My suggestion for next time is to go with Franz, arguably the best unit in the game. Edit: Just realized Knoll is going to be so much fun with his 0 base luck, 20% growth, and the only Sacred Twin to not be effective against monsters meaning he can’t even go summoner.

Great stuff as always! As for the allowance of another elixir for the Demon King, I think it's fine. It always baffled me that you weren't allowed a break there anyway. Personally, I think you'd be fine even taking it a step further and allowing a save state there after clearing Lyon a certain amount of times. After a certain point, the ability to clear Lyon has been demonstrated handily and is just more tedium for you to get through without proving anything else. Either way, keep up the great content. Looking forward to the next one!

I will add, the way rules are written are 1 healing item per map, not per chapter, so you wouldn't even need to change the rules for the extra one to be usable, but I fully understand if you'd like to keep the current way of doing it.

I would say Great Knight has one other small advantage over the General: Starting with D axes means Gilliam would have immediate access to the Halberd, whereas going General he can't wield it until he levels up his Axe rank once. It's a small thing, and effective weaponry isn't nearly as impactful in Sacred Stones as it is in some other games, but it's still worth mentioning.

I've been keeping a very close on eye on all of this and so far, there isn't really a fall off in terms of people who make it up to that point. It seems that I usually tend to have a dropoff around the 8-10 minute mark. So, I'm trying to identify what I can do better with every video! This one was a little heavier on the commentary on the latter end, to be fair, as I kind of wanted to experiment with a little more since I've received very positive response on that in earlier videos. When my retention curve comes out for this video I'll see if maybe I wasn't too heavy handed this time around! But thank you for the tip and the concern it's always quite appreciated :)

In regards to the healing item mulligan for the Fomortis fight, maybe set the rule up so that you can't do that until you fail the fight at least twice. Could even be more if you prefer. The idea is that it makes you still try the final boss the current way, but gives you the leeway for characters that may struggle more.

If you need a good reference for the reset counter and tier list rankings then you should check out Scott's Thoughts. He does pokemon runs on KZbin but will typically do multiple playthroughs with the same pokemon to optimize strategy. As a side note I am curious as to what Fire Emblem games you have. Would love to see a Soren only run at some point.

Here is another thing you might like to know if you didn't already. Chapter 18 can actually screw you over if the last enemy dies from the fire panels. Even though it kills the enemy it won't count as complete so you'll have to redo the entire map of that nappens.That Or at least that is what I have heard. I've never actually had this happen to me so I can't confirm if this is 100% true or not, but I thought I would warn you just in case.

The low spawn rate on the runesword is surprising to learn about. They showed up so often for me in the first floor of the tower, I used to farm those when I played this game as a kid! (Not bragging, I am legitimately shocked!)

I never use knights enough and I so feel bad for Gilliam because he does tank very well on the early levels while everyone else is still a bit squishy. I will keep on championing for Knoll's revenge, but until then may I also suggest Artur or Vanessa for other runs? And I do agree with other people that you should be allowed a fresh elixir batch on the very last Fomortiis encounter, as it Is a separate map of it's own and you already have enough trouble with the previous stage. Saw this uploaded the second I got home but had to take care of some appointments first and it was so rewarding to finally get to watch it, keep up the great work! Probably not until the actual playable characters are all accounted for, but do you have in mind to use the Creature Campaign unlockables such as Glen and Ismaire someday? Just out of curiosity really.

@@kratosmvn_ tbh its actually really easy.... until you to the chap with the madking and you realize the kiddy gloves are off lol havent been able to get pass the invasion on the boat with all the calavary yet ( namely because its really hard to have enough units able to not only tank the hits coming but also kill them ) all while having enough healing to deal with them since you cant turtle due to the AI charging at you in groups of 4 or more ever 1-3 turns

wow this comment ended up super long Gilliam solo-he should have a pretty easy time early game because of his high defense, then maybe struggle a bit until he can promote, then he'll really steamroll a lot of things with full weapon triangle coverage and extremely high caps that he's probably gonna hit at least a few of. Low move is a weakness, as is low resistance, but the boots from ch 15 should help with the first issue and given it's a solo it'll be a slow run anyways where the limited movement isn't as much of a hindrance as it is in normal runs. Probably the single most important level up for him to get is to get speed so he hits at least 4 speed so he can double 0 speed enemies, as well as avoid being doubled. More speed is better, but that first point to get him to 4 speed is extremely important. Gilliam's speed blessing at lvl 20 knight was really neat. (later) - Ah, you recorded this one a while ago, before really thinking of which weapon to S rank. Garm would have been more useful for gilliam, but vidofnir is still a mighty fine weapon and will help him with the final chapters and final boss. As a side note-S rank lances helped out a bit with the fight vs carlyle, who is one of the more annoying bosses to take down, so having S rank lances does have some upsides. General lvl 20 having 21 speed is pretty great. Forgot to buy enough hand axes and javelins? Well, you won't make that mistake in the future, will you? Ch 17-why not have had gilliam on the forest next to lyon's castle (but outside of his attack range) instead of the plain tile? It would have been worth him taking an extra turn (unless the druids would have reached the forest and blocked the path) for him to get the forest for the extra 20 avoid. Hmm, seeing you stay on the plains tile despite having killed the first wave of druids just seems like a mistake. You could have killed the swordmaster from the forest tile, and later a mage took that forest tile to attack you from. The extra 20 avoid really would have helped gilliam avoid taking so many magic hits when dealing with the enemy waves. Pure water, as you mention later, also would have helped 19:30-here, exactly here those druids are taking that forest tile and the 1 extra defense that gives them makes it so gilliam isn't killing them with 1 hit instead of 2. Given how low you were on 1-2 range weapons, that's a really bad thing to allow As a tip for future runs-if someone has S swords, they can use audhulma to help soak magic hits like on chapter 18-those shadowshot gorgons will hurt much less with audhulma equipped and a pure water used-that's up to +12 res. Don't use audhulma against the gorgons, switch to something else like a steel/silver sword, but having it equipped while soaking magic hits seems like a good way to massively reduce the damage the sword unit would take 24:40- 'get unlucky and get hit by the crit fire tiles' - I don't think the fire tiles can crit. They do a set 10 damage, but the screen/HP bar shakes a bit if it's enough to make the unit die. For non-moving gorgons-some of them are set to 'stationary AI' so they don't move- I think it's usually ones that are blocking a chokepoint or with a seige weapon like shadowshot. Like-a notable example are the wights in front of lyon in the final chapter and some of the gorgons around him-none of them ever move 26:07-tip for future runs-when doing stuff like this and using an elixir or other item, or just putting a unit in a spot to bait the enemy and counterattack, have them equip the weapon you want them to use to counterattack. Like here you should have had gilliam equip the javelin first and then used the elixir-he would have been able to counterkill the gorgons on the next enemy phase. You also probably should have just tossed the iron blade back into the convoy and grabbed another javelin/hand axe since the one he had on him was down to 5 uses and you're fighting enemies that almost all have 1-2 range weapons. On the followup turns you really should have had gilliam use the javelin to kill all the gorgons-like attacking one of them with the javelin and having him counter the rest on the enemy phase. Would have made him take far fewer hits and risk dying much less. You also should have thrown the pure water back into the convoy when you weren't using it/didn't need to use it that turn because it's just taking up an inventory slot that could have been used for another javelin or something (I don't think your self imposed rules prevent taking pure waters and similar items out of the convoy to use) Chapter 19-you'd probably have to immediately grab mansel and then make a beeline for the speedwing chest if you want to have a chance of grabbing it before you get swarmed by enemies and they just form a horde of enemies you can't get through. I don't think many units could do this though since not many are as tanky as gilliam, and having to wade through the enemy forces would be hazardous, but if they manage to make it to the room with the speedwing they can just stand in the doorway after grabbing the speedwing to lower the number of enemies that can attack them. It might even be worth just dumping all their weapons in the convoy and having it so they can't counterattack and risk more enemies being able to attack them on enemy phase. Also-you'd have to have bought chest keys from a shop somewhere ahead of time so you can use them to open the chests 35:22-you should have moved gilliam up and right one space so he was next to the shadowshot gorgon, but outside of lyon's attack range. Then you could kill the gorgon and keep lyon from attacking you. For future reference-you should probably kill the 2 shadowshot gorgons that are behind lyon on the final map before attempting to kill him, then attack him from above so that none of the other enemies around him will be able to attack you from where you're attacking from, or at least they won't be able to attack you with demon surge (might be worth killing the gorgons below lyon too so they can't keep trying to snipe you with stone). Actually-it might have been better to use the brave lance here to quad lyon-you probably do more damage overall, you have more chances to get a crit, and you save uses of vidofnir for the demon king and the monsters in the final map. Vidofnir and the other sacred weapons don't have boosted damage against lyon, so they aren't worth using on him over some other powerful weapon like a brave weapon, silver weapon, or killer weapon. Actually-even against gorgons it might be better to use the brave weapon if you're able to kill them in 2 hits so you'd kill them before they get a chance to counter, also saving a use of the sacred weapon Against fomortiis-if he spawns 2 zombie dragons and you want to take them out before going to attack him again, you should have your solo unit run outside of his range so he doesn't snipe you from outside your attack range (since his weapons is 1-3 range). Also-it's probably worth promoting ephraim on every run just so he can run away farther on this final map. Also for consideration-should you make a save state after reaching the map with fomortiis so you don't have to redo the final lyon map every single time you attempt the final chapter? Reaching the final part with fomortiis shows that the unit has soloed the final lyon chapter, so it isn't really necessary to show beating it again and again. Making that save state at the start of the fomortiis map seems like it would really save your sanity when it takes a ton of attempts like the gilliam run 47:48-gotta love the great shield proc on gilliam who has 1 HP and has been turned to stone Gilliam on run 2-very nice, perfect speed to reach 23 with Garm, and made resetting the run worth it. Very nicely done completing the run with gilliam Rune sword-for future reference, here's a way to get one pretty much guaranteed (taken from gamefaqs)- 1) Head to the Tower of Valni. 2) Retreat and Save. 3) Do a Hard Reset (turn off the game, then turn it back on). 4) Re-enter the tower. One of the enemies on the first floor should have either a Runesword or a Spear (depends on the difficulty). 5) Kill the enemy before it attacks you to get the drop. 6) Repeat 2-5 as many times as you want. 7) Sell all the weapons you just collected for gold. This is taking advantage of how Sacred Stones RNG works, and manipulating it. You can look up ways to get infinite swiftsoles to drop from a wight in the lagdou ruins, along with many other neat items that are possible to get with RNG manipulation (sees other comment)-ok, glad to see someone else mentioned it. This is that runesword trick I mentioned in previous comments for solo runs with units that are only able to use swords-to avoid using exploits/make them have minimal impact on the run do the RNG manip to get the runesword from the tower of valni, use it on that gorgon egg in Chapter 18 that you need a 2 range weapon to hit, then after that egg is dead discard the runesword so it can't be used for anything else or sold for extra money Side note-the bonewalker that should have the spear/runesword should be the on that is between the pillars to the left of the boss entombed, so near the top left corner. Also-make sure you kill the bonewalker before it can equip the runesword or else it won't drop it and will instead drop the other weapon it's holding, unless it's a poison weapon and then it won't drop anything at all (enemies never drop poison weapons, even if they're supposed to drop something).

Again, thank you for the long comment, I love to see how passionate you are about these! 1- The plain tile vs forest tile thing was indeed more of a mistake, as I really didn't expect to have to strategize on this map at all since usually we kind of simply roll through it, but it would have been smart to think of that on the later attempts. 2- Thank you for the Adulhma tip that's quite ingenious. 3- For the counterattack thing at around 26 minute, that's my bad cause I didn't re-explain it, but the gorgons, from what I've noticed, will prioritise attacking over stone if they don't take any damage. I mentioned the observation during the Ross run, but forgot to reiterate it here. So whenever I had a handaxe or javelin equipped they would go for stone and since one stone is practically a game over I was more okay with banking on dodging the shadowshots. 4- on Chp. 19 I tried beelining for the chest in the second attempt and the huge issue is Gilliam barely doubles anyone and since a LOT of the units that get in the way are quickish (Heroes and Swordmasters) he has a hard time even hitting at time, that paired with the druid makes it extremely hard to get to the chest before getting surrounded. Also the chest key, I had some left from Chapter 5x and even Chapter 3 and I think Chapter 10 since I didn't use many of them. 5- Yeah, I should probably always focus killing the gorgons around him for most runs since it would make it more consistent. And when fighting the Demon King I need to learn to be more patient and move out of his range when trying to handle the annoying reinforcements. Thank you for all the tips and observations! @@kratosmvn_ a general positioning priority I tend to have even during easy chapters is stick to cover/defensive terrain when possible and when setting up to fight a boss to make sure to stay out of their attack range until i'm ready to fight them, so like the lyon chapter I'd have the unit stay in the woods that's just outside his attack range and let the solo unit wipe out any reinforcements that need to be handled before you can then move on to taking lyon on, assuming you aren't able to 1 round kill him with a 2 range weapon rereading through my comment and seeing the mention of removing all the unit's weapons by dumping them into the convoy so they have none equipped-this could probably be done on chapter 19 if you're just trying to speed through the chapter by grabbing mansel and waiting on the throne-if you don't counterattack the enemies, all the weak ones that start nearest to the throne will be the ones surrounding you and preventing the stronger ones like the reinforcements that spawn by Riev from being able to attack you. for the gorgons and avoiding them using stone-that's a fair point, though not all gorgons have stone. I think there's a fair number that only have demon surge, so they're able to be counter killed with a 1-2 range weapon. You'd probably have to check each gorgon to check if there are any in a group that have stone, or if they all just have demon surge, and if none of them have stone then that's a chance to use a 1-2 weapon to counterkill the lot of them. You can also do the same if only one of them in that group has stone-kill that one first if you're able to with a 1-2 range weapon and counterkill the other gorgons on enemy phase I was going to suggest you might be able to reach rennac and either kill him for the member card or recruit him via money if you break the left wall of the room he's in rather than opening the south door, being able to head him off by circling around the left if you can't reach him the turn after you open the door, though counting squares from the tile you'd break the wall from to the door rennac opens the following turn, it's 6 squares away so any non-armor promoted class should be able to reach him if they can counterkill the enemies that start next to him, but it doesn't look like there's anything really worth getting from the secret shops on the map aside from more killer weapons before chapter 17 and battle axes if you wanted some of those. Ch 19's secret shop is even worse, pretty much just being promotion items, lockpicks and physic, though it is on a tile that's very defensible and only like 2-3 enemies can attack you at a time-2 from the left, and 1 from the right through the wall, but the throne is still probably the better place to wait out the turn count
