Thanks Chris, awesome video. I wonder if you could wire them both up at the same time, but put an in line switch to toggle one or the other on to make a quick switch without touching wires. And maybe you could use the dower from the govee to power the esp with a buck/boost converter to eliminate the extra power supply

That's what I've been thinking about doing. devices in my pc come with their onboard lighting effects, but with the press of a remote button or toggle in software progam they switch over to a 3rd party connection which is the motherboards lighting for most people. I'm not smart enought to do a remote switch just yet, but i'll probably find or make a physical switch. I've cut and saved too many controllers from all sorts of devices. Splicing in an esp32 with a switch of some sort is what i've thought everytime.

Hi Chris, Really enjoy your vids. Curious if you have any experience in Twinkly brand lights? I became heavily invested in them before knowing how limited their programming was. Being individually addressable RGB lights I’m sure they could be easily hacked to run with a more robust controller, similar to what you’ve done here with the Govee lights. Unfortunately, I have yet to find any vids about them and I am not knowledgeable enough about the subject to develop the hack myself. I would love to see what you could do to improve the Twinkly controlling options. Thanks for your time, hope to hear from you when you have time.

WLED has an option to SYNC built into the software, so you can set it so that one strip will copy the other. Cutting at the start of the lights is easy because they are already split into three distinct lines. Unfortunately, that requires that the connection point is outside of my house up under eave. Can the single wire coming immediately out of controller be cut & be stripped? I assume it has to has the power, data, and neutral lines inside but, if there is no way to identify which is which, I would be SOL. My Govee lights are already installed with the cable run from power supply to controller in garage then extended single wire thru a wall then up under eave to the actual LEDs using screw connection. I wish I could attach a photo as my question would be much easier to explain.
