For the gold box, I would recommend adding about an inch extra on the top that you can fold over so that the edges won't be so sharp :D

Yaas I’ve used this method before and it totally worked. The end result is like plaster but a lot sturdier. Just keep in mind by adding white sand (which is essentially white marble powder if I remembered correctly) the setting time will increase. In my experience you’ll also have to add a bit more water.

I actually DIY’ed the marble pot a few months ago! I sprayed a big pot from TJMaxx with high gloss white paint, and used a crumbled newspaper with gold leaf paint to get the marble effect. I love it! Hated the CB2 price and loved having a project.

white colors take A LOT more than dark colors to mix though. think about brown paint and adding white to it, you need like a whole bottle vs white paint and adding brown- you only need a little. worth a try though! i need to get into these concrete DIYs, i just dont want concrete all over my apartment!

The way I'm suggesting they do the gold boxes would increase the cost by the cost of a few sheets of paper.

I think the sheeting they got at their home depot wasn't large enough to match a cube sheet the size that would match the original cb2 box. You can see in the video they can't put two squares next to each other on the short side of the sheeting otherwise they would have done so

You need "white portland cement" for decorative pieces and regular cement for construction. Also two cement tips... 1) wear gloves when dealing with cement or the next twenty videos will be about finding the ultimate hand moisturizer; 2) use a sander without any sandpaper to vibrate out any air bubbles

Dylan Brocato yeah I thought of that too. However, the box they were trying to recreate was made out of metal so to make it more like the original they chose that. For the concrete, Sakrete (and probably Quikrete) makes a concrete dye in a few colors. There's a color called Buff, which is more of a beige color, but it'll get you close to the white you want. There's also a terra cotta color which will make the red stand out a little bit more than the paint.

Someone mentioned adding white paint to the concrete, which I think could work. You could also try mixing some white grout/mortar mix with the concrete to see if that would make it brighter. The mortar on its own is too soft and brittle to be a concrete substitute, but it may mix well with the dry concrete and still deliver the brightness you want.

For the doorstop: you can use dental cement and mix it with the normal cement. The mixture will dry more quickly and it will be paler depending of your liking and ratio you use of the dental cement ! or a more affordable way is to mix it with foot powder I tried both and it worked! Also if you want that creamy color add some pigments in your mixture (example: eyeshadow)

I really love the doorstop! To get a very smooth white concrete, use unsanded grout mix. It is also easily colored. I frankly liked the more rough-&-rustic look of the concrete you used, it had a look of stone that I thought was cool. I'd want the strap to be the same color on both sides, I think, but if not possible, no big deal, it is still an awesome door stop & possibly an excellent weapon in case of a home invasion/burglar! ALso perhaps for shot put practice?
