Doesn't know much about the us military's career side of things, but I think it's good to have plans like this, but leave space for changes if this person have a different idea in the future.

True story: Both my parents were US citizens, but they lived in Canada cuz that's where Dad got a good full-time job. He was close enough to the border that he was still able to do his USAFR weekend warrior duty as a munitions maintenance officer, B-52's at Loring AFB, Maine. Meanwhile, I enlisted USAF and filled out my job dream sheet, including Intell as one of my top choices, and I had the scores for it. But they disqualified me because my parents lived "overseas.' In Canada.

As someone who got to sit in the F22 Raptor when I was 5 years. I have loved fighter jets since I was 2 years old I am currently in college getting a double degree in Mechanical Engineering and Materials science engineering. I want to work on the F22 or F35 if I am able to and then after college become a fighter pilot for the Airforce like I have dreamed of since I was 2! This video basically tells me that I am not crazy for wanting to do that and that it is very much possible! Thanks for this video!

I wish I would have known more about the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve when I got out of the Navy. Granted I was a nuclear trained machinist mate on submarines , but I always wanted to fly and would have been willing to have gone this route. I did not do the research or even had the knowledge about the programs.

Same boat I was in. I applied for STA-21 twice and learned later on that having a pilot license before I got in probably did more damage than good. Also, the nuclear pipeline spent a ton of money and doesn't want to lose you for another community, had I known the ANG route I might have gotten out sooner so I could fly, but I am happy with the nuclear career I have now, I just really miss flying.

@tslay7928 in the Army having a PPL is a major plus when applying for Warrant Officer flight training. Hell the Air Force now sends folks to private schools for the PPL prior to UPT.

@@tslay7928 yep. If you can't make it through that hurdle no use wasting taxpayer money on you. Which is why the Army views it as a bonus. Because they don't have to waste that time and money.

@@WillieBrownsWeiner totally agree, that’s why I thought I’d be a shoe in back in 2001. I’m pretty sure the Navy has adopted this mindset now if it being a good thing.

If you want to go into the military a lot of jobs, and companies like good will. They will give you military leave. If you do not have your GED you can go to an excel center to get one for free while you work. If anyone needs a job to start and want experience before going. Good Will is a great start. Another option is being part time on both jobs and working your way to being a pilot. Take your time to see what you want to do inside the military or outside of the military.

🙋🏽‍♂️ What is the situation with UAV Pilots? I know locally. Our local Air Guard unit here in the Pennsylvania AFNG, the 111th Attack wing here at Willow Grove; is a MQ-9 base now. Formerly they were all A-10 drivers... Could that be a good option for people? Is The UAV pilot pipeline different?

The comments from 7:55 onwards about dual citizenship are somewhat inaccurate, at least if you are trying to obtain security clearance as an officer in 2023/24. *Assuming you are a native-born US citizen,* you can absolutely obtain clearance as a dual citizen, with a few conditions: it helps *if the country is a close ally of the US* (best example would be any obedient NATO member i.e. any member but Turkey basically), and *if the reason you are a dual citizen is purely due to your parents being citizens of that other country,* as in, you didn’t go and obtain that 2nd citizenship yourself-obtaining it yourself means that maybe you’re a bigger fan of that other country than you are of the USA; if you obtained this other citizenship simply by being born…then clearly intent/feelings played no part in becoming that other country’s citizen. Also, *if you’ve never once participated in that other country’s elections,* that is a big help. Voting in another country suggests you care more about the goings-on there than you do in the US. And *have a clean record otherwise-no hiding money offshore, no diplomatic incidents* etc. If the other country is a US ally, you’ll get your clearance and maintain your other citizenship. Gonky here is talking about a citizen of India-which is at best an unaligned country, at worst openly sympathetic to Russia-and happened decades ago, and it sounds like this person was a NATURALIZED US citizen, not native-born. Of course that dude had to renounce his Indian citizenship.

Kinda off topic, but if you guys get so triggered by Hollywood's continued inaccuracy about planes, why don't you just start a consulting company so they get it right? Or do you have to be active military to consult? Or do they get it wrong so no one has a tutorial on how to actually fly the thing if they're trying to steal it? Makes a lot of sense.
@ChucksSEADnDEAD

Because movies/videogames use consulting to sprinkle some legitimacy and realism in the background but the important stuff is kept the way the writers/director wanted it. There was an interview with a military consultant for the Call of Duty games a decade ago or so, he said that once he tried to correct the position of the radio in a character's equipment but the developers refused because they had already decided the wrong way to wear a radio looked cooler.
