I just finished reading the Revised and Expanded version of the Abramelin and I thought it was amazing. I studied Hinduism/Buddhism for 4 years prior and went through a lot of the same austerities in ascetism and abstinence that they go through in the Abramelin. It really does transform your entire mind. Your mind becomes indomitable after you commit to ascetism for a lengthy period of time. This is paramount if your trying to control the deep unknown forces of the Unconscious mind.

And always remain reverent and grateful for any inkling of spiritual insight you get hinted towards. You already have your Holy Guardian Angel. The Abramelin is about getting more fully in-touch with your Holy Guardian Angel, binding yourself to your Holy Guardian Angel, and binding the cthonic spirits with oaths of obedience so they will be unable to significantly interfere with you anymore, and might just make themselves useful instead. How high-quality your connection will be is directly related to how much effort you put into purifying and "holy-ifying" yourself during the process, be it 6 months or 18 months. @@NfindaMalongo TBH I have talked with perhaps 3 people who completed, and have watched KZbin videos by two (including this one). I see two tendencies: one is complete mindfuckery, leading to incredible arrogance and/or insanity, the other is people who did it but felt disappointed as there was no big illumination or mind-blowing encounter with an angel, etc. So although I was originally very keen now I wonder if perhaps there is something missing in the literature or perhaps a hidden aspect that was only passed on by word of mouth that we have lost.

Tbh idk why Crowley even tried. One of the first “rules” which mostly overlooked but I believe is absolute is if you have changed faiths. You can be any flavor of monotheistic but you can’t switch teams. Then we get to the demons. Most occultists could not convince me to throw water on them if they were on fire. You need to be of immovable faith and be extremely convincing of it. So if 100 ppl say they completed it , I doubt 1 has.

He was a filthy blasphemer. A very smart man but even he disregarded the rules. You can modify the operation to the times you live in but certain things can not be changed. Like most older works on the occult the important stuff needs to be sifted out from among the verbiage, the superstition, the mistranslations and misunderstandings. The restrictions and complications are there as a get-out clause for the scammers selling the work for when it doesn't work (see the Prosperity Gospel scammers today - "Ah well if God hasn't repaid the money you gave us a hundred-fold then your faith isn't strong enough, try donating more.") So much so that some students will make the ritual impossible to do to justify not looking….. as a practitioner showed me 27 years ago, Do It = 93, Just Do It =418, so maybe Nike had it right. About the showering bit. We have to put the book in the context of the time period in which it was written. I'm not sure how common this knowledge is, but the ability to take a bath everyday is a more recent occurrence when looked through the lens of history. Especially for Jews that were relegated to ghettos as they often were, out of hatred and racism. That is also assuming that Abraham von Worms was actually a Jew. So the bath thing...yeah. People were pretty rank until fairly recently.

Like another viewer mentioned, I had been apprehensive about undergoing the ritual because of this: I have a stable very well paying job that supports the household solo. I had been advised to rather look at Abramelin and the HGA 'when I'm between jobs' or retired, as the HGA entering my life would potentially upend my job etc. If you don't mind, what are your thoughts on that? Similar concept different spirit. Every culture has their own version of positive teacher spirit. The agathos daimon is the greek version. Though it should be noted that if you're doing the Abramelin it kinda handwaves the fact pagans can do it by saying something to the effect of "If you are a pagan consider the christian god to be the same as whatever your pantheons highest god is"

No i just recommend reading chapter 1 and chapter 3. (the story of abraham and the ritual itself) and doing evocations of Michael to figure out how you should custom tailor it to yourself. Or just do it straight as is if you have no magick experience (to the best of your ability)

I've heard the Mather's version is rife with errors--

But i really think they're two different versions of the same ritual modifyed by different people. They're both the abramelin but they're not THE SAME abramelin. hope that makes sense.

The maximum required time to finish the ritual that you need to take off work is 1 week and you need to take a few minutes at noon to do a quick prayer after you start the second and third period. And even taking off that full week is optional. The book is actually clear in that anyone can do the ritual and finish it. "Even a servant in his masters house can complete the work" -paraphrased from the book
