The issue with most of the CB 750’s now is the price is shooting up everywhere. You gotta be pretty super fast to get one at a reasonable price before the seller starts a bidding war.

AS a guy who restores old 4 cylinder hondas the plugs are a common problem i have encountered numerous times tried everything including breaking easy outs only way i ever fixed them was to set the head up in a bridgeport drill them to tap size and retap learned that never seize on all the plugs is your best friend good luck really enjoy your videos also they make a cam chain with a master link so you can cut old one to get cam out

It's such an ambitious thing to attempt, so the odds are always against you despite the good preparation. Especially with a bad back because I know how debilitating that can be. Ive broken several plugs and spiral extractors have never worked. The Square tapered extractors with the 4 flutes is the kind you want for that situation. I know you were working with what ya got, but just for future reference. With what you guys were trying to do I give you all the props AND with a hurt back...man definitely a battle. No need to apologize, was still a great video. It looks like a sweet bike to save and hope to see it again. Take care and hope your back gets better.

The previous owner spent 42 years ruining the bike by neglect but you only had 12 hours to revive her so not a fair contest. I love videos like this because it shows the real world challenges we’re up against to bring bikes back to life. Freeing up seized parts is always the most time consuming and risky part of the process. It’s really valuable for me to see the innovative ways you both tackle the problem. Kudos to you both for the determination to get as far as you did. I don’t think anyone else would have done better

Retreat and live to fight another day. Back injury is something only those who have dealt with understand. It's a part of the biker experience and though it would be nice if it went to plan as we wished, the reality all too often is that things do go wrong. It's only a failure if you bring it back to the shop and you don't do your best to revive that engine, which with your tools and knowledge you will be able to do! I feel your pain man. No worries I love watching your videos. Always super informative and very interesting. I recently had a similar situation on a xs650. The engine was seized and broke one of the plugs off, trying to get it out. I tried everything to get the broken stud part out and couldn't do it. I think you made the right decision to call it quits and live to fight another day. No shame in that quite the contrary, actually very wise. I'm my situation. I ruined the head drilling out the broken spark plug and had to smash the piston out to finally get the crank free. Loved every minute of it ! Cheers!!

There are many videos of motorcycle restorations on KZbin, but there are few people like you who can realistically show us the whole process from start to finish of restoring a motorcycle pulled out of a barn in bad condition to public roads. I believe that the purchase price of former greats such as CB750, CBX, and Benelli is going up even if the bikes are in poor condition, so I think it is a matter of life and death for you if the restoration does not go well. However, I and other viewers will watch your videos and support you in the hope that you can recoup some of your costs and continue with your next challenge, so please keep providing us your real struggles and challenges in your videos.I really support you guys!

I too suffer from life long back problems, I've found that once a good chiropractor got everything aligned right, I got in the gym and strengthened my core, my back does so much better! Just FYI. don't feel bad ...be proud that you showed the real deal. That's how it goes sometimes. I have revived dozens of cb750's and generally they roar back to life and can become real everyday riders with surprisingly little work. They usually just want to live, more than any other bikes I have worked on....even the stuck ones. But yeah, you break a plug, it's gonna get ugly and probably very expensive. Ironically enough, I got a candy gold K2 with a stuck motor soaking in atf/acetone in my shop as we speak.

Been watching you two for a while, finally subscribed tonight. I have a couple of lower back issues too, and some days that's the show stopper for me, not the broken plugs or snapped studs. I have dealt with my fair share of seized up parts, it's never fun, but so rewarding when you finally free them off. Never beat yourself up about taking a step back, it gives you time to come up with ideas and plan your next assault, it also usually saves you from further man-made damage. You'll get there and I'm looking forward to watching the journey 👍

I feel yout pain, my 2nd bike was a cb 750 4 k2 when I was 17, fast forward 40 yrs later I bought a supposedly top to bottom rebuilt one but it had some issues, I put it into the main honda dealer who tried for the best part of 2 years to get it perfect, they failed, so if they can't do it with all they're advantages in that time frame maybe it was a little bit optimistic to take a basket case one and turn it round in a day😅, as for the bad back best advice I ever got was 2 use the upside down chair thing. Keep it going

I'd load that thing up and take it home and fix it in your comfy shop. I enjoy watching you guys work at home in the shop more than out in the "field". Then you're near home and can relax there when your back gives out. There's a plug extraction tool that is made to remove those broken plugs. I just watched a video on South Main Auto of him doing that plug extraction. Although you may already have that tool set.

Good call with Seth. I lifted a 1979 CB750 engine on my own, ruptured a tendon in my arm, had an operation to repair it and 2 years on I live in pain. Definitely a good call to look after Seth….even a 72 CB 750 isn’t worth his health.

If a Honda ever doesn’t run it’s serious. I had a Honda moped lose it’s wrist pin and chewed up the jug (I know it’s a broken Honda). Me and my step dad dug another one out from behind barn that was locked up tight. We stole the jug and piston, rings seized. But she ran for many many miles after that. It was my only transportation when I was in high school. Still love mopeds

I soaked mine for 4 months. It sat for 35 years. Disappointment is a part of life and it will make a better video down the line. Meanwhile we have people that lost everything in the south.
