Can You Beat Majora's Mask's Dungeons In Reverse Order With 3 Hearts?

I might have mentioned before but, as well as Fromsoft games, I'm also a big fan of the Legend of Zelda series and I've wanted to do a Zelda challenge on the channel for a while. There's also an additional stipulation I gave myself, which caused me a lot of pain, but I'll leave you to see that for yourselves in the video. I hope you guys enjoy it, even though it's a bit different from usual.

@@JKLeedsid love if you went after the other games. Im a huge fan of Zelda and im disappointed more people dont do challenges like this aside from BOTW/TOTK. Its probably easier since those are open world but its still disappointing that we dont get more content like this. Id love to see you tackle Wind Waker in a similar fashion and to also hear your opinions on it. Edit: my mother had me draw a tattoo for her and i drew Sheik! Zelda tattoo gang stand up!

6:02 It is really simple. The transformations look like Link screaming in agony because putting the mask on causes all feelings of sorrow and regret to assault Link all at once. As revealed by the Happy Mask Salesman on Miiverse a while ago.

The reason the song of healing gives you the masks to wear is because this way, you can heal their souls by solving the regrets of their life, and thus help them properly die. Except for the Deku Mask, this is just a case of Skull Kid killing a Deku Scrub ( probably the butler's kid ) just to make Link suffer, but I guess you could interpret "stopping majora" as what lets them move on.

Ah JK going completely mask off and shows his appreciation for the "original souls" formula. I remember lying in bed late at night playing this with my tv turned towards me during in my high school years, standing on the ranch's rooftop, eyes upon the moon on the third day... the eerie music of the final hours passing... waiting out the clock... having an existential moment... and then... playing the song of time 1 second before the end...

Not to "well akshually", but a little bit of "well akshually" is that the skeleton enemies in Ikana Graveyard aren't Stalfos. Stalfos are adult skeletons, the smaller ones that use claw attacks are Stalchildren. The only Stalfos in Majora's Mask are Igos du Ikana and his two guards. Stalchildren are horrifying with terrible implications. You fist see them in Ocarina of Time in Hyrule Field at night, specifically in the child time as the adult time has Poes instead.

equally, the "lizalfos" in the dungeons are actually "dinalfos", the adult equivalent in OoT. The mechanical difference is JUST the ability to breathe fire.

The reason goron link dropped the ball (or bomb i guess) is because of some strange collision with those particular bridges. Try throwing the keg in the future for extra distance. Also walking backwards is slightly faster than forwards when carrying it.

This is my favorite game! Just a little tip for the bosses, as soon as you get goron, his punches are stronger than links sword slashes, at least untill you get all the sword upgrades. ^^

Fun Fact: outside of the initial 2 guards, everything needed for the gibdo maze can be found somewhere in the dungeon itself. EVERYONE just uses the shopping list, but actually playing the dungeon to find everything is a fun challenge in itself.

The thing why the fight get srestarted when you get hit with teh Beam from Majora's Mask in Zora form is that Zora-Link is vulnerable to fire, so getting hit by a fire attack kinda kills you instantly, but instead of getting a game over it gets handled like when you "drown" as Deku or Goron, resetting you to the latest 'safe' spot. I found that out when I tried to do almost everything as Zora-Link and always got 'one-shoted' by the Garo-Masters Fire-Blades.

Here is a little bit of a fun fact: you don't actually need to follow Darmani all the way to the grave. You can simply Song of Soaring back to Mountain Village and climb up to meet him at the grave, as he will already be there. You will need the Lens of Truth to interact with him at the grave, which would already be recommended due to having to climb up the invisible pathway.

The reason you dropped the powder keg there is a known bug. From what I remember, the level geometry is a little messed up right there. It counts as a slope for a very tiny area, which puts you in a sliding animation to drop the keg, but it happens so fast you can't really see it, so it looks like you just drop it for no reason.

fun fact ! you dont actually need to buy back the item that the annoying bird takes from you. if youre willing to just rewind time for that cycle, your item will return to your inventory at the beginning of a new cycle :-)

Thanks for the tip! Might not always be practical if you’re deep into a run when it happens, but I’ve been playing since the game released back in 2000, when I was 14, and I never knew about this. I woulda been too scared to reset in case it didn’t come back, but good to know it can be done if it comes down to it and you don’t wanna go through the hassle. Also, save states if you’re playing on emu or NSO, are a lifesaver for stuff like that, as long as you remember to do them regularly. Happy gaming! 🎮

Fun fact: It's actually possible to do this without entering other dungeons first! (With glitches of course.) By doing a glitch called Index Warp, you can get the Zora mask and the Hookshot without Epona and warp straight to the top of Stone Tower, and a glitch called Time Stop to get into the temple without the Elegy of Emptiness. You can use a trick to clip through the sun block to the right of the temple entrance, and going through a few more rooms gets you the Light Arrows. You can't use the Light Arrows without the bow, however, a complex glitch called 0th Day- a combination of Mayor's Warp and Song of Time Storage- allows you to confuse the game into thinking Deku Link shoots Light Arrows instead of bubbles, so it only uses magic instead of magic and arrows. There are glitches to shoot the bow without the bow, but without arrows, the game crashes. Once the temple is flipped, you can use the same clip through the block and a recoil flip to make it to Eyegore, and defeating him gives you the Giant's Mask. By progressing to the boss door and skipping it with a recoil flip, you can make it to Twinmold and defeat them with the Giant's Mask. Getting to Great Bay Temple is simple enough, and once you're inside you can clip into the staircase and recoil flip straight into the boss fight. Gyorg goes down without much struggle. By using Index warp to get to Snowhead, you can play the Goron Lullaby to make Biggoron fall asleep. 0th Day is required to melt the ice surrounding Goht, but playing the Song of Soaring will disable the glitch, so you need to go to the Great Bay Fairy and Bomb Hover to the Snowhead Fairy, which exists in the same map. Once inside, you can use Bomb Hovering and Long Jumps to make your way to the Fire Arrows and through more of the temple until you get to the very top. Once you reach the top, you can jump down and do Song of Time Storage, which voids Link out and puts him back at the top, where you can skip the boss key by back walking as Goron Link into the icicles in front of the door, which pushes him the through the door without the boss key. Using 0th Day to shoot Fire Arrows as Deku Link allows you to melt Goht, but you can't fight him with Goron Link because 0th Day prevents you from opening your inventory or using the C buttons, but you can shoot Fire Arrows and the green jars give infinite magic, so you can wait for Goht to come around and shoot him when he does. And that's it! Woodfall Temple is completely unchanged since it's meant to be the first temple anyway, and once Odolwa is defeated, you can challenge Majora immediately, or help the people of Termina to get the Fierce Deity Mask. If you want to do this for yourself, I suggest playing on the Nintendo Switch Online re-release because suspend points help a lot with some of the harder tricks. I love how they change the cutscene at the end depending on how many giants you rescued, it is unfortunate that you do have to rescue them all in one run, but the fact that they had planned out you playing the song after only having one or two rescued or even none at all is pretty cool.

For twinmold on the 3DS: do NOT use cheats if your 3DS can use checkpoint. Having moon jump or all masks active made the boss fight literally last forever. I learned the hard way after an almost hour long boss fight, then trying again with no cheats on...

The Zora mask was always my favourite as a kid, I used to swim around the water making up my own stories of what character I was and what I needed to do lol I remember the very first time I ever got to stone tower temple too, the music made me tear up a little and I just sat with it playing for about an hour, I was weird like that at age 9 see 😂

I think there is a good overlap between fans of Souls and fans of Zelda (especially considering they share some core design aspects). I am one of them and Majora's Mask is probably my favorite of the old zelda games. I have not tried the new ones myself but they seem really good. I hope you can try a run for Tears of The Kingdom because it's building system is so cool and gives people a lot of room for creativity.
