Can You Beat the Pit of 100 Trials Without Mario?

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door expanded a lot on the partner mechanics from the first game- so much in fact, that partners can actually hold their own! Last time, I tackled the entire main story without using Mario in battle, and this time I wanted to try my hand at the Pit of 100 Trials and Bonetail using only Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, Yoshi, Vivian, Bobbery, and Ms Mowz!

Mario took 4 damage instead of 5 because of the P-Down D-Up badge, not the Defend command. That badge blocks piercing damage, and it's the only thing that does.

Floors 91-99 are notorious for having multiple Amazee Dayzees in a single fight, and yet you avoided not having to fight a single one. Lucky Day badge working magic in the background even not being equipped.

My head cannon for this and the prequal video is that paper Mario, (After the events of 64) was effected badly mentally (Maybe PTSD?) due to his near death at the start and facing Bowser the second time (The guy that nearly killed him after the first fight) Who mind you had the literal power of a god due to having stolen the star rod. After that adventure Mario began to fully develop the symptoms of whatever he had and the personality change along side that. In this adventure you see mario Heavily changed from his pre-64 personality to this new one where he is more scared then luigi who had become braver.

Thousand Year Door except healing is banned. You can only heal by leveling up and the occasional free cutscene heals in the game.

One Challenge i would love to see is mogul mario, basically youd need a mod that makes all your fp moves use coins instead. it would be busted if you go with a 1 to 1 conversion. but if you go with 1 to 2 or even 3 it could be a real challenge.

@@ParasocialCatgirl it stays as fp, dropped flowers and items still give you fp. but any non standart ability just costs coins, making fp essentially a decoration on the UI.

I love this game I remember when I was younger. My dad went out of his way to get a game cube and participate in a auction just to get this game for me. Because of that I love this game. Sadly I lost it so I was so sad but when I heard the remake, I was so happy I could play this game again take me back to my childhood. I’m also happy that there are spiritual successors like bug fables out there, but I can’t wait to come back to the thousand of your door and relive my childhood.

Love your content, the editing keeps improving heaps!! Flurrie as your only partner for infinite pit? Or an action commands only run, with multiple unsimplifiers and an all or nothing? Partners are unaffected by that, though. Maybe something like: mario&friends hate badges and items, and refuse to use either.

12:02 I think the reason why the game lagged so hard was because there's no normal instance where all enemies would have a status effect on them, which could be making the memory file struggle to remember the status of each individual enemy.

Even turn is actually a thing already, where you can only attack and guard/superguard on even turns and can only defend or appeal (and can't guard or superguard) on odd turns, it's a great one too!

Since you're really good at super guards, you should swap keybinds- I mean flip your controller- so that you are playing the game where the left side of the controller is being played with your right hand, and vice versa. No items, controller backwards!
