Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is a tactical role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems, and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance handheld video game console in 2004 for Japan and 2005 in the West. It is the eighth entry in the Fire Emblem series, the second to be released outside Japan, and the third and final title to be developed for the Game Boy Advance after The Binding Blade and its prequel Fire Emblem.
Set in a separate continuity to earlier Fire Emblem titles, The Sacred Stones takes place on the fictional continent of Magvel, which is divided into five nations, each built around a magical stone said to be linked to the imprisonment of an ancient demon. When one of the five nations, the Grado Empire, invades its neighbors and begins destroying the stones, protagonists Eirika and Ephraim of the royal family of Renais set out to gather allies and halt Grado's conquest, while also trying to uncover the reasons for the war. The gameplay is similar to previous Fire Emblem games, focusing on turn-based, tactical movement of units across a grid-based battlefield. Core features of the game include permanent death for characters defeated in battle and support conversations that grant advantages to certain units in battle.

Some constructive criticism; At 4:35 when you are displaying Gilliam's stats at lvl 20 vs. the expected values, could you add headers to the expected values? It makes it easier for the viewer to understand which ones to compare to. Thanks, and amazing work as always!

My suggestion for next time is to go with Franz, arguably the best unit in the game. Edit: Just realized Knoll is going to be so much fun with his 0 base luck, 20% growth, and the only Sacred Twin to not be effective against monsters meaning he can’t even go summoner.

50:20 I believe Excelblem mentioned a RNG manipulation trick to make the runesword spawn in the tower. Since all this does is save real world time, I think it’s a forgivable exception to the no glitch rule.

Regarding additional potions on the last chapter, ngl, I kinda like seeing you struggle with the Elixir usage lol. That being said, maybe if it's absolutely needed *coughKnollcough*, you could make an exception and allow bringing an Elixir and a Vulnerary? that way it's some extra healing, but not much. Personally hoping for a Pegasus Knight run next (Tana?).

I would say Great Knight has one other small advantage over the General: Starting with D axes means Gilliam would have immediate access to the Halberd, whereas going General he can't wield it until he levels up his Axe rank once. It's a small thing, and effective weaponry isn't nearly as impactful in Sacred Stones as it is in some other games, but it's still worth mentioning.

Great stuff as always! As for the allowance of another elixir for the Demon King, I think it's fine. It always baffled me that you weren't allowed a break there anyway. Personally, I think you'd be fine even taking it a step further and allowing a save state there after clearing Lyon a certain amount of times. After a certain point, the ability to clear Lyon has been demonstrated handily and is just more tedium for you to get through without proving anything else. Either way, keep up the great content. I will add, the way rules are written are 1 healing item per map, not per chapter, so you wouldn't even need to change the rules for the extra one to be usable, but I fully understand if you'd like to keep the current way of doing it.

These solo character runs are so fun to watch! The sacred stones was the first FE game I ever played and I remember quitting the game because I accidentally got Natasha killed by the ballista on the map before you reunite with Ephiraim lol

Absolutely loving this series man! My only thing is that with the pacing things feel great until I find myself falling off with attempt after attempt in the end! You might wanna check your retention curve and see what that looks like, maybe if other people feel the same could try switching it up! Hey man, I appreciate the comment tremendously! Makes me very happy to see how much people care about these videos! I've been keeping a very close on eye on all of this and so far, there isn't really a fall off in terms of people who make it up to that point. It seems that I usually tend to have a dropoff around the 8-10 minute mark. So, I'm trying to identify what I can do better with every video! This one was a little heavier on the commentary on the latter end, to be fair, as I kind of wanted to experiment with a little more since I've received very positive response on that in earlier videos. When my retention curve comes out for this video I'll see if maybe I wasn't too heavy handed this time around! But thank you for the tip and the concern it's always quite appreciated :)

Nice, well played :) BTW, S Ranking also gives a passive +5% crit to all the weapon line, so when fishing for crits you generally wanna use the slayer weapon of the line you S ranked, uniess the extra might matters :p

I love these videos so much. I'd love to see a bunch of the different unit types in more of the videos, though I think doing a run with any of the healer types would be difficult. You'd have to pair them up with a guard till they leveled up enough to class up into something that could do damage, and that would take forever to do. Also, instead of Knoll, I'd love to see a dark Ewan run.

I love challenge runs in this game. Perfect for a little extra difficulty. I'm actually currently doing a run where I cannot enter any shop/armory/arena at all. Only allowed to use items that come with characters/maps/rewards. Pretty fun so far.

In regards to the healing item mulligan for the Fomortis fight, maybe set the rule up so that you can't do that until you fail the fight at least twice. Could even be more if you prefer. The idea is that it makes you still try the final boss the current way, but gives you the leeway for characters that may struggle more.

Ewan only run for a dark mage that isn't quite as bad as Knoll? We've seen the weapon triangle and anima so far in these runs, all that's left now is light, dark, and archers

The low spawn rate on the runesword is surprising to learn about. They showed up so often for me in the first floor of the tower, I used to farm those when I played this game as a kid! (Not bragging, I am legitimately shocked!)

For future runs, you can rig a guaranteed rune sword in the tower of valni, Excelblem did it in his 0 strength and 0% strength growths run.

If you need a good reference for the reset counter and tier list rankings then you should check out Scott's Thoughts. He does pokemon runs on KZbin but will typically do multiple playthroughs with the same pokemon to optimize strategy. As a side note I am curious as to what Fire Emblem games you have. Would love to see a Soren only run at some point.

#GILLIAMSWEEP even my mom congratulated you on this win! I never use knights enough and I so feel bad for Gilliam because he does tank very well on the early levels while everyone else is still a bit squishy. I will keep on championing for Knoll's revenge, but until then may I also suggest Artur or Vanessa for other runs? And I do agree with other people that you should be allowed a fresh elixir batch on the very last Fomortiis encounter, as it Is a separate map of it's own and you already have enough trouble with the previous stage. Saw this uploaded the second I got home but had to take care of some appointments first and it was so rewarding to finally get to watch it, keep up the great work! Probably not until the actual playable characters are all accounted for, but do you have in mind to use the Creature Campaign unlockables such as Glen and Ismaire someday? Just out of curiosity really.

Here is another thing you might like to know if you didn't already. Chapter 18 can actually screw you over if the last enemy dies from the fire panels. Even though it kills the enemy it won't count as complete so you'll have to redo the entire map of that nappens.That Or at least that is what I have heard. I've never actually had this happen to me so I can't confirm if this is 100% true or not, but I thought I would warn you just in case.

Do you have an idea on how you want to tweak the challenge for those units without the offense needed to get through the game? Vanessa, Moulder, L'Arachel and Tethys do not start with a way to damage enemies (and the latter never gets one) and Myrrh only has 50 attacks total in the vanilla game.

@@kratosmvn_ tbh its actually really easy.... until you to the chap with the madking and you realize the kiddy gloves are off lol havent been able to get pass the invasion on the boat with all the calavary yet ( namely because its really hard to have enough units able to not only tank the hits coming but also kill them ) all while having enough healing to deal with them since you cant turtle due to the AI charging at you in groups of 4 or more ever 1-3 turns

It would be better to always keep it equipped you're right, but it's just cumbersome at time and limits my inventory a little. So unless I know I'll need it, I keep it in the convoy.
