I bet you have a song that you have heard many times but you can't play it. If you are really interested that song, then you can transcribe by ear like this. Let me show you how I hear things and how I translate with my fretboard theory knowledge so I can play those sound. This technique is so much fun to do so that you can learn any songs that you are interesting. No need any tabs or no need any KZbin guitar lessons! What do you think?

It’s amazing how you can form every chord, triad, inversion etc. in an instant and also know what it is as you’re playjng it. If I have already learned the song, I can unconsciously switch chords without thinking, but improvising like you’re doing is on a whole different level. My brain doesn’t connect to my fingers that quickly 😂. But it’s like you said, don’t compare and don’t expect too fast. Awesome playjng Tomo! 🙏🏼 🎸🎼👌🏼

Thank you! Honesty there are not so many chords! I don't know so many chords but I know triads so well! And R 3 7 / R 7 3... etc. So once you have a solid foundation then you can do just like this. I guess most people are so used to google or look up KZbin song lessons so they don't use their own ear's ability. You can do this! You should join my Guitar Wisdom which is more educational not entertainment.

This is great Tomo! I was playing along with you and it reminded me of the early 90s when I played in a reception band - this was very typical of the instrumental songs we played at the time. Wow, what a flashback! Thanks for sharing this. Awesome....

I use the theme as an intro piece to another song. I play the theme in Em using the chords Em, Am, and D7 as the resolutions and intro into 'Those Were The Days', also in Em.

Reminds me of a song from the anime Bleach called Going Home, same style of hand picking and similar melodies in certain parts. I've been really trying to get better at learning by ear and I've gotten to the point where I can do one note melodies pretty easily (a lot of solos pretty much) but chords and harmonics are still a big struggle, just gotta keep practicing!

I can do melody single notes to match. But I might be remembering it from the violin days. LOL But triads and chords? That's a tough animal. Nice grabbing that high C on the Am. Nice Demo Tomosan. Thank You. I mapped out James Bond theme this way. One note at a time.

I didn’t recognize the song at first but it sounds amazing on that guitar! I haven’t watched the god father in 30 years. I have to get my right hand up to speed now. I’ve been listening to Tom waits the early years volume one and he does all or mostly finger picking you’d never know it’s Tom waits. I haven’t stopped playing amazing grace since your video. You should do more of these you pick good songs. I have to go back into guitar wisdom check out anything to do with the right hand.

@@TomoFujitaMusic why actually i'm asking. I have some troubles with impro over standards. I know all theoretical stuff about enclosures, alterations and substitutions, but with lack of practice. So I plan to practice all these elements over this bossa nova song throughout the half year, only one song all the time - starting from the comping. I hope it will help me finally to make progress with jazz standards.
