The Tomie story that still stuck in my mind was the one with the ugly brother. It's not the best story but I really like the fact that someone (for once) wasn't attracted to Tomie and that genuinely bothered her to the point of being obsessed with him, despite the fact that the guy was ugly. This story felt more real because I've seen some girls act just like that.

I love how Tomie is a victim that becomes an offender just like the cycle of abuse and violence upon people and, specifically, in this story, women. I still wish it didn't leave off on a cliffhanger/filler chapter, but the message stuck with me. TomeBFree4Ever❤!

Glad to see you enjoyed it. After you read Uzumaki 2 years ago ive been waiting. Hopefully you liked it more than Gyo.

Hey, I don't remember if you've mentioned it in one of your videos already, but did you watch the Uzumaki anime? It's on Hulu right now and I thought it was really good. Also, great video as always!

I'm going to take this as a sign I should read Junji Ito's books!! I keep seeing reviews of his book and at one point KZbin recommended an interview with him!! But which to start with!?? Great review and interesting video as always!!

@sjmsutherland I started with Uzumaki. And after reading 4 of his books, I think that was a pretty good place to start.

@sjmsutherland Like Rammel said, long-form Uzumaki; it's a masterpiece. If you like that, go with Fragments of Horror or Shiver. Fragments of Horror is a short story compilation of his favorites, and it has Blackbird, which is haunting, and my favorites like Tomio. Shiver is one of his greatest hits, but I just have a minority preference over FoH so I like to give it a shout out.

I love Tomie! Definitely one of my favorites by Ito. Have you read any of his short stories yet?

@PSNfalcoBrawler All I have read by him so far is Uzumaki, Gyo, Tomie, and No longer human.

Junji Ito story might felt silly at some point but I think it is also his view on dark humor. Like we chuckle at the fuck up shit in life just because it can be so absurd. Junji Ito chuckle then draw about it

It's pronounced - Toh-me-eh

Funny how every english speakers call her Tommy instead of TomiE (Tomy-ey) Just like Kiri-E with Uzumaki.
@rammelbroadcastingАй бұрын
@colibri224 you know it never even occurred to me to say it any other way. We have a lot of names that end in ie and they all have the same ey sound.

Literally no one calls her Tommy

@@rammelbroadcasting Japanese words are usually made up of characters named kana, each one representing a syllable. Usually in two character pairs like mu, fu, gu etc. In hiragana the name is - とみえ. Which has three characters. To - Mi - E. You tend to pronounce Japanese words with each syllable separately, and characters usually (there are exceptions) don't change the sound of the adjacent characters. So here you get something more like - Toh - Me - Eh. That's what gives Japanese that more staccato, even sound when spoken.
