I think Lady & the Tramp 2 perfectly captures the mentality of being a child, especially a child with strict parents. Scamp does try to fit in & do what he's told but at some points you just crack & need to do your own thing. He wants to smell the flowers, play with children, do dog stuff, & he doesn't like cats (& to be fair I think we all hate those 2 Siamese cats). Lady & Tramp are dismissive of his problems & struggles. Everyone (both humans & dogs) gets mad when he acts like himself or just different from the rest. Also most of his "bad behavior" is actually caused by Jim Dear & Darling being poor dog owners. Scamp NEEDS more exercise/play time but the daily walk is all they seem to do. He gets forced to stay inside (not even a cracked window) where he is expected to act like a "good" dog by sitting &/or laying down most of the day. He is punished & yelled at for getting dirty even though he is a puppy & clearly hasn't been trained yet.

I love Scamps Adventure, and while I mostly agree Buster and Tramp are the highlight, I am a bit disappointed you never touched on Scamps little love Interest who does contest the life of being a stray. Her character isn't much deeper than 'the streets suck and I want a home' but I think she is a good foil for Scamp. It could just be my personal experiences but I believe her character helped flesh the story out a bit better.

I think Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas would've worked if the Beast wanted to give Belle a happy Christmas, and Belle just sad that she couldn't see her father on the holiday they always shared, giving her a Lizzie Bennet style sense of prejudice against the Beast. But Belle soon learns to start seeing the good in the beast. Angelique could also be fearful of the Beast forgetting her, and angry that the Beast needs her again after all this time. That would've been a much more organic movie.
@kristinahuchison251111 ай бұрын
I’m gonna argue the Enchanted Christmas was one of the best ones imo. Yeah it definitely wasn’t perfect, but it had Forte, one of if not the most terrifying sequel villain. Plus I actually liked it showing more about how/when the Beast was cursed and how his temper doesn’t just disappear overnight (like it does in the original movie imo) but shows how he’s trying to do better to make Belle happy and find his humanity. Plus he does learn the error of his ways and gifts Belle a big Christmas party at the end of the movie too

It'd be neat to watch a vid on a "rewritten" version of Mulan 2, starting with a plot based more on the deleted battle scene, or with a more natural flow of Mulan and Shang having a conflict with how to complete a mission (Mulan with her out-of-the-box thinking and Shang with his by-the-book thinking).

I can't lie, Scamp's Adventure was a constant rewatch for me growing up. I loved the songs so much -Always There makes me, age 21, cry -Scamps regret, Angel's grief for having never had that happiness, Lady and Tramps sad acceptance that Scamp has left them despite their offers of support (Tramp was supportive, until Buster showed up). I Didn't Know That I Could Feel This Way might have the longest title of a Disney song, but I always found something about it extremely beautiful, their goofiness and developing bonds. Whilst plot wise, its that typical 'I'm going to recreate past events because my overbearing parent won't communicate!' I actually think it has a lot of heart at its core, and the family element of it has always struck so close to home for me. Call it nostalgia, but I revisit it everytime I rewatch the original (often!) and really hope Disney will remake Scamp and Angel plushies!

An Extremely Goofy movie isn't as good as the first but as products of their time go it holds up and is enjoyable. It was probably just an oversight done out of laziness but I also like that Roxanne wasn't in it because addressing that most people don't have long term relationships with their first crush is a refreshing and helpful moral for kids media to have.
@Videomaster21XX2 жыл бұрын
I disagree. If they had made mention of Max and Roxanne splitting up or going their own ways, or even him with a new love, that'd be fine. It addresses that no you don't always stay with your high school crush, but she's simply not mentioned at all. From a story standpoint, this is just frustrating to most viewers like myself. If you want to make the point that people don't stay together like that, then fine. SAY THAT. Otherwise, just let us have our fun and see them still together. Let me see how they've grown as a couple and as characters. Like it or not a LARGE part of the first movie was Max trying to win her over. I find it very unsatisfying that we are shown them actually become a couple, only to pretend that part of the story doesn't exist in the sequel. It'd be like if there was a Hercules 2, and in it Meg is never shown or mentioned at all. It's just a weird and baffling choice to make.

The only redemption for Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas is if: During the scene where Beast is contemplating his feelings about Belle and touching his wound... The enchantress's spell creates a parallel universe where everyone except the Beast is changed. Belle now has a personality where she'll accept him no matter what. She'll even take his abuse. This alternate universe challenges the Beast to see whether he has the strength to change and be the man the real Belle deserves. After defeating the organ (Beast's inner self) and passed the enchantress tests, Beast is returned to his reality to become a better man. It gives this weird midquil a purpose as the first test of the Beast and Belle's relationship. It also explains why plummet is MIA.

Forte feels bizarre, he on some level must know that if the spell isn't broken then he becomes a regular organ, that will probably be torn apart by the Beast, but at the same time he's dependent on the Beast's attention and admiration. Some of this could be the madness of being trapped in the basement for years, isolated from most of the other objects, but at the same time it feels like a type of self-destructiveness that makes no sense. As much as I don't like Catra from She-Ra 2018 at least her self-destructiveness made sense, a lot of it was her being jealous of Adora and desperately wanting to outdo her, while also wanting to feel loved and wanting to lash out at Adora for all the abuse that Shadow-Weaver put her through, but Forte just wants attention, maybe it's because the plot and story were rushed but I couldn't see as much of a reason why he wants to control Beast.

Actually I don't think it was mentioned in the original movie that the household turns into inanimate objects upon the last petal falling. That was added in the musical adaptation, and later the live action remake, but I don't think it was in the original animated movie. Adding it raised the stakes behind breaking the spell, but it also kind of made the beast letting belle go to be with Maurice kind of suckish because the scene stops being about the beast putting belle before himself, and more about the beast dooming his servants to die.

I'll be honest, I grew up on Scamp's adventure and related to him as a kid, so I always saw him and Angel's journey to be the highlight and focal point. I saw it as a movie mainly about Scamp learning to appreciate what he has from her putting into perspective that it isn't all it's cracked up to be not to have loved ones who truthfully care about you. Buster was more a force to drive that point home than a full blown antagonist. He was just a happy go-lucky street dog until he decided to get revenge on Tramp's son, but it was shown even from the beginning they thought of Scamp as nothing and he even saw his "Junkyard Family" as disposable and vice versa in the long run. Scamp longed for the freedom his father once had, and Angel longed for structure safety and genuine connection. It was something both of them didn't have Angel got her wish to have loved ones who care and Scamp learned what he yearned for may not have been "being wild and free" with no one to care for him and roughing it on his own, but for respect and independence within the system he already had. Which Tramp finally granted him in the end. It was actually one of my FAVORITE Disney movies as a kid along with Aristocats and Alice in Wonderland and I didn't even see the original till much after the second which admittedly made the less relatable mushy love story of Lady and Tramp feel like the sequel.

I've been thinking about The Enchanted Christmas for a while, and I think it would have been better if it was a slice of life epilogue to the OG movie. Like, it's their first Christmas post curse, and Belle's trying to make it a good one for 'Beast'. You could still keep Angelique, the tree climax but you can add scenes like Belle and 'Beast' finally talking about motivations and fears, a return to the village with the Movie still ending with the party at the castle. We would have to lose Fife and Forte as our villians, but It could be an enjoyable time.

Not only does he not seem to have grown at all since the last film, he's regressed. He seemed to at least tolerate the nature of his dad before, if not learn to appreciate it. From the word go in the sequel though, he does everything to keep Goofy out of his life. His manipulative plans are arguably even worse this time than in the original. I also watched The Little Mermaid 2 much more often than the first one! Same with The Lion King 2. Honestly, the only Disney sequel I can't forgive is the Hunchback of Notre Dame sequel, it threw away so many good aspects of the first one and never properly explained how the villain stole that bell.

I’d add Pocahontas 2. It was just as awful. Aside her ending up with Rolfe, I just found it so boring and the characters (especially Poca and Smith) were completely different characters and were total jerks towards each other to try to explain why she ended up with Rolfe instead

The only problem I have with Scamps Adventure is that Buster is as old as Tramp but are also making claims at Angel, calling her 'his' girl. I know they are dogs but still, this is a kids movie and that is an adult dog making moves on a puppy/much younger dog. Other than that, I always loved the movie.
@stirlingno.12962 жыл бұрын
Except, here's the thing; Angel is not a puppy, she's closer to Buster's age than Scamp's given her background and the fact that she's small on account of her breed. If anything the "adult dog making moves on a puppy/much younger dog" is actually Angel on Scamp...and Ruby on Scamp at one point.
@DrawpinionDump2 жыл бұрын
Scamp's adventure gets *really weird* with the age thing. I think the writers were slightly aware of this, because they gave Scamp a voice that reads ambiguously young/old, but it doesn't help much. There's a plot point in the original Lady and the Tramp where Lady is basically considered an "adult" once she reaches 6 months of age, so maybe Scamp's Adventure was leaning somewhat on the in-movie notion that once a dog is "grown" it's like one universal "adult" age - but it's still really weird!!

@@DrawpinionDump Or they just didn't think things through and let some lowkey soft underage content slip through the gaps.

The Lady and The Tramp II is a movie I have a lot of nostalgia for. I remember having it on VCR and watching time and time again. From today's perspective: yes, it certainly lacks the specific charm of first Lady and The Tramp. It's a bit generic story of "be careful of what you wish for" and "family is most important". But it still was enough to entertain me as a kid. And I have some really good memories related to it.

Now i WANT a second part, i loved this video as much as i loved the movies you talked about when i was little and had nothing to do in the afternoon rather than watching them on tv(bc my neighbourhood was really hostile and i'm sorta the "calm" type, so i had no real friends irl until i was a teen), so yeah, i wanna see you talk about them more.

Well I’ve seen all of these sequels especially Lady and Tramp II which I watched more times than original (and it was my first introduction to Fourth July since I am not American and as a kid I did not know about that holiday). Also loolimg back Scramp was probably very relatable to me cos in my mind I oomd of wanted to play and be free from resposibilities of school etc so that was a bonus - along with very good musical number of catchy songs

Angel, Scamp's love interrest is a really likable character. She is cute, brave, honest and doesn't let Buster annoy her. Also, the puppy have a sad past. Each time she found a family, the humans became allergic or have a baby or move out. She got abandon because of thoses reasons and couldn't found a new home. That's so tragic ;( I felt bad for her and was happy she got adopted by Jim and Darling. Scamp was cruel with Angel. When she asked him to run away with her, he refuses. The kid constantly is telling her that she never understood how living with a family works, complains a lot. It was annoying Xs Scamp was lucky that she warned her father or else he would be killed by the giant dog. Angel deserves better than him!
