I installed a Frankenturbo kit to replace my blown mk4 GLI stock turbo. It's spools slow, the compressor wheel looks much stronger but that fatty needs a turbo for its turbo. If my turbo wasn't cracked and I was turning the car into a drag racer, I'd upgrade the watergate and DV on the stock turbo. Put the saved money into stiffening the suspension and sways up. Doesn't matter how much hp and torque you have if the tires are spinning and hopping.

BPU (pulley, tune, heat exchanger upgrade) makes them solid high-12s cars. And the engine and trans in them are bulletproof. No air/hydro suspension, either. Like every other car though, prices have ballooned on them now, assuming you can even find one for sale.

@zackthacker3343 жыл бұрын
Not sure if anyone suggested this yet or not and I know you only need the car to last for one pass but what are your plans for the PCV system? PCV block off plate so you don’t lose boost on that pass. Also while I’m thinking about it an Rs4 fuel pressure regulator valve. Cheap upgrade for more fuel if you need it. Torque arm insert (aggressive) to help put the power down and prevent wheel hop. Throttle pipe and water meth injection is relatively cheap or tap stock pipe. Hopefully you have a revision d (I think) diverter valve if not you won’t get through a test pass.
@zackthacker3343 жыл бұрын
Just rewatched your video and realized you mentioned the diverter valve. Seems the budget is tight to upgrade to a Ko4, frankenturbo, or TTE. If you really want to save money and your turbo is good and injectors are good, a cheap option could be upgrading to a forge waste gate and get the right tune. Pair with water meth. Then do a separate video later with a K04 and see the difference. (FSI guy since 07 mk5 and mk6) also I want you guys to win.

I use a cheap sieve from the dollar store to check for particles in the oil. They had some with a very fine mesh. You can re-use them after cleaning with some petrol.

Oh dear lord even before I watch the this, I know it's going to be and awesome vid. The guys at Gears and Gasoline are fun, know their stuff, and have some awesome builds. I think us followers of these car channels like to see collaborations like this. The best to both of you and everyone in the KZbin car community who have channels.

Consider going some sort of port injection (methanol), especially when you place it further up the inlet manifold you'll get the added effect of evaporative cooling
