I think it is fun that people treat them differently, but i agree that it is more interesting to see someone play the game instead of skipping 90% to avoid one single jump or something. My least favourite is people doing a ‘ No __ challenge’ and the first time they have to do said thing they announce it couldn’t be done and end the video and run.

I watched through your whole Spyro playlist! It's been such an interesting journey to watch you go on through the different iterations of classic Spyro. As others have said, I love your take on the challenge! Even if you don't achieve the initial objective, you still go as far as you can and evaluate the "minimums" and fun gltiches/speedrun strats. I respect that a lot and it's made these hour-long videos so enjoyable! 😁 My first Spyro games (not counting Enter the Dragonfly) were The Legend of Spyro trilogy. They're not perfect games, but I adore them to this day. 🧡 Before you decide to take them on, please consider whether you'd be open to a very different kind of game: they have some platforming elements and some basic puzzles, but they are very much action adventure beat-em ups with magic elements and dragons and dramatic storytelling (action RPG lite in some ways, IMO). I'd love to see you take them on if you do decide it's something you want to do, though it's understandable if you don't. My prediction (without spoilers) is that they will either not be beatable without glides or there will be VERY strange workarounds. Keep up the good work, NGPlus! 🥳 I look forward to Spyro Year of the Dragon ReIgnited!

To the "Do I have to play the Legend of Spyro Trilogy" comment at the end I say yes! Because you can't say you've challenge ran the entire catalogue of Spyro games unless you do the Legend of Spyro Trilogy. Besides the dialogue in the trilogy is about as cheesy as a B-Movie which in my opinion gives the trilogy a certain charm to it. Though I do still want to to squash Legend of Spyro Sparks all these years later and you will want to as well because he's easily one of if not the most annoying character in the trilogy.

To answer your question about the PS1 Ripto fight with the weird loading, you can actually damage Ripto in his 3rd phase by charging him, it would be longer and harder, but yes you could definitely do it without flying

Yeah the reignited trilogy is rather jank but i love it anyway. It gets a lot of flak these days for how glitchy it is. Personally i never encountered any bugs unless i was intentionally screwing around, and Spyro is a cozy game not a super serious one.

1:04:38 If you were thinking about a Legend of Spyro run, then how about an Classic themed run where you only use mechanics from the original games, so things like the charge, primary breath attack, dodge and glide. Or maybe an elemental attacks only run. With Dawn of the Dragon you could also keep the spirit of the Glideless runs going by not using free flight. Just suggestions of course. Maybe I'll dust off the old Ps2 and see if I can get some second hand copies and try those ideas myself, I've been wanting to get into the LoS series again anyway.

It's very cool to see all the things you can do with clever use of glitches. Unfortunately, I don't think anything which requires the use of a save file completed with gliding and flying should count. It may be a different save file, but you're still making use of gliding and flying in order to get more completion on the main file.

Yeah, I felt the same. Using glitches in the game I can just about agree with, but to use the permanent superflame powerup means having to legitimately complete the game once 100%, which clearly cannot be done without flying or gliding. So I'd say that shouldn't count, only what can be done on the first save-file.

Pretty sure you can defeat the breeze harbor spike ball thingies without the cannon by just super charging into them, since you can also do that with superflames, and super charges and flames usually break similar things. Giant steel beetle-spiders in spyro 1, those reinforced boxes usually meant for fireworks, etc...

Never knew you could ride the rockets or de-load certain assets! My mind was completely blown when I saw those things! Sadly,I don't think the Level Storage glitch works on Switch,I keep loading into the Home world far too late and can never hear the speedway load in after I go into the portal. I would love to be proven wrong,it just doesn't seem to work for me

Yeah, level storage relies on the console loading the homeworld and speedway fast enough so you can reach the retry screen before the cutscene ends. Ps4 can barely do it, Switch falls short by a wide margin.

I think i misunderstood a certain section you said about the nintendo switch version. Is the trick only possible on the nintendo switch version and not on other consoles? So you can get to to that bit on consoles then have to use the switch version, then switch back?

That trick is only possible on Switch, but since I didn't know this until I'd done half the challenge on PS4, I had to borrow footage of it. I grabbed the Breeze Harbour Talisman without collecting a single gem to simulate what's actually possible if the whole challenge were performed on Switch.
