Thank you for this video. I have a Communications and law enforcement background and have a friend who is a Licensed MSW. I was considering this program as I have a tight budget but wasn't sure if it would work for me. I appreciate your descriptions and actually entering the program and the problems you encountered. The user controls and the other issues don't appeal to me, but obviously since they're providing it for free they will add whatever they feel users should hear regardless of whether or not it's relevant to the test.

I totally agree with you , some videos are way too long and you really need to be sitting around for that time slot , .....would be helpful also if more examples and simple English is used not a very scientific way of explaining.... but still it is worth ....

I had a very bad experience with APF. In some computers you cannot control the videos. You may need to watch them in one sitting because if you close the browser, it will take you from the beginning. Customer support is shocking. They accused me of cheating and withheld my certificate. They went silent after I asked them to review their decision and gave them evidence that I completed every part of the training.

I know this video is 7 months old but when you watch this videos from your phone (I have an iPhone) I can see the controls to go back and forth and I can log out and go directly where I left. I put the big screen in my iPhone to be able to do this. I hope this helps someone :)

hello! i'm currently taking the course and no you do not have to start all over if you want to hear something again, i simply use my left and right keys on my keyboard (you know the ones next to the up and down keys you use to scroll) and u can go back and forth on the video. hope this helps anyone restarting their whole videos lol

I have a question for you, regarding the comp assessment, do you know if that has to be scheduled through the Bacb web or could I take it online? Hi Saude! You must find a BCBA to complete the Competency Assessment. You can search for a BCBA on the BACB website but must email them to ask if they complete the Assessment. I had to rewatch many videos over an hour or 2. The website is full of ads, took me 2 hours a day to get on the site because it would load. Horrible course. I did over 50 hours because of the site and tech issues. Finally received my certificate. When I log on to the website it said I didn’t complete the requirement of time stamp! Took off a week of work to complete this course and it was for nothing!

In ABA training there's a common error concerning "quality of life" for autistic people. The majority of ABA workers ignore the history of ABA, by doing so they don't learn from the history making them make the same mistake that made autistic people rebel in the first place. By ABA not being educated about the conditions including autism, workers forget autistic people have a different perception of the world. I see ABA saying they're trying to help autistic people live a "normal" life to give them equal opportunities, that's the error, "normal" life. The history of ABA shows us making autistic people live a "normal" life, live like "normal" people makes them suffer, the behaviours used to substitute harmful behaviours are often normative. As I've mentioned in one of your other videos, their Special Interest Area is the key to an autistic person's quality of life. There's many autistic people throughout history who have become some of the most famous people because they dedicated their life to their SIA which lead to them having a career they love and enjoy. I for example have researched autism ever since I were 9 years old keeping upto date with the neuroscience and what autism research teams discover as they increase our understanding of autism and it's lead to me successfully helping parents over the internet understand their children's behaviour. The most common example in the world today who couldn't speak until she was 4 years old is Temple Grandin, author of "Thinking In Pictures." Her SIA was animals and now she's an animal science professor working for a university. An autistic person's Special Interest Area is the way to the quality of an autistic person's life.

APF is not a user friendly site for the training. I cannot go forward or back during the videos...so if I miss something I have to start the module over again which is a huge time waster. Someone mentioned that you can use the arrows on their laptop for this, but it's not working for me. I might try watching on my phone in case it's just my laptop. Also, for some reason I can't enlarge the screen so I'm stuck squinting at some of the charts/diagrams. I'll complete it because it's free but perhaps the sites that charge might be easier to use.

Yes, the videos in the training have closed captioning. As with a lot of information available on the internet, you do need to consider when the content was created and assume that things have changed. The training by APF has not been changed in the last 2 years as the RBT task list created by the BACB has not changed. The BACB member ID is listed on the BCBA's profile page. It's not publicly available which makes it a more secure number than the BCBA's certification number. The only one who can give this number to you is the BCBA themselves.

Yes. This course is accepted by the BACB to meet the requirement for certification. You still need to pass the competency assessment and the exam to become certified. Once certified, you can provide direct ABA services in the field.

Hi! That's a great question! I'm not sure where they are asking for your credit card. I just went through the registration process to make sure it hasn't changed. Click on Add to Cart and ignore the buttons that say PayPal and Debit or Credit Card. You can go through the entire checkout process without entering a credit card number. I hope this helps!
