Put a set of bearings in that thing and roll on brother. I’ve had these Jeeps for 20 years now and have a 91 now and the old engine I had in it I put a set of bearings in it with just dropping the pan and doing it in the truck. I polished the crank with Emory cloth and it had some pretty nasty marks in it but this was over Christmas 2008 and parts stores were shut down and I needed the truck running so I went for it. My wife drove the truck to work 45 miles each way for the next 8 years and I just put a new engine in it this year. Those 360s are damn near bulletproof!!

Back in the mid 80s, I did my Eagle Scout community service project doing repairs to the pews in my church. The parish warden (in charge of repairs and maintenance in the church building) was a very sweet older gentleman who had a Jeep Wagoneer. It was older, but IMMACULATE! I have loved the Wagoneer ever since, and have always seen the Grand Cherokee as a sad replacement. I'd love to find a Wagoner, or even an old Cherokee, that hasn't been beat to death and super rusty. I'd much rather have one of these that a modern car filled with electronics. My daily commute is only 2 minutes, but I could pack it up to go camping, fishing, pull a small boat, etc. It also helps that I work in a NAPA Auto Parts store, and I've been working on cars for YEARS! We have lots of guys looking for parts for CJs, Wranglers, and Cherokees, but but not Wagoneers.

Dope video man. I’ve been watching you for a while and I appreciate that you spit knowledge on the parts instead of just joking around and showing us clips. I’ve always wanted to do a restomod for a 240z and ya make it seem possible lesson by lesson. Mad respect for essentially teaching us all us viewers something.

Hey Kevin, I spoke with Dalton a few days ago on a comment. I told him about an event in Southern Missouri called the hundred acre wood. It's a rally race and a really good time. If you can swing it, you guys should come down to Dalton's to replace the motor in the impala, and then come to the race near by. It would be great to meet everyone, the races are March 15-16. Look up the Hundred Acre wood Rally if you want to know more. Love the show guys, keep up the good work.

Love your videos! But can you maybe put a compressor on your audio? I enjoy watching in the background but if I put it loud enough to hear you guys talking, whenever you turn over an engine it's LOUD AS HECK! A compressor will bring those spikes in volume back down to a reasonable level. Just a request. :) Keep up the good work!

I had one of those, dark blue with factory orange shag carpet. With brown leather and cloth seats. The engine started to sound just like yours when I traded it in, along with $2,000 for a 1991 Rally Vandura 2500 GMC conversion van. Very nice van too. 350cid w/400 trans. Posi rear axle Had 62,000 original miles, and I put 75,000 more on it before giving it to a friend before I moved to North Pole, Alaska.

A buddy of mine had one of those trucks here in the uk . He loved the truck hated the gas mileage it gave. So he dropped a 4 cylinder diesel in it . . Love to find one over here now . Nice video you guys are so good together. X

14:14 I just brought a 77 Buick LeSabre back home to Indiana from Atlanta last week and had the oil pressure regulator assembly depart from the filter adapter. I was able to catch it quickly and pulled over before any damage was done, but these parts don't exactly sit on store shelves anymore. Luckily had a friend in the Buick community who loaned me a regulator to get home. I recommend anyone who drives something with an external oil pump like the Buick and AMC V8s to keep a spare oil pump kit in the trunk. I plan on safety wiring my new regulator to keep it from backing out again.

I've always loved the Grand Wagoneer. The body design with the wood paneling always caught my eye. Plus it being AMC is a bonus. Great work, can't wait to see more of the Jeep!

Great video! I’ve had my Wagoneer for 6 years now. It sounds just like that and previous owner mentioned that it was the lifters. It have put almost 20 thousand miles in it and a few long trips, but not a problem with the engine yet, but it must be addressed. Looking forward to the next video and hopefully as usual, I’ll learn a few things from you guys! Keep it up! 😊

Ive struggled with understanding wiring diagrams and have been working real hard at work to get better at it. I know what you explained was a pretty simple system, but i actually understood both your explanations and the diagram. Thanks for that very small confidence boost!!

I have a 97 2 door Cherokee with a 5 speed that had a knock that got increasingly worse over time and thought it was a rod bearing being it had 207K miles on it and was beat to shit. Pulled the pan off and instead I found out that the number 6 piston had broken off a skirt. It now has a new freshened up 4.0 albeit with way more miles

I used to have an old Jeep Wagoneer when I was stationed up in northern Maine that had that same 360 motor and it was every bit as noisy as your 360 there. That old jeep was pretty much wore out and when I was getting ready to leave Maine and I got rid of it so I never bothered to check out the issue with it

Back in the day, if you needed a replacement rod, machine shops had rods that spun a bearing resized back to original specs. So you might find a rod that had a #2 stamped on it, but in a different cylinder. Or a rod cap matched to a rod stamped 6.
