I love my Axe FX III and I couldn’t be happier. Best tone I have for more than 20 years but if I would buy another amp etc. again, I would go the synergy route. And yes, well done Henning, awesome playing 🤘🏻👍🏻😎

Yes, the Axe's IIc model misses that high-mid scrathcing the original has. Not completely nailed unfortunately, so I have to keep my JP-2C for now. Really curious it the IICP can get me that.

@@berndkiltz Hi Bernd 👍🏻 I sold all my Amps/Tube Amps and Never regret it. Of course it would be great to collect as much amps as I can but since I went full Fractal, I have no GAS anymore. My last Amp was a Friedman BE 100 DLX and I love it but I could nail the sound with the axe, so I‘m more neighbor friendly right now 😂 The Axe sound just awesome with the RedSound Speakers. But yeah I got you, if I had a warehouse and a huge amount of money, I would collect every amp that I could. Most of them are in the Axe, except of one. Do you know Stevens Amps? I often visited Bernd Stephan in his shop and he build a custom amp for, I miss that one so much but sadly it’s lost in the flooding. I would love to have a Stevens Poundcake in the Axe ❤️

I had a chance to play this, and that EQ is SUPER SENSITIVE. I had to adjust them with a set of tweezers to get the tone just right. It's almost identical to a IIC+. The poweramp really makes a difference though and the IIC+ had a Simul-Class setup. So, you'll have to dial in a bit more SAG on the preamp to really get that crunch tone right.

Why do I keep watching reviews about stuff that I know I can‘t afford? Well, I guess because it is fun! 😀 Thanks for another great review! And that song at the beginning is great! The lead somewhere around the end actually reminded me of Michael Schenker somehow. Keep up the great work and l’ll keep up watching 🤓😎

When the lead drive goes up, that bass knob has got to come down. Almost...completely. Then slowly add low end back in with the 80Hz fader.
@bradleejaymz3 жыл бұрын
After re-reading my own comment it sounds like I was being a bit pretentious. Sorry about that. I'll say it another way. I used to own a JP2c. Why I no longer own it is a different story. If this module is set up at all like the Mark amps and my JP2c, that bass knob is pre gain stage low end which ends up flubby when gained up (distorted). On the JP2c, with gain at 3:00, bass would have to be almost all the way down and 80 Hz fader maybe half way up. I didn't apply the full V shape. Added some 80Hz, took out a bit of 750 Hz. It had a great sound. Very tight, full, and roaring. I hope this module does the same or close to it.

Fantastic guitar work in the intro -I like the song, especially with my new favorite drummer playing on it... later on: the H 150 is out of tune in the beginning, or is it my ears again? Anyway fxxxing great content. As always.

Nice demo Henning! I wonder if they couldn't make the faders a bit bigger...looks like they have the space, but I cannot look into the module of course. Btw can you run two modules in the synergy head in parallel? I'm thinking this IICP module parallel with a Friedman. That would come close what they did in the 90s with a Mesa and a Marshall in parallel on recordings.
@EytschPi423 жыл бұрын
no, you can't run them in parallel.

There's hardly any tighter amp than any of the Mark series. The Bass, Mid, Treble, controls are pre EQ (pre distortion). Just turn down that Bass control. So many people don't know how to deal with these kind of amps.

Your comment that Mark 2c+ was revered for its metal tone amongst "the players" of that time is incorrect. The tight metal/high gain stage thing had a cult fringe following. Those amps and later the Mark iii's (almost exclusively combos with Black Shadow Eminence, or Altecs) were found in EVERY legitimate recording studio across North America and including Hawaii. Why? Because the CLEAN tones you can dial up are second to none. The great players (studio guys) know this. Even the electric keyboard community jumped on that train. Great demo capturing this modules versatility.
@nine9nein7803 жыл бұрын
Hi Henning. I believe when Metallica used the IIc+ or was it ++, they slaved them through JCM 800 2203 heads. It would be interesting to hear how that sounds. To be clear I mean Syn50 loop send into your 800 return, but I think you knew that. Just an idea.
@GenerationDown2 жыл бұрын
The main reason they did this was for the el-34 power tubes, for that British bite. The boogies came biased with 6L6. Any power amp with el 34 will achieve this.

also consider that what you might know as the iic+ sound was highly formed by the speaker. Hearing it with a different speaker can change the frequency response drastically. I would dare to say that Steven Fryette knows exactly what he is doing and is more than capable to recreate the sound… they also did A/B tests and there was no difference… but so used a 4x12 creamback with a setting that I like… might not be right for the amp or the sound it is known for.
