ITX should've always been the budget range. At some point we started considered small sizes as a selling point - which doesn't really apply to these, since mini PCs and laptops exist

I built mine in 2022 with a combo of used and new parts. I got a inwin B1 case with a 300w gold PSU included for $130, a asrock B450 mitx am4 board for $130 and a ryzen 5 2400ge for $40 with a stock ryzen wraith cooler for $8, $25 for a 480gb ssd and $42 for 16gb corsair DDR3 3200mhz. Runs all the games I like to play without an issue and thanks to the 35watt TDP on the CPU it's really quiet. $375 and it's been great as my HTPC/ game console and the inwin B1 looks great with my tv stand.

Funny story, if you pause the video at 3:10, I'm the one who one the bid on that h170i. It was delayed in the mail for over 2 months, so the seller gave me a refund. Not more than a few days later, it showed up in my mailbox. What a trip to see it in this video! Currently using it for Hackintosh/Windows 10 dual boot. Was gonna sell it but no way now!!! haha

I recently built a new PC in a TT Core V1. It's larger than your average ITX case, but as budget friendly as you can get. It's got a Z690 MB, i3 12100F, RX6600 and a 650 W PSU for under $800. I am very happy with it.

My problem with ITX is the cases are typically too expensive for what you're getting, while also typically being horribly inefficient in their layout. Nicer, boutique cases by people who actually know what they're doing can be quite pricey.
@BudgetBin
@BudgetBin Жыл бұрын
I feel like the case I got and designs similar to them can be technically less than $50 and more so around $30 all things considered, but the demand is just not there for these cases. If a company could do them just cheap enough using a different material along with an aluminum frame, I feel like the could be popular purely based on price.
@theinktician

And this is why they should be at the bottom of the pricing chart.

Very nice and well made video! I believe it depicts the exact problems of building a budget friendly ITX PC. Due to the lack of space and the requirement to be a bit frequently away from home, I was also thinking about making an ITX gaming PC. Though I found a bargain (

Glad you liked it! And that was something I wanted touch up on more in the video (but obviously this is twice as long as my regular videos so that wasn't going to happen,) anyone is probably better off being patient and waiting for the moment to get a decent deal and building on it. Even M-ATX has a lot to offer but not too little to where you can't afford anything at all. I hope to talk more about this in a future video.

This is the video I needed to see before I bought an ITX case. I quit my build when I saw the flex-atx prices. Itx is not good as a person's only computer. It's more pricey and if you use it too hard you will be paying again when buying replacement parts. Cost of ownership will be bad in the long run. Very good as a second hobby computer. Maybe it can teach modesty, because with itx you can't have it all.

The case in the video seems to be on the small side of ITX cases. There are cases that, while still compact and designed for ITX, actually have reasonable room and are easier to build in. NR200 and SG13 are two such cases. They are also from name brands and are not very expensive. The infamous NZXT H1 case is actually great to build in, now that the dangerous riser is replaced. The unit came with a good 650w SFX PSU and 140mm AIO cooler. I bought a couple from eBay for $150 2 yrs ago when a ton of them were being dumped due to the notoriety. Getting an unpopular component is a way to save some money of the problem causing the unpopularity is actually solved.

ITX is always a pain in the ass, it’s the universal rule that you have to accept. Also you should never trust a manufactures rating for TDP. Especially since not even the chips have accurate TDP ratings. For example AMD doesn’t even use power in their “Thermal Design Power” calculations

i think it was possible for your budget to go the deskmeet x300 route with a ryzen 3 cpu it would have been almost the same price if not cheaper with new deskmeet x300 and a new ryzen 3 cpu if you could find one where you are at... there are a lot of those ryzen 3 in my country and they are dirt cheap like less than 60 usd a pop and you can get them second hand for even cheaper price than that... and the deskmeet x300 comes with a 500w psu for like less than 200 bucks with wifi since all non wifi version is kind of hard to find here in this country... and it would have cost less than 150 bucks here for the non wifi version... its 8L and can fit in a backpack as well... slightly bigger but it comes with the benefit of being able to use regular PSU and a 210.9mm GPU if you are willing to fiddle with the GPU to fit it in... and 4 RAM slots... so the options to use up to 4060ti/3060ti or 6600xt/7600xt becomes possible... as for the PSU being 6 pin instead of 8pins... a lot of people had done mods to daisy chain 2 other ground pins to make the last 2 pins... in fact some reputable PSU manufacturers also do so as well... so all you had to do was get a donor PSU with the extra 2 pins and cut out the cables and the male connectors and jump/splice 2 of the ground pins from the flex PSU that does not have the 8 pin... i mean if you went all the way like that with the GPU might as well go full mod at home vibe with the whole thing....

Silverstone SG13+Ryzen 3600+RX580 8G+16G DDR4. Then any ITX motherboard and 500W PSU you can find at the cheapest used price you can get. Bluetooth and Wifi USB dongles. I built that PC in 2024 all with used parts for around 350€. Currently running as my main Steam box/HTPC in my living room. Running even recent games at 1080p. Based on YT, it should run The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 in 1080p at (or very close to) 60fps. As you said, MB and PSU are what are killing the price. Next upgrade for me, RX6600 coming in for 100€ as a replacement for the RX580. Should get 60fps in 1080p in all games easily. Sapphire"s RX580 and RX6600 are both smaller than 22cm in length. Ryzen3600+RX580 if you're on the cheap. Ryzen3600+RX6600 if you want good performance. Then everything else as cheap as you can. Best value combos I found after hours of research.

@@BudgetBin I appreciate the honesty but I think you're missing out on a little something even if it only pays for a coffee or something, this kind of content sincerely deserves a minimum of remuneration and if the links you put in are at the lowest prices you can find there's nothing dishonest about it! in any case thanks for all the info I loved the video it's a nice change from 99% of test or 'montage' videos with no real research! and I don't want to force you, but consider the aliexpress affiliation, it takes 2 minutes to join and the link to the case or the wifi antenna or other aliexpress products in other videos would do you good, it's probably the most transparent and best service, I say that because I've been working with it for 3/4 months (see my bio) few people use it and its great to tell people real prices (since you can get some cheap and real 7800x3d and other part from there) I guess no report but over the last hour I've been gradually stumbling across the Ryzen 7 8845hs and various mini PCs with this beast inside, a 6500XT looks to be 35% more powerful than the igpu 780M but I came across the gmktec k8 at $550 for 32gb 1to and its even smaller formfactor, I think I'm going to give up on the idea of building a sff aha

@@Uomodargilla I will reconsider. I really appreciate you caring about just a random content creator like me. I'm currently considering rebuilding my older PC with a Xeon E3-1240V3 since I'm aiming to downsize and I think ITX may be an option for me. Budgeting would probably be like this: the Xeon E3 1240V3 (got this for ~39 USD) ~17 USD for 16gb DDR3 1600mhz ~27 USD for an ITX H81 motherboard ~20 USD for a cheap ITX case that supports SFX power supplies ~47 USD for an RX 550 low profile (already got a 240gb ssd and SFX psu) So that would be about 111 more USD for the build. The RX 550 could be substituted with a GT1030 for me but those are twice as expensive and have very few used options in my area. Alternatively there's the option of getting an Optiplex 7060 Micto that has an i5 8500T, 16gb DDR4, 240gb M.2 SSD for about ~156 USD. What do you think?
@abunk8691
@abunk8691 11 ай бұрын
I technically could reuse the ram from its current build but I think I'll try to flip the rig it came from which is my old pc that got upgraded. That has an i3 4170, 10gb DDR3, H81 motherboard inside a mATX case. The Xeon won't work as I need a dedicated a GPU for it since it has no iGPU and I used to have one (RX 560) but had to sell it off.
@abunk8691
@abunk8691 7 ай бұрын
This plan got abandoned as I sold off my Xeon E3 PC. The Optiplex 7060 Micro would likely be what I would go for since I found some of that for around 150 USD±10USD.

@BudgetBin

So, as far as I can tell and remember you can adjust the riser, but not the standoffs. It gave some wiggle room so depending on the setup you could accommodate for cables or shrouds into the build.
