I don't know why I think it's just a personal preference. But I don't like the over-inflated damage and stat numbers. I like the old style where it starts low and builds up gradually. Otherwise the numbers just mean nothing to me. Great run!

Numbers are all about 1,000× higher, it's more like they just introduced a mechanism to have more precision than bigger numbers IMO. What got me was just how fast you gained levels, in no previous game could you gain 3 levels killing something that's a lower level than you; it just made the grind feel like it's mocking you because it's easy to level up but they made it so you still have to use the auto battle feature to get the kind of power you need for the post game.

Disgaea 6 feels like a mobile game in a lot of ways

It isn't just personal preference, there is a legitimate reason RPGs start with low numbers. It allows our brains to establish a base and get a sense of progression. Lets us Meaver, the gate keeper at around 6:11 as an example where you can see her stats. 4,375,533 Health. She takes 20K damage. If you stop and think about what 20K is it is obvious, but when you see it for 1 second in game to get feedback you don't. If you attack her and deal this much damage in an instant you should think "That is a lot of damage!" She has 4,355,533 health left. Suddenly it is nothing. 20K is supposed to be a lot of damage though. Why is the game showing you such high numbers at the start if you're not getting a return equal to it? People used to seeing 20K and other large numbers tend to 1-shot enemies. In base you're not. It is confusing. It is suppose to be a lot of damage but it is almost nothing. There is no sense of progression since if you played Disgaea you should KNOW how and when certain numbers appear. You also know that trying to read 20K and take it from 4,375,533 isn't something you try to figure out in Disgaea. This is why a lot of people dislike D6 despite being fans. There is no sense of progression as there is no established baseline that makes sense and when it does make sense it betrays what players wanted from an higher max level.

Back when I did a disgaea 5 prinny only run, I had to get poison vaccine as it was the only thing holding me back. So many stages lost because of poison, especially the stages that auto poisoned you if you went in the sea 😭.

I'm so worried for Disgaea 7... I was legitimately pumped for 6, bought it day one and it turned out to be a janky mess where the only praise I can give it is that thanks to auto-battle I didn't actually need to play the game... Seriously I have well over 400 hours put into D6 and maybe 20 of those hours actually involved me holding the controller and the rest was the game just playing itself overnight. Not to mention the majority of those 20 hands-on hours were purely staring at menus because it took so long to repeatedly reincarnate everyone.

i have to disagree with this, sure auto battle is nice for grinding, but when you know the game its less effective for anything outside item world, point being when it released on ps5 and pc i made a video showing how i got to and beat rakshahsa 5 in under 12 hours without auto battle

@@Primalliquid92 Wasn't best grinding methods use auto battle where you kill 99 allies so the 100th can get all the experience. Wasn't it you who even showed these methods? Even in your Rakshahsa example... that is nice you spend 12 hours playing the game when someone else could play for less then 1 hour by just walking away doing something else and get the same results. You have a nice looking game time sure... but they have less time wasted because the game could do those 11 hours for them. The game has major issues.

Well, of course you failed, because of that BS stage which had a weather effect that causes your Prinny to be hit with a bomb that makes it explode because Prinny explode and die when they get hit with bombs. Glad to see Disgaea 6 being a lot more reasonable since it doesn't have damn netherworld effects that shoot missiles at your units that make them explode and die. X( Also, you said you'd use a normal Prinny but you can't even have Prinnies until you beat Prinny World, so you're stuck with the DLC uber Prinny based on a vocaloid. XD

I do have trouble with the auto battle comment. It is true that the auto battle is a nice feature, but the endgame is balanced around it. When in disgaea 5 took 3h to softcap (when you already had the setup ready) 15 to hardcap (?) (has been long since i did it so i may be wrong) and then you could duplicate it. Now it takes 30h and you can't dupe it, so you have to do it 4 times x character. The "just don't use it" argument kinda falls off, the game expects you to leave it running overnight or while you're doing other stuff (that i personally hate leaving things overnight). That was just an example, but even if the difference between games weren't that big the problem is when you're doing something and you know there's a more efficient way to do it, so you're left either feeling you're wasting time or that you can't play the game you wanted to play cause it's playing itself, and the problem is specifically there when is a game about minmaxing so players that like this kind of games will try to do the most optimal thing. Yes autobattle is a nice feature. You can play the main story without it no problem aswell. But the fact that it exists shaped the way the endgame was done, that manualling even if technically posible is not really feasible. That the alternative to something bad is worse doesn't make it better. That said i'm looking forward to the implementation on 7, based on what i read seems like optimizing you A.I will help you use less skip tickets so playing with it and trying to optimize it will be more rewarding, and you won't have to leave the game running in the background that often since will be skipped. Seems a way to make it fun and not as idle game like. But we will have to wait and see. I already replayed d6 more times than d5, because every time it leaves me wanting for more, it may say that i spent triple of time on d6 than on d5 but for sure i had d5 on my hands way more time than d6. d5 felt more fullfiling and fun, not only because of it of course, but auto battle was a big part of that. For me Disgaea was always about making the grinding fun, auto battle even if convenient is not fun, and manually doing something that can be done by itself is even less fun.

i don't consider those "game forces you to use X character only" stages to be run enders. i don't even consider them to be part of the run. just a brief intermission where the game tells you to remember that one character they wrote the story for.

IMO, Prinny god should be much harder to get and have access to moves, evilities and acess to being able to have weapons that no other prinny can have and cannot explode if thrown. Also, have busted skills like, +10 more in all stats that the current prinny god already has.

Honestly, I do prinny runs for shits and giggles myself xD long before I knew other people did them, granted, I typically failed eventually out of boredum. In D5 I loved using Metalia since she makes catching easier xD haven't really done a replay of D6 yet tho

stat levels START high Which was one of the biggest complaints I had with the game, I really miss the feeling of watching my first prinny chip away at some low level enemy's health for 1's and 0's just to have them level up and equip some gear to just smash their faces in with a ridiculous amount of damage. This game never felt like you really got much of a power increase.

This comment is from before watching the video: I know there's a rakshasa stage that you need to throw people so optional stuff can't be done Main story there's a stage that throws bombs at you but i think you can do that one by getting barefoot x on the item world and maxing them out (?) but there's also backup.... hard to say but i think it is.

Except for a few characters here and there, that are mostly reintroduced anyway, you can play these games in any order. That said there is an expection, Disgaea D2 (currently Ps3 only) is a direct sequel to Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (aka Disgaea 1). So that is the only Disgaea game you absolutely need to play one before the other.

I'll freely admit, my personal gripe with Disgaea 6 isn't the Auto-battle, nor is it the stat inflation (though I admit that NIS could've rationed out the extra stat numbers a bit more carefully). What gets under my skin was the complete lack of Weapon Skills. Said skills are exclusive to certain classes, which in turn basically reduces one's weapon choice to being a mere stat stick. As someone who started with Disgaea 2 and loved the hell out of Disgaea 5, Zed being unable to use Big Bang just felt wrong. As it stands, only thing left to do for me is kill Rakshasa Baal. Been working on powering up Valvatorez thanks to his Absorption Evility letting him cap his stats with ease. Also, is it just me, or does using manual control not feel as smooth as it did in prior games?

I'm nearing the end of my Disgaea 5 playthrough after finishing the base game of 6 and while Disgaea 5 has more mechanics that can make it more fun, God did I miss the auto battle and repeat features. Grinding the characters were such a pain early game. And Idk why people hated it in 6 since there were some stages that I couldn't auto battle even with 9,999 units.

honestly... i'd fail you for using DLC to begin with....and the fact Fubu's class is "white fox ruler" and not "prinny". Understandably, given you can't get prinnies til later, i can see why this is an exception. I would of done "the game starts at [when you get prinnies]" and then re-run the previous stages with that prinny...assuming that's a thing as i haven't played D6. Still..good fun. :)

Like, I realize with Disgaea games the grinding is the point but the fact that 300 hours of grinding only was able to complete 1/3 of the game's content is *exactly* why I hate the Auto Battle function. Either you use it, defeating the very thing the series is well known for, OR you invest literally hundreds of hours doing manual grinds (compared to previous entries where grinding was more rewarding due to lower stat/level caps). When playing I got to the point where it just felt like the game didn't respect my time so I... stopped. Put it down and never picked it back up about halfway thru Carnage mode. It didn't feel rewarding anymore. The magic of earlier titles just wasn't there.

im sorry but you are completely missing the point of WHY i had to do that grind, look at ALL of the forced limitations i added to this run, by ignoring that and still saying auto battle = bad is shocking, i have a video on this channel of getting to and beating Rak 5 in under 12 hours. So no, at aboslutely NO POINT is auto battle required, nor do you need to spend hundreds and hundreds of hours auto battling.
