John that was one fantastic job. That TYM is a beast. The Massey definitely held its own. Of course none of the machines can't do squat without a masterful operator. Ecellent work, my friend. I'd surely love to have some of that good looking op soil. That top soil is pricey as all get out. You're the man. I think it will drain just fine. You have a good slope and water should flow easily. Are you going to lay sod or seed it? Enjoyed the entire video. Have a great Christmas. Don 👍🏽🙂
@LouisianaTractorworks3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Don! Was going to seed it with rye grass but we are still hitting 80 degree temps. The cool thing is, the grass has started coming back on it's own. lol I will use all the dirt I pulled from here to fill low spots on the other side of the property and I did remove a lot. lol Some areas was up to 10 inches I removed. It was really bad. lol Merry Christmas my friend! See ya in the next one!

Hey buddy. This will only work if you are a good operator like yourself. That TYM is a real workhorse. I really like it! That Massey is just the perfect size for landscaping too. From a distance that TYM looks just like a Massey lol. I wonder if some companies do that on purpose. You did a great job on that grading. Take care

Great job, John. Very similar to what I had to do (and finish up next summer). It was nice to see the Massey loader worked well. I wondered if I should do the same with my grading project. I decided to use a rear blade. And, I was thinking to myself "How would John do this?" :-) Thanks for sharing!
@LouisianaTractorworks3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Rick! There is all kinds of ways to grade your ground. The reason I use the front end loader is because that's all I have. Lol. But I have found using the FEL has the benefit of moving the excess dirt out of your working area. Where a back blade or box, it builds up and you have to stop to do something with in. If you are working a area that has highs and lows they work great but if you have to remove a lot of material then I find using a FEL the best way of doing it. Merry Christmas! See ya in the next one!

I bought a TYM T 264 in the spring and a Woods 60" gear drive tiller. they seem to be the perfect match with what I have done so far this summer. I'm going to do a very similar project in a month or two. I have 300 feet of frontage on one side of my property and back maybe 100 feet from the street it looks flat but it's not and it won't drain to the ditch. I am going to till a bunch off the top of the ditch frontage and work my way back removing soil till it slopes, then seed everything. I hope to end up with a pretty big stockpile of topsoil too when I'm done. Does the Massey not have a float function? It looked like you were digging in by the house.
@LouisianaTractorworks2 жыл бұрын
Thank you John, for watching and the comment! You will end up with some top soil leftover. I used my leftover in my garden. lol Yes. The Massey does have float but I was digging where the tiller could not get. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!

Well that turned out super. How late can you get away with laying down seed by you? That thing I did on mine, the seed didn't catch so yup I'll have a mud pit all winter, oh well. The massey looks like a garden tractor compared to that TYM, but that's why we like em, right! Happy friday eve, John!

Thank you Pond Acres! Well normally I would seed rye grass and it would take off fast, but giving we are still having 80 degree temps the grass is already coming back on it's own. lol That's also one of the reasons I try not to till to deep. Keep that hard ground in place just in case the rains come before the grass grows. Merry Christmas my friend! See ya in the next one!
