Honestly, duping a soul to skip farming the same enemies for 8 hours? Totally valid. There are plenty of places you can easily farm however many you'd like given enough time, and the challenge of the run should be bosses, not patience.

SL1 in dark souls 1 is overrated. Of all the classes, pyromancer is probably the best at base level despite being the lowest. If you want an interesting challenge, try beating the game at base level with each class. They each have their ups and downs, and it makes for some good variety in the challenge. IMO, thief is the hardest. 9 str is so rough, and he wastes tons of stat points on int and faith.

@@Shmethan He does serve a purpose beyond just being a lumpy lump of lumps. He's a merchant for pyromancy spells after you get infected, and he can upgrade the pyromancy flame.

kinda late to the party here, but wanted to share a tip for this specific run. grabbing the darkmoon seance ring in the catacombs and attuning power withing to that third slot it gives you, lets you carry two pyromancy spells instead of one. so you buff up, swap the ring for the bellowing dragoncrest ring and there you go! you can fire tempest your way through the late game.

When I fight with Gwin, like pyromance, I saw that Black Flame do less damage than Great Combustion. I don't know why but in my case it's work like that. So, I saw my new goal challenge in this great game.

My attempt at a SL1 playthrough went quite well. The only bosses I couldn't beat were Manus, Kalameet, and Gwyn.

Manus and Kalameet are extra tough at SL1, but at least they are optional. Gwyn can be hard too because of the fast swing, but i believe in you!

I think the Soul Duping is understandable since the point of the video is to beat it "easy mode" at SL1. However, if you're really against using glitches just going around beating bosses and using their souls to upgrade your flame normally is relatively easy, Pyromancy is OP anyway and you can easily beat a few of the tutorial bosses with an unupgraded flame, and after a few bosses you would be able to upgrade your flame a few levels at a time until eventually you would be able to fully upgrade it without farming or duping. So you'll still be overpowered, it just takes a bit longer for you to reach your "final form".

Anyway, I'm also playing on the original version, Prepare to Die, iirc using heavy load is the easiest because the animation takes longer (more time to input the commands) and I would fully recommend practicing on the lowest boss soul you have (probably moonlight butterfly's) that way if you mess it up you didn't just burn a big soul used to dupe haha

some unstated theoretical person: "How could you possibly use soul duplication in a challenge run!?" Me, not even knowing HOW soul dupe glitches work: "easily." It cuts down on grinding when grinding is necessary and that's fine by me. Generally I actually prefer when challenge runs _Do_ permit glitches, they're neat and it's fun seeing people break the game just to do stupid shit- though they should typically be kept to a minimum- just make sure they're there when you need 'em. Makes good content. Things that just make the run more bearable- like soul duping cutting down on grinding- don't need to be kept to a minimum.

Summary- pyromancy didn't have requirements or need scaling in the first game. So for any other build, this is about the same as just pumping your casting stat and ignoring any other stats or enchanted weapons.

I always get the stone armor before capra (you can get it up the stairs next to the hydra). The hydra is pretty easy imo just use a good shield. The stone armor for me trivializes Capra on any build.

I haven't tried but what weight class would stone armor put you in at base endurance? I guess you can also get the ring of Favor and Protection and/or Havel's ring before then so it might not matter anyway lol

Bellowing Dragoncrest only boost sorcery, as opposed to the head piece which boosts all magic . A lvl 1 pyromancer has 10 intelligence and that only gets u soul arrow .

Iirc you basically do an animation (for me it was fat rolling), then during that animation try to use an item that has a yes prompt while navigating to the menu to drink an estus? Maybe I have that backwards it's been a while
