The MISSION to create a new world set sail on Friday, November 22, 1633. Father Andrew WHITE erected a symbol of death and established the Slave Province of Maryland. I'm say, do you see where this is going ... Much love from Charm City

I don’t think Corporate America is designed for black people to win. I saw a flaw in the department I was working in. I wrote a description for a new role and submitted it to HR. HR implemented the position. I applied to be the supervisor for the position I created. After 15 years experience in the industry and graduating with a 3.8gpa MBA, they told me I needed more experience. I trained my manager who had a high school diploma and had never worked in the industry. We have to learn to be okay with creating and supporting our own as much as we can.

Sameeeeee happened to me recently!!!! But what I’m learning is that they want someone who knows nothing about the company off the street that they can mold and manipulate to do their work… if they hire you they will have to deal with your backlash and resentment to do what they want… essentially they want a puppet not a leader

@@carpballet As has happened to other non black people. Corporations are authoritarian institutions with roots in the slave and colonial systems. There were poor whites in the Americas and in other colonies during the worse days of chattel slavery and jim crow and apartheid. That doesn't mean that poor whites and poor blacks were equally targeted by race based systems of oppression, or that poverty made them allies any more than wealth made rich or middle class blacks allies of rich or middle class whites. If class trumped race as many would have us believe then world history and many current societies like the US, Brazil, and South Africa would be vastly different.

Corporations are like Casinos! The house always win! Employees are proverbial pawns on the chess board in Corporate America!

@ceofounder: People seem to forget why the 3/5ths of a person clause was inserted in the constitution and that it benefitted the captains of the dominant industry of the time. In modern America the corporation is a person, money is speech, but saying black lives matter stirs anger and controversy. People and nation states and societies show you who they are and what, if anything, they stand for.

When I first started my locs 15 years ago I got more push back from Black Females in leadership positions than any other! The stress is real but as I got older and realize that they are no better than me! I no longer tolerate disrespect. I’m a Consultant now and it’s works miracles I’m not tied down. I can pick and choose the projects I’m comfortable with working and not afraid to end it early if need be!

I wonder why that is as well. My own mother was insistent on telling me I was going to have a hard time finding work because of my locs. I simply reminded her that if a company is discriminating me or doesn’t want to hire me because of my locs, I wouldn’t want to work there anyway.

I did experience unfairness in corporate America, but after learning the ropes and navigating the environment it is par of the course. You have to vet accordingly and call out things as soon as they happen. There is always a time and place for everything.

They were lining up millions to judge Black women by their bodies, as if that’s all they bring to the table. And let’s not forget, the target demo was single moms aged 18-34 making $30K a year-basically, women trying to make ends meet while they’re getting objectified. So, which narrative would you pick: empowerment or exploitation? 🤔

In the case of the man being interviewed, his experiences reminds me of that episode of the wayans brothers when Shawn got that job writing jingles or something like that. And his whyte co-worker was stealing his jingles and using them as his own, and that movie sorry to bother you. Your hard work keeping the numbers up, was the reason she was able to do whatever she wanted. You were bringing in the numbers so they panicked when you started to put yourself first, because now they have to work if you’re not there to keep the numbers up. Classic whyte behavior. Reap the benefits our hard work and while we ourselves have nothing to show for it. Document! Keep note of everything they do and say. that way when they approach you or you want to take them to court, you have evidence that you were being discriminated against. While others were allowed to do what they pleased.

@TS-hr5ox: I have always documented my work and I have never been in management. It only takes one manager with or without the help of a co-worker or co-workers of any race or gender to turn your low key 9-5 or second or midnight shift into a stressful battle zone. I DO NOT let anyone know that I do so, or the nature of my documentation. People have found the hard way when their accusations and supporting documentation don't match. No matter how many people that it brings in from elsewhere, America will never evolve beyond the mentality of its plantation origins because only those who think like the old slave masters are allowed to rise and to rule.
