Very interesting direction I'm thinking about the Bogner Ecstasy and the Engl Powerball modules that should be plenty of tones if using it with their midi switcher and having 4 channels under foot . I messaged them to see if it works with an old amp I have lying around named the Randall RM100 1st module style amp that would be a nice easier start, it has 3 slots if not then I'll have to decide about a head or the dual rack system . All in All it seems like a nice medium between the amp model world and carrying around these monster heads. thanks good to hear about it

Great playing henning. You really have become a good guitarist over the years! (Compared to your early videos, this playing was lovely, just sublime mate) Convinced me to order the Bogner Ecstasy module ! Looking forward to hearing it in the flesh. Given your experience with Bogner, what would be your go to settings for ac dc style classic rock - i assume blue channell (what did you find worked best in terms of pre eq and schizo switch settings?)
@Robstafarian4 жыл бұрын
It would have been nice to hear how the Schizo switch affected dynamics throughout the Blue channel's gain range (which, of course, could have been demonstrated using guitar controls instead of said channel's gain control). When it comes time for you to demo the Synergy Fryette Deliverance module, which I anticipate more eagerly than I probably should, I hope you will read the Deliverance's manual (meaning the head's manual) and possibly email Steve in order to understand the significance of its dual gain controls with regard to dynamics.

The lead sound in the beginning of the video are fabulous!!! You sold me on the module, and I noticed towards the end of the video that you kept reaching up and engaging/disengaging an effects unit on the top of the UA OX. When engaged it was one of the best combination of tones that I have been looking for. I tried to figure out what it was, but couldn't see it well enough. A few hours later, I pulled Dan and Mick on The Pedal Show. Dan had an Echo Fix EF-X2 Tape Echo that he had purchased and was raving over. Can you verify that this is what you sere using for your delay?

nope, just the built in effects of the OX, I merely used a foot switch to turn them on

Sounds awesome great demo well done... I don't own a synergy system but I wonder how distinct these boutique modules are from each other? you've got Freidman, Bogner and now soldano and they all kind of have their own version of what a souped up Marshall is... I wonder if there's a module out there that can mimic the pre amp of say a dual rectifier(?) something more modern and saturated sounding...? Cheers
@EytschPi424 жыл бұрын
the Dual Rectifier preamp is IDENTICAL to the Soldano preamp.... so its easy... just buy the Soldano.

Marshall really dropped the ball. I used the JMP-1 with Marshall 9200 dual mono block power amp for almost 20 years, long after they discontinued it. I miss that rig. I wanted more gain and went with a JVM410HJS, but I really loved the rack setup. Marshall should have developed a JMP2 and JMP3 and kept going. The module idea is great too and they could have done that, but instead of building on what they mastered so long ago, they just stopped. I am thinking about replacing the JVM410HJS with a Synergy rig. I'd need to drive a few hours to try a Synergy rig out though.

Henning, my dear Henning, won't you please join me to convince Synergy to make a rack mount plate for storing Synergy Modules? Basically the faceplate to a Syn2 without the holes for the knobs and switches, jus the module cutouts and tapped screw holes. That way a DIY module storage solution is readily available and adaptable.

FYI Henning there are two internal switches under the metal plate which change the sound of this module, do you know how yours was set for this vid? This makes it harder to decide which module I want next (only have the Vai module right now), this may be my next module though. Also, I was wondering if you thought any of these modules could do an SRV-like tone? I know SRV did like a Dumble SSS and a Marshall Master at some point and before that he had his fenders.

@JoeHeisler4 жыл бұрын
EytschPi42 Okay thanks! Also to clear up any confusion, I’m talking about two switches that no other modules have (not the standard cathode or dual/single switches), I saw them in the manual. There’s an AIR switch which adds gain and expands the frequency range and a mode switch to switch between 100b and 101b tones.

I have done tests and when so mike a cab and do it well, the sound I am getting is exactly like the one I get with the Ox... the Ox has great room tone. I’ve gone down that road and a close mikes cab is easy to get right with an Ox or a Torpedo. Ola could get the exact same sounds with a Torpedo of he wanted to. Trust me, I‘ve done those videos and I‘ve done my tests. A cab will have to be pushed in the room to cobsiderable volume to sound good. I would damage my hearing and lose the ability to do my job.

@@EytschPi42 i get it ,thanks for the awesome reply . I mentioned it to other youtubers also ,people will do what works for them . The Ola video I linked is a bit extreme ... but ya man it does show what the amp would do in a real situation which is super valuable to know, maybe play around with a miced cab in another room? If I was an amp designer and spent my days on earth perfecting an amp circuit like Mike Soldano / Fryette etc I would be really bummed out that the demo of my work was put through a digital simulator to show the world my product ... It is kinda like demoing a mix for someone as a MP3 to demonstrate your sonic mixing abilities ...it works but not really the ideal ....you are awesome man I love your content ....there are some youtuber channel though I had to quit watching cause they just use IRs on all their demos and it creates this kinda 'sameness ' sound where most amps all kinda sound the same because they are going through the same digital plastic filter right at the end of the signal chain -thanks for taking the time to read my rant -peace
