New 3D Case Printing Improvement Update: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pn_chnmBi7StnLM

Finally, you have fixed the problem on the Lenovo M920Q, where the CPU power is limited to around 5W when a GPU card is installed. I found this issue discussed in many forums and noticed that several KZbin channels struggled with it. I watched a few videos about installing a GPU on this tiny PC, and their CPUs were running at around 5W, resulting in game performance of only about 30fps. Well done, dude!

@itggear2 ай бұрын
The Dell Optiplex 7050 SFF (Small Form Factor) has a PCIe x16 slot, but it’s positioned quite close to the power supply unit (PSU). If you’re planning to install a GPU, consider using the available PCIe x4 slot instead. However, keep in mind that the Dell SFF chassis doesn’t provide ample room for airflow, especially for dual-slot GPUs. If you go ahead and install a dual-slot GPU, it might run too hot, resulting in increased noise and potential throttling of GPU performance. To play it safe, I recommend opting for a single-slot, low-profile GPU for your PC.

@itggear2 ай бұрын
Lenovo M920q/M720q do not support GPU cards or 65W CPUs by default. However, the Lenovo M920x and P330 Tiny (from the same series) can support 65W CPUs and 50W GPUs when paired with a 35W CPU. When a graphics card is installed in the Lenovo M920q’s PCIe slot, the BIOS limits the CPU power to around 5W, causing the PC to run very slowly. Therefore, I believe that installing an RTX 4060, which has a 115W TDP, would not be supported by the Lenovo M920q motherboard. This is because the motherboard cannot handle the power requirements for that GPU, as the CPU and GPU do not draw power directly from the AC adapter. Instead, the motherboard converts 20V DC to 12V, which limits its capabilities. Thank you

@itggear2 ай бұрын
The AMD Radeon RX 6400 and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 have some key differences. The RX 6400 has a faster GPU clock speed and lower power consumption, making it more efficient. However, the RTX 3050 offers significantly better performance with higher floating-point operations, more VRAM, and support for DLSS, which enhances gaming visuals and performance. If you’re looking for better gaming performance and features, the RTX 3050 is the superior choice.

Thanks, I'll give it a try! I did something similar a few months ago, but I did go another route - I wanted to have as much cpu and Gpu power as possible (while still being reasonable). I'm using a m720q with the i7 9700T, 32gb of memory and an (somewhat) external RX6700XT which is being fed by an external power supply. I put the whole setup in a hifi case from a broken onkyo AV receiver unit. I had to deal with massive cpu throttling and saw pretty bad cpu Temps with the stock cooler, so I designed and 3D printed a bracket so I can fit a 120mm AIO water cooler on the cpu, but the system still suffers from major throttling, even though the Temps are perfect (around 55ish deg C under load) and the Gpu is powered externally. Maybe this will help my throttling issues!

Been having a bit of an issue with my almkst identical setup. I'm running a P330 Tiny and a 3050 6GB single-slot card with 32gb of ram and a 230W power brick. It can sit in a full stress test for quite a while and be completely fine, and then in games it just decides tk shut down after a while. I suspect this is an overheating issue, but I would think that would be exposed by the stress test as well.
@itggear26 күн бұрын
Because when you run a GPU stress test, the PC only fully loads the GPU, and the CPU is not fully utilized. This is unlike playing a game where both the CPU and GPU are under heavy load at the same time. Try setting the GPU power limit to 80% using MSI Afterburner. In my experience, setting the power limit to 80% for a 70W GPU results in it running around 50W to 60W, with only a 2-3 FPS reduction in-game. Thank you.

The PCIe slot on the Lenovo M920q/M720q/P330 Tiny is not a standard PCIe slot. If you’re considering purchasing a compact Lenovo PC, I recommend opting for either the Lenovo M920X or the Lenovo P330 Tiny instead of the Lenovo M920q or Lenovo M720q. Here’s why: both the Lenovo M920X and the Lenovo P330 Tiny come with built-in support for 65W CPUs and graphics cards. That means you won’t need to tinker with anything-they’ll work right out of the box. all these model has physical the same. Thank you.

Is possible to put a normal i7 8700 (without T) in this PC if change cooler with something low profile?
@itggearАй бұрын
For Lenovo M920q and M720q, they do not support 65W CPUs. We cannot install any other CPU cooler because they use a 3-screw mounting hole, unlike a standard CPU cooler that uses a 4-screw mounting hole following the LGA CPU socket standard. Thank you.

@@itggearI want to create a plastic CPU bracket with a 3-hole mount using a 3D printer. This bracket will serve as an adapter to mount a 65W CPU coolers. thank you

I know you got this specific model of Lenovo because it is dirty cheap, but it would be nice to see the performance on an 11th gen or newer tiny PC with the same GPU.

Currently, I am working on the Lenovo M90q, which is powered by an Intel Core i5-10500T and an RTX A2000 12GB or RTX 3050 LP. It might not meet your requirements exactly, but it's close. An RX6400 will fit on the original case also right?
@itggear2 ай бұрын
Yes, but the gap between the GPU and top cover is only about 2mm, so due to the lack of airflow, it will not be usable.

II put together this config with a2000 gpu, 135w power supply, I setup the PT, but as soon as i start a game, it turns off.

I faced similar issues using an unreliable 230W power adapter that I got from China, which caused unexpected shutdowns. After switching to a new 300W AC adapter, my PC has been running stable with no more unexpected shutdowns. You might want to consider upgrading to a higher wattage power supply for better performance.

Awesome Video but I'd use something other then paper, Kapton Tape is the best option IMO, put it on the back of the card.

Would I have to run ThrottleStop every time I turn on the PC?
@itggear2 ай бұрын
es, however, if you don't have one yet and would like to try it, I would recommend buying a Lenovo M920x or Lenovo P330 Tiny. These tiny PCs come from the same series and are similarly priced, but they support a 65W CPU and a 50W GPU right out of the box

Could you put the 4060 lp instead or would it be to big
@itggear2 ай бұрын
I think it can, but we need an extra power supply board to support it. Please keep in mind that the Lenovo M920q has a board power limit of 135W. Also, we cannot use power directly from the power supply since it’s 20V DC.
