Can You Beat Oblivion With Only Gifts & Rewards?

Some people have brought up that quest items shouldn't count as they are needed to progress. I understand that, and it is nice how many of you are dead set on finding loop holes for me to beat the run, but the fact is I have been using this same ruleset for all of the birthday runs. It was possible to beat Fallout 3 & New Vegas under these conditions. It would be kind of cheap to adjust the rules now just so I could say I beat Oblivion.

You rarely ever use the items in the couriers stash oftern saying that they are over powered. With that in mind “Can you beat fallout new vegas using only the courier's stash?” You can only use: * Armored Vault 13 jumpsuit * Lightweight leather armor * Lightweight metal armor * Tribal raiding armor * Weathered 10mm pistol * x50 10mm rounds * Sturdy caravan shotgun * x40 20 gauge shotgun shells * Mercenary's grenade rifle * x20 40mm grenades * Broad machete * Five bleak venoms * x10 throwing spears * Four weapon repair kits * Five stimpaks * Three super stimpaks * Three doctor's bags * Binoculars * Vault 13 canteen I would argue that the challenge in this is that you can not use any caps to repair and you can’t replace anything you use up.

Im seeing a melee-centric build. The thing that concerns me is that even though the Canteen can heal you, it heals automatically, and at intervals, so there isnt a good way to heal. Those Stims are a lifeline for that challenge, so getting medicine as high as possible will be necessary, to make best use of them. The Broad Machete being the only real weapon you'll get to keep for that run. The only saving grace is being able to drop weapons when you're out of ammo, and drop armor (which wouldnt be a major concern anyway, with having 4 different sets), but if you cant replace what you use up, cant use caps to repair, that means money is more-or-less worthless, and if you cant use anything that isnt from the stash, this run is very limited. I suppose however, it is possible. He DID beat the game without having EVER restored his health.

I just thought of something for the eventual Skyrim run. Since monetary rewards can only be used for services, it should be okay to get one of the hireling followers. You are literally paying for their service as warrior/bodyguard/loot carrying donkey. Also, since the title of Thane is a reward, and includes the guards looking the other way for a crime once, that one free crime could be considered part of the reward. So birthday Nerbit could be allowed to break the "only gifts and rewards" rule once per hold, considering it is part of a reward. But obviously only after he gained the title and only in a hold that he holds the title.

Happy birthday Nerbit. At 29:25 you said you couldn’t pick up a dead drop but that dead drop was meant for you and there for is a gift for you to pick up and read as you see fit. The tutorial forces you to do things in a linear drip fed fashion so I feel shouldn’t be a failure of the run in any way shape or form unless the tutorial is really super flexible and offers different paths that don’t railroad you into a action you can’t do to progress like picking up a key on a body that is for a locked door that is your only way to go. Plus I feel others are with me in saying the game doesn’t truly start til after the tutorial section ends. Picking up the sigil key though sadly did break the run.

Here is another interesting one: The Mythic Dawn door guard in Dagon's shrine that takes your equipment only takes what is in your inventory. So you could just drop your stuff on the ground, proceed the dialogue with him, and then pick the things back up. (Another option is bringing a follower, killing them, and using their body as container. Or having a bandit or a troll from the nearby camp follow you into the cave.) Oh, and from that point on during the remainder of that quest, the player is added to the Mythic Dawn faction. Which means you can hear your character shout out Mythic Dawn combat barks. And once you pick up the Mysterium Xarxes' their faction's disposition towards the player goes down and they will attack on sight. Even those that are disguised as ordinary citizens.

Fun run for NV: Can you beat NV as the Terminator? Rules: - Only use the M79 grenade launcher and minigun - The terminator is a robot afterall so try and use VATS more often (not required just more in character) - Either biker outfit or something resembling a robot as an outfit for the movie's sake - Do any kill contracts you come across for maximum termination Story (2 ways) - If you so choose, you can side with Mr. House for a "Skynet"ish playthrough as he is operating a bunch of robots through a computer. HOWEVER, if you do this, YOU MUST terminate EVERYONE that is against SKYNET(Mr. House) for total machine victory - OR pick a companion to take with you and you must protect them at all times (If they die the run fails). You must further the faction of your companion as much as possible since you are essentially the bodyguard of your companion (again, T2 story with John and the terminator protecting/serving under him with no questions asked). Who you pick is up to you but once you settle on a choice you are locked into that companion.

There's been an idea bouncing around in my head for a while, and I'm not sure how well it would work, especially for a video format, but I reckon I should suggest it anyway: "Can you beat Fallout New Vegas, as Yes Man" Instead of a gear restricted run, it would moreso be a decision restricted run. In essence, you must say yes to everything. You'd need to agree to anything someone asks of you, even if it contradicts something that the person right before asked from you. You can't lie to someone, can't ask questions, and can't suggest different courses of actions. Someone asks you to do something, and you have to say yes whenever possible, and carry out tasks to the letter as much as you can, until someone else asks you something, in which case you have to drop everything and do what they ask of you instead. When you finish that task, you'll be free to go back to completing the previous task, if that's still possible. This means that going on gambling breaks or shopping sprees will be almost impossible, unless someone asks the courier to do so.

I think that otherwise unpassable obstacles are fine to "cheat" on, since obviously the game sees things like keys as misc items, and if it expects the player to engage with that system then it should be more than okay to consider keys as part of the rules in these situations.

You could add a rule: borrowing items is ok as long as the item is returned as soon as possible, and you can't borrow equipment. That way you can borrow a key, then drop it where you found it, same for documents, and you can't borrow potions because once used, they can't be returned.

Hey Nerbit, Happy Birthday!!! I am a massive fan and have a humble video request: Can you beat Fallout___ as Tony Soprano? 6 rules: 1. Only realistic weapons may be used i.e ones potentially seen in the show(no lasers, nuke based, super sledges, power fists etc.) 2. Only mob attire may be worn(no armor or power armor) 3. must Eliminate all competition(kill all other mob/crime boss characters in the game for example: Fallout 4 this would be skinny Malone, Eddie winter, and marowski) 4. You have to launder all caps made(buying something at one shop to use to purchase something at another) 5. No loose ends (if possible must kill all characters you can once they are no longer of use to you) 6. Take your Prozac( Must be on at least one Charisma/ mood boosting chem per in game day) If there are any rules, you want to add or take away to fit the character better I’m all for it! Speaking of Fable challenges how about an inverse of your no exp run where you have to spend absolutely zero money and have to rely entirely on skill upgrades and just to make things fair restricted use for unique weapons like the bow of skorm. However the Harbinger is free to use considering you need to upgrade certain stats to grab it so it obviously makes sense to use Ps. You can even role play that ever since the protagonist spent 3 gold on the chocolate for his sister’s birthday he considers and any kind of financial transaction a curse and that’s why he doesn’t spend money

I love the logic that getting hit with countless arrows from NPCs is them gifting it to you lmao. Also I was wondering for a while in the beginning if you were gonna go pick up the weak fireball spell from the skingrad mages guild since it's given to you for free, at level 1 that spell is pretty much gonna kill anything in a couple shots.

That is actually a real legal question. If you get shot, can you keep the bullet or does the shooter get them back? In a way they deliberately abandoned their claim when they "gave" you the bullet.

Hey Nerbit got an idea for a fallout 4 run, “Can you beat fallout 4 with only power armour?” Rules - Must get power armour as soon as you’re out of vault 111. - No weapons, must use fists, pain train, or dropping on enemies to damage them. - Must keep power armour powered with a fusion core at all times. Also not mandatory but for another challenge you could always make sure to have a fully equipped power armour at all times too, love the videos man your new content is always a highlight of my day!!

Can you beat Skyrim as Pelinal Whitestrake reincarnated? Be an imperial or nord, use the crusader gear, side with the Empire and kill any elf (particularly any high elves) that have the misfortune to fall under your gaze, using little to no stealth as he was a zealous barbarian type. Do any quests that support humans and the Empire as a whole. Use your judgement if Whitestrake would do any of the stormcloak/blades quests but make sure that the Empire he helped defend from the filthy elves stays in power.

Would the College of Winterhold questline be done as well? You replace the Arch Mage (an elf) and the story line concludes with you slaying an elf. I think it works pretty well

Happy Birthday Nerbit. As a gift heres an idea for skyrim and oblivion. Can you beat Oblivion or skyrim using only a whip or chain whip. (Which is i am currently doing as of now) Mods needed Castlevania quest mod for skyrim on nexus and. Whip mod for oblivion which is floating somewhere on the internet. Rules. For oblivion You can only use the whip only. Hunt down every single vampires. For Skyrim. -complete the Castlevania quest mod first. To turn the leather whip to a chain whip and into the Vk whip. -hunt. Every single vampire in game. -complete dawn guard to finish the run.

And there's an extremely similar bug in Morrowind too! Repairing damaged bound gear can give you a permanent version that can't be repaired or dropped

The fallout series got me stoked enough to play through 3 and new Vegas but I couldn’t bear f4 for very long. I’ve never played oblivion. Guess that’s next!

I had a bit of a "so far. So good" moment in Skyrim recently. I was having a jolly good time in riften, got caught picking the stall locks. So I just ran, make it future me's problem. Run to Whiterun for that kill your first dragon quest so I can gather flowers, and misc ingredients along the way. One riften guard followed me without getting distracted or killed all the way to Whiterun, let me do all the talking up to meeting the dragon, and then he got confused and got stuck in the guard tower while I hid in there and waited for the guards to kill the dragon with "must have been the wind" "what was that?" "Must have been the wind" dude gets clipped by fire and bitches for a bit, then "must have been the wind. DUDE, there's literally a dragon right outside, it was not just the wind

Any weapon, clothes or armor he’s used in any movie or real life, quests that seem like he’d do, Yes Man ending, must always say yes, low iq (for dumb and dumber) no injections, or syringes, animal friend perk (ace ventura), and do Old World Blues (seems very Jim Carrey), allowed ED-E and Lily (seems Jim Carrey) or Raul. No lying (liar liar) and must use robots whenever possible (Eggman)
