The EZ30 has landed! You may aswell also check your cam bucket/shim clearances when you do the rocker cover gaskets to ensure its still in spec while you are there.

Hello mate, thanks for the lovely video. Unlike you, I have no experience in doing any work on cars or engines but I am interested in ez30 engines and I was looking into buying a manual 3.0 R legacy spec B estate. It would be good to know if there is any support available in the Uk for future reference. Would you happen to know a good engine rebuilder or a garage who can be trusted with these engines? Maybe someone who can replace those gaskets, tensioners and pumps you’ve mentioned for peace of mind and fit the headers etc. These engines appear to have a lot of following and aftermarket support in Australia and New Zealand but I’m not sure about the situation in regards to Britain. Hi there. Roughly where about are you located? If you can find a manual Legacy H6 Wagon then it should be a worthwhile investment as most of them were automatic. But I’d recommend trying out an Automatic first as its arguably the better/more fun to drive car and thats why so many people bought their Legacy with the flappy paddle auto. And it will be so much easier/cheaper to buy and maintain.

Hello again. I really appreciate your quick reply. I’m based in London but don’t mind traveling to get the best vehicle. This would hopefully be a long term investment as I intend to keep the car for weekend drives and long family trips to Scotland etc. It would be good to drive a flat six engine until the future regulations make it more and more difficult. Thanks for your advice on the automatic version but I currently drive a manual Forester xt and can’t see myself getting into an automatic vehicle so the search goes on. I already have a good relationship with my local Subaru dealer but they only work with original parts and are not up for making exhaust modifications etc. So I wondered if there are other expert shops who can work on these engines if that ever becomes necessary or for peace of mind (depending on the mileage and the condition of the vehicle). So I wanted to get an idea as to how feasible that would be before I take the plunge. I understand it is better to get the engine out to change the tensioners, pumps and gaskets so it is not a small job by any means.

I’d recommend Amber Performance in Luton - they’d be perfect for modifying/servicing the vehicle. Bit of a distance for you (it is for me also) but great guys doing great work!

You might be lacking some power but if you want to fix it do ethere a super charger or go biult high competition. I would rather do the high competition if it was me for reliable reasons

High competition? Did you mean high compression? I’ll definitely keep it NA. We already have a supercharged 86 in the fleet, so will persevere with NA on this one. Should be pretty cool :)

@leedfollow if you do high compression I think I'll be more reliable than the 36 but still have the torque and hp and hopefully get to about 280whp

Unfortunately until I’ve completed the swap I wouldn’t be able to tell you how easy it is exactly but in theory its a very straightforward swap.
