the X-AT or the MT G003 I use currently.
@4WDisLife2 ай бұрын
@@RoyFJ65what is the tire size you have with the ko2? I find the smaller ones tend to balance well, but I do agree that ko2 didn’t balance well. As for wet performance I find it in par with stock tires that came with my rigs (mostly street ht tires) so my expectation was not high to begin with 😂 after a year of using the g003 I had to switch back because the Mud terrains are just too loud for me.

@@4WDisLifeis the Tacoma smoother then the tundra offroad ?
@4WDisLife2 ай бұрын
@@robertespinoza2740 I find Tacoma to be more nimble off road, the downside of the Tacoma vs tundra is it’s carrying capability and it’s got less room. But I am okay with that.

that is a timeless blue FJ, it's actually a perfect compliment to the tan of the LC250 - A designer

yea, these two colors compliment well to each other.

I plan on buying a cheap FJ Cruiser soon. I love the New Land Cruisers too. Still great to see how the Tacoma stacks up.

Both three are solid choices imo, just depending on the style and bank account of individuals 😀

Great video! Curious what 17" wheels you went with and the offset.
@3GFinn2 ай бұрын
Many times the Tacomas long wheel base has advantages over shorter, such as doing long steep rock climbs.
@4WDisLife2 ай бұрын
That is true, while it may hurt the clearance and breakover angles due to the longer wheelbase, the climbing stability is surely one of the advantages.

At 13:30 when you did the MPG test, what octane was in each vehicle? I put regular in my 2014 FJ. I think the new LC250 uses Premium. I drive slow offroad too. Parts are expensive! Any who criticizes you for going slow offroad needs to pay for your broken parts or shut their mouth.
@4WDisLife2 ай бұрын
Haha. Thanks for the support. The fj and lc250 both fueled up with premium fuel and my taco used regular. Fj should be good with regular but the owner wants to give it the best fuel.

does the extra inch in rim size affect the speedometer's accuracy aswell as the car's acceleration and speed
@4WDisLifeАй бұрын
It does, but since I only upsized one size it is around 3.2% off in terms of odometer/speedo. The effect on acceleration is not too bad.

LC cost 70K and got 23mpg Taco cost 40K and got 21mpg with bigger heavier tires Yeah no thanks on these new Toyotas. Overpriced and less reliable now. Also crawl control is what it means. Controls your speed. It doesn’t know you’re going over a mogul section. All it’s doing is trying to stay at 1-4mph. You shouldn’t even be using crawl control in that moment. It’s not called “smooth control” Crawl control is best when you’re stuck in sand or going down a steep slippery hill where you can’t control the brake pedal as well
@4WDisLife2 ай бұрын
I agree with the ridiculous pricing part. However, the fj and lc25@ both used crawl control and made much less of a fuss (lot more smooth) compared to my Tacoma, that alone shows how the tacomas system is not on par with those two at least.
@chivas_gets_lost2 ай бұрын
@@4WDisLife now that you mentioned that. You care correct. It’s due to 3rd gen tacomas with drum brakes. They should’ve never designed it like that. You should try and find a 4th gen and do a comparison. It might just be the same dynamics as the LC electronics
