"Bad genetics" is often subjective, A person can have great muscle building genetics, but be genetically predisposed to all sorts of health problems at a young age. I wouldn't say that person has great genetics because having a heart defect, (like Arnold Schwarzenegger had which he needed multiple surgeries for) or getting stage 4 cancer when you are 35, is a lot worse than not being able to build muscle as easily or fast as someone else. A lot of the time what we call "bad genetics" is nothing more than a subjective arbitrary opinion. Oh, I'm short, therefore my genetics are bad, Oh, I'm skinny, therefore my genetics are bad. and If someone does have bad genetics what are you suppose to tell them? "Your genetics suck so don't even try to build muscle" (which is what someone said to me when I first started lifting and only weighed 135lbs, I can now bench more than this person now) LOL yeah because someone with that kind of mentality is going to get really far in life aren't they? It's hard, therefore just give up. is bascially all they are saying. Imagine if we applied that mentality to everything else in our life not just body building. We wouldn't succeed at anything in life. It is just an excuse and nothing more. Do the best you can with what you've got.

This is a great point, the first several months of working out were exactly that, finding out what works for my body. Once you’re in the 3-5 year mark you’ll look different regardless of genetics. Plus you scan sculpt and focus on any part of your body too, if you’re shoulders aren’t in proportion to your arms you know where to focus. One big mistake a lot of kids and people I see making is not having a base, by that I mean not focusing on the lower body workouts.

I've always been tall and skinny. Challenging to build muscle but it is not impossible. I like the challenge.

I have a great ability to pack on muscle but also a propensity to gain fat super easy. My muscle structure sucks though...long biceps so little to no peak. Weak inner chest. Bad lat development. So bodybuilding certainly wouldn't have worked well for me in all likelihood.

I think peoples questions are directed towards people like Mark Lobliner from Tiger fitness who works out so much but doesn’t have amazing arms, or huge bodybuilders with small calves.. there is week points and I personally don’t think we can over that specific type of bad genetics.

Disagree, been working out for 2 years, count calories, take notes every session to make sure I’m progressively overloading and I look barely any different from when I started, and I mean you have to look really hard to see the differences. Some people just don’t have it and that’s fine

"We all have the ability to build muscle" yeah but up to a certain point it really doesnt make a difference. Like yeah everyone can put on muscle, but if youre only putting on like 15lbs of muscle, thats barely different than no muscle at all. It takes a lot of muscle to be worth it in the end and apparently some of us just dont have the genetic capacity for that.

How can he say that Genetics is a "BS Excuse" when it is absolutely true? I have 3 cousins who sit down and play video games all day long, stuff their faces with junk food and soda all day long, and have never in their lives gone to a gym or even exercise.. yet they all have zero body fat and "look" like professional athletes... Meanwhile If I so much as look at a cheese burger, I gain 10 pounds... Doesn't matter how much I diet and exercise.. makes no difference for me. How is this not genetics??

Short bicep, wide hips, crappy insertions . That's why I think my genetics suck. I look good in a shirt, and like a block of cheese out of one.

If you have short biceps than you should do scott curls with full rom instead of standard bicep curls. And while doing it don't bend your palms towards yourself but keep them slightly out to engage the bicep and not forearm. I couldn't really hit my bicep for a long time because of that mistake..

I found out that for my upper chest I can only do inclined CABLE flies without pain in my shoulders and tension in upper chest, funny because I can't say the same for same exercise with dumbbells and barbell altough it's the same angle, same bench, same weight..

Șerban cables offer constant tension through any exercise and range therefore this makes sense vs using dumbbells. Choose what you can feel working for you despite what others may say or do. Good luck
