with added Hobbytown "multidrive" kits you can power more than one unit with a single motor vastly increasing the pulling power. The multidrive is simply a system that powers trucks in a second (and even a third) body via additional trucks and universals (similar to yours) but not a second motor. All underneath leaving the second (empty) body to hold electronics or sound systems.

The wire on screw i would think a loop terminal connector would help so the screw is attached to loop not the wire creating fatigue maybe would help keep wire good. The limited stretch and eventual deterioration of that rubber tubing will put a bind on the trucks on the curves and more strain on the motor. Those drive trains are mechanically the best around IMO and will probably last forever with a bit of care. Your unit has the Pittman DC70 motor. A good unit. A more powerful motor, the Pittman DC90 can be found for that unit and will double the power, if not more.

Great video. Just to confirm a few things, YES hobbytown of Boston is still alive and No they're not sold in any stores, only online or at those now defunct things called train shows.! For those who never hear of them, they're the last of the original die cast locomotive kit manufacturers in the USA. They have been in business since 1946. They're now located in New Jersey. The shell is probably an old Athearn, hobbytown never made an F unit shell, and never made a plastic one either except for a few promotional and limited pieces.

Curious: where did you get the carbon fiber pencil from? It looks like a really good piece of kit for locomotive servicing. Oh, and if nobody mentioned it, I'm going to shamelessly shill for Micro-Mark. All the proper miniature tools you could ever want for maintaining your locomotives and rolling stock collection. But seriously, I bought several items like the "Truck Tuner", an NMRA track/wheel gauge, and a coupler height gauge. They've proved invaluable for keeping my equipment rolling and on track. I wouldn't recommend a tool site if I didn't actually use/approve of what they're offering. I guess that's enough word salad. Cheers! P.S. BTW, are you doing a Christmas Train challenge this year?
