surprisingly you can get a full team of Kanto pokemon before the 1st Gym in Sinnoh. Geodude, Zubat, Psyduck, Magikarp, Abra, Machop or Ponyta, and Onix are all available before Roark. So Maybe try Kanto pokemon in Platinum

I do this all the time but only Johto pokemon. The only exception to this is taking in Kanto Pokemon for the purpose of evolving into Johto Pokemon (Eevee into Espeon/Umbreon or Horsea into Kingdra)

Even i'm not a big fan of then gen 2 games (bar Crystal legacy) My favorite Pokemon from gen 2 (and one of my two signature Pokemon with Meowstic) is Ampharos.

I don't think using only Johto pokemon is too difficult, the difficult challenge is beating a Johto game with only pokemon from Johto, in fact, trying to find a single Johto pokemon that doesn't suck is hard

Is this even a Nuzlocke? I feel like I see more Kanto Pokémon in crystal than Johto Pokémon until you actually get to Kanto, like what was the point of getting Houndoom, Tediursura, Tiranatar etc after you beat all 8 gyms in Johto?
