Epic job on that body, looks incredible, especially with those bronze/gold-ish wheels. The chassis is laid out that way because of the fact that its FWD. They put as much weight on front end as possible. If you took a normal RC and just eliminated the rear drive shaft and ran one to the front, it would barely drive at all.

If we work on the principle of these rc cars are just smaller versions of their bigger brothers then yeah in theory this front wheel drive car should be able to drift…but just like the 1:1 scale, it’s much harder to drift front wheel drive compared to rear wheel drive and 4wd ….mainly because as you’ve pointed out the front wheels are doing both the steering and the drive. That said, just like in real life the surface has lot to do with drifting which is why one sees front wheel drive cars drift around corners on rally stages and as shown in your clip, snow/ice conditions. Great little project for sure…and a front wheel drive Mazda mx5 is not something I’ve seen in real life let alone in 1/10scale lol Awesome job 👏👏👏👍🤟😎

Lock the diff and drive on a less slippery surface, with soft fronts and drift rears (not plastic) (: Body looks great!

I'd bet a M-06 chassis will fit the Miata body. It's rear wheel drive, same wheelbase. I don't know if the width is the same, but it must be really close.
@norsefalconer2 жыл бұрын
@Steve Vento Agreed. There is a club race class for the M-05, so maybe that was the reasoning. Who knows?
@10thScaleGarage2 жыл бұрын
With enough chopping, anything can "fit"
@michaobara75342 жыл бұрын
Hi guys! This Miata looks great! Though, I wonder what was the aim of Tamiya of doing front wheel drive model of a car with rear wheel drive... Not very scale ;). I know most of Tamiyas were 4WD so far even for cars with 2WD. but when doing a model with just one axle driven it would make sense to keep the original drive. For the sake of scale. Nethertheless, car looks awesome. Great job!

drift tires are not so good for the carts because the weight is very low. no grip and hardly possible to steer. The best thing is to use worn tires, it's really fun.
