In the docks tab of the top menu bar, there's a stats page that includes some useful information at a glance, like frames missed due to rendering lagg, free disk space, and estimated time until full. Might be helpful for diagnosing if the issue is still happening and managing pesky drive space. Hope this helps.

For those who attemp this challenge as well. putting powerpoles in the power area of other power poles doesn't transmit electricity, but putting an accumulator in the power field of two power poles allows a transfer of power equal to the charge/discharge rate of low power applications, like reloading turrets or inserters in a coal smelter setup.
@sillymonkey7256 ай бұрын
Yeah, well, the 1st pole has to be near a power source (solar panel, steam engine), then place accumulator(s) (multiple would help with how much power they can provide together) within range of that pole, then a 2nd pole that covers the accumulators. But that's it. You can't repeat that pattern with another to make a 3 pole chain. I mean... you can, but power can't jump from an accumulator to another, so the 3rd pole won't provide any power. So idk, only limited use, and you still need a power source nearby anyway. A steam engine seems better than accumulators in 99% of cases.
@dungewar6 ай бұрын
Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing video with high quality editing, but it kinda talked little about the challenge itself. It feels like I didn't understand much about what makes a wireless run challenging, instead what made this particular run challenging. This was a cool challenge. Was there a reason you didn't make heavier use of burner inserters in the early game, especially for things like the turrets on the wall and the furnace stacks? The output side of the furnaces would have been a little iffy, but the turret's ammo belt could have had coal on the other side, saving you the trouble of finagling the mish-mash of steam pipes, steam engines, and power poles.
@DocJade6 ай бұрын

@@isaacshultz8128 There's an overhaul mod for Factorio, called Pyanodon. One of the feature of this mod is that coal (and a lot of other burnable stuff) has a byproduct of burning - ash. There is a smaaaaal issue about that: every electric connection runs independently so that means instead of many electrical connections running on slightly optimized steam engines working on half force and NOT affecting ups SO much we have one big electrical connection that runs counting every single electrical rollercoaster happening with power on endgame base Good luck running that game and not crashing if mod's developers not optimised that

It would work for only 1 substation to another, not for a chain a 3. The reason being that accumulators only recharge when power is overproduced in a power grid. By definition, accumulators are not power producers, so the 2nd power grid will never produce a surplus. In other words, power will never jump from your first group of accumulators to the second group, so the 3rd substation would be decoration, no more.
