I love movies that don't shove information down the audience's throat and gives you enough crumbs and throwaway lines to put it together. Like, they never explicitly say that Finn also has powers from his mom, but after the scene with the dad beating Gwen he looks at Finn and says "That goes for you too," which implies Finn has a gift as well. Also, the dad yells that Gwen doesn't see things and doesn't HEAR things like their mother...Gwen for the most part only sees things, and she seems to only hear things when it's connected to Finn (i.e. the scene in the cop car with Vance Hopper). And Finn can predominately only hear the ghosts, not see them. So they each got one part of their mother's gift. Another part I enjoyed was that Gwen isn't exactly clairvoyant...she seems to be more of a medium connecting to the dead kids. She found the house where their bodies were, and when she sees Finn screaming through the door it's from an outsider's perspective, like someone across the street. Also, there were several references to famous serial killers of the 70s and 80s...Bundy's ruses to kidnap victims, dressing up like a magician like Gacy, Dahmer's victim escaping and being dragged back to captivity. I even think that the dog Samson is a reference to David Berkowitz, or the Son of Sam killer. This movie is just really clever and such a pleasant surprise.

After his impressive acting debut in 'The Black Phone', Mason Thames(Finney) got the attention of many directors and landed himself in 3 new upcoming movies. He's going to be in a Netflix teen movie called 'Incoming' about four Freshman boys that experience their first high school party. It releases on Netflix the 23rd of next month. Then he's got another movie coming out in the theaters this October, called 'Monster Summer' about kids mysteriously going missing and a boy(Mason) and a detective(Mel Gibson) do some detective work to find out why. Both movie trailers are released here on KZbin to check out. Mason then just finished filming the live-action version of the movie 'How To Train Your Dragon' where he plays the lead character Hiccup. That will be released next year in July. And there is also a sequel in the works for 'The Black Phone' and Mason will reprise his role as Finney. I'm glad to see Mason getting so much work after his amazing acting debut performance in 'The Black Phone'. He deserves much success and so does the very talented Madeleine McGraw, who played Finney's sister Gwen. Such talented kids.

@@ryanpelletier5208 I like when good horror movies stay as stand alone projects. All the sequels in this era were just cash grabs that failed to make money. Don’t Breath 2, the Quiet Place movies, the new Halloween movies, the upcoming Smile 2 really feel unnecessary. When they make The Black Phone 2 they should really focus on the supernatural abilities of the siblings and set it in the 80s but they should definitely have a well written story and fleshed out characters. Horror sequels usually suck ass but it really depends on the writers and director.

I saw this in theater and giiiiirl...my best friend and I sat through the credits (and then some) in *stunned* silence 😶😳🤯 then once we started gushing about how much we loved it, we couldn't stop! 😂😂😍 We both STILL say it's one of our favorite movies ever!

Children! Mother is feeding us!👑 I was waiting for your reaction on this movie and it was worth it!❤ this movie is so good, I love it so much! Thank you so much for watching! ☺️Ethan Hawk is absolutely disturbing in this movie, and it’s one of the best horror movies that I’ve seen in a while👍👏

I love this movie so much! Refreshing, original, brilliant actors, I could go on. Blumhouse + Ethan Hawk = cinema gold! Sinister and it's sequel are good too but warning it's very dark and creepy.

Not sure if you see any of these comments but I loved this movie despite what some say about it. Yes it moves slowly but that is to get a better understanding of the characters and to get us to care about them as well. Ethan Halk as the killer was amazing and unexpected as well and the way they use ghosts here is just so well done in my opinion. The actress of the main part's sister is actually the big sister of the actress of the little girl Cady in the M3gan movie which is interesting because they do both look a bit alike. Grate reaction as always and glad you did this one.

@@AlandaParker I don't understand it either because to me it was so well done and the tension is fully there. It's a supernatural thiller and I like that about it.

I need to see the kid that acted Robin in more movies! He barely had any scenes but I was so emotionally invested in him and cried at the end when he helped Finn with those fighting moves😭 All these kids are great actors but he might be overlooked.

The way I SCREECHED when I saw this video pop up!! This movie is one of my favorites and I just KNEW you would fall for those sweet kids and cry for them just like I did. I love your heart for child characters and I’m happy you enjoyed the movie! Also, I definitely wouldn’t doubt your clairvoyance. I often wonder about myself too. Can’t wait for the next video! ❤❤❤

Our girl is BACK. I've actually never seen this movie, but I have no quirles of watching it with you because I'm just excited about you posting a double feature because I. Love. Your. Reactions. You're so transparent and dedicated. There is a suggestion, although I'm not sure if you've seen it before. The documentary Dominion. It is a two hour film, but I do suggest you watch the trailer if you come to the decision to view it. It's the darkest movie you'll ever see, but it's so insightful.

Speaking of sinister, the guy who plays the grabber (Ethan hawke) is the main guy 😭😭 ALSO the brother plays a cop in Sinister. It’s also regarded as the “scariest movie ever” so good luck😭😭

I first watched this film with another KZbinr and when i tell you a movie has not made me cry, laugh or scream like this one in so long! Like you said THIS IS TRUE CINEMA!! all the little pieces just fit together so perfectly! I just wished my baby Robin would have lived but he lived through my boy Finn! I was too ecstatic to see your reaction to this after your hiatus cause I knew you would love it.. IDK i didn't hear more buzz about it before like i saw that creepy ass poster but nothing about the film itself, i wanna find the short story this is based off and i gotta add this to my collection bc it's just so damn good! Can't wait to see the next upload ❤

Also, from what I've seen, a sequel is in the works for this film and all I know is that it will have most of the cast returning including Mason, Madelenie, and Hawke. I have no idea what the story could be since the antagonist died, but I guess since the kid's ghosts could physically interact with the real world, I guess the same could be true for The Grabber/Hawke. I just hope that the father changes his ways and that Fin gets to be with the girl he likes because that boy deserves a better life 😭😭 Him and Gwen

It’s a prequel. And that was one of my and other peoples thing. I don’t think the grabber should’ve died lol and the way that he did was kinda odd since he seemed VERY SMART. The prequel will be about his background and upcoming and what led him to doing what he did yk his reasoning and motive for killing those kids and probably will have each kids physical appearance (since they were a ghost in the 1st one) and them showing how he killed them and eventually got away with it for so long.
@gamingcinema88364 ай бұрын
@@Papellxhase Well, he was pretty hard to escape from since Fin needed the help from all the others who died in the past just to kill him and escape, so I wouldn't say it was too easy. Anyway, for me, I liked the satisfaction we got from him finally being killed after killing all the other boys and them giving him their last words. I understand how killing him limits what they could do with sequels, but it worked for the film by itself.
@Papellxhase4 ай бұрын
@@gamingcinema8836 if it’s a 3rd installment then yeah it’ll be weird but the 2nd will be a prequel which is totally fine. It’s a sequel but basically a pre sequel which is basically a first installment which the first movie becoming the 2nd movie. So I can’t wait to watch the 2nd movie( prequel) and then rewatch part 1 which will beascislly be the sequel if u get wat im saying
@gamingcinema88364 ай бұрын
@@Papellxhase Dude, I've been looking some stuff up, and where did you get the information that it was definitely going to be a prequel because everything I've found just says that it could possibly be a prequel.
@Papellxhase4 ай бұрын
@@gamingcinema8836 u can look it up it says it’s a direct sequel prequel meaning a next movie to it but it’s a prequel. The grabber died in the black phone and it’s so many answers to y and how and what he did yk and it would be dumb to retrack on all of that and bypass that to a next movie where he relives and hunts other kids. They are definitely doing a prequel just look it up lol which is the best choice

Fun fact the director kept having to tell mason the actor of finney to stop smiling during scenes with the grabber cause he would look at Ethan the actor who plays the grabber and he would start smiling not realizing he’s on camera
