10:42 - "The only downside ... that the polygrid doesn't save the generated values" Yep and I really hope people are requesting this feature. It would be really great if I could build random generators and then save the devices as presets. I think you mentioned this in one of your previous videos as well.

u should be able to just save the diced settings as a preset of the instrument ? if u want to use the diced setting on other intruments it wouldnt work oc

4 years later do you still believe you can't save these presets ?

This is totally cool. It's a very bitwig way to do what Tom Hades teaches in some of his master-class videos. He uses discrete sequencer devices to make polyrhythms for his percussion loops, but this seems, as is usually the case with bitwig, more versatile and fun. Thanks!

Nice! I was looking to see how Bitwig native devices could compare to a vst like Playbeat, this is great

Also, try using the dice (random) modulator with the note delay device (set to 1/16) to get some very nice random swing (you modulate the offset parameter with the random modulator). I've used that to great benefit. You can then add a dice modulator to the pitch to get some additional kind of swing. I've used this with the sampler "speed" parameter, but there are many options to try. It works really well. The drum machine preset TECH-HOUSE KIT 2 (and I'm sure other kits too) has some percussion sounds set up perfectly with device chains (containing distortion, delay, etc ready for random modulating) that gives nice results when you add dice modulators to various parameters.... I don't bother to bounce to audio with this technique; is gives the same results every time (very nice).

Thanks for the tips. I tried something similar but without the Grid, and your way is much more intuitive. Keep it coming.
@PolarityMusic4 жыл бұрын
Yea you can also utilize the random modulators and do the same without the grid. It's a bit different but kind of the same outcome.

I thought "Trigger" should be more intuitive to toggle a set of new generated values (so we don't have to click twice). But then I found out that Trigger cannot be modulated by "Button". I guess Bitwig should make a toggle type modulator in addition to now only latch, or maybe have an option to make a Button behave like toggle.

Hey. You are a German music producer right? Do you know what hardware and music software were used by the German music producers Eurodance, Happy Hardcore, Rave etc in the 90s? I am looking for techniques to recreate Eurodance sounds, (leads, synths) especially from the years 1992-1996.

I highly recommend making it yourself. He has showed you how, so it should be very easy, and more importantly you will learn how to do it and possibly inspire you to develop it further with your own personal modifications.

I was asking to myself if there is a way to put the dices directly into the device and to sync them without using the Grid. Is there a way to do this or the Grid is the only solution ?

Hey Polarity, would it be possible to use midi notes to allow you to sequence the pressing of the "generate" button?

ok, ok, I just replaced the button with a gate module and now I can trigger the generation of new tom sounds in time with the music via midi notes.
